I agree with that part of it. I just meant I don't like that someone can do what Shakeshaft did to Buggy and not have to say it was her mesh anymore. That is all she had to do, but the new EULA seems to say it was okay for Shakeshaft to do what she did, and so no I don't think that is a good thing. But you have to take the good with the bad I suppose.

Which is bullshit, clearly! They shouldn't be able to profit off someone else work period. But they shouldn't be able to profit off their own either because EA should stop them. But if EA's new position is that you don't own your work and allowing it for download mean anyone can use it in any way they wish...

I don't think I explained well. What I was trying to point out was that this is an example of the other shoe dropping on the new EULA. While it clearly supports file-sharing, it now completely negates the whole "respect the creator" or protect the creator's assets. That the new EULA specifically makes this kind of thing okay but no one seems to have noticed.

And no I don't think that is a good thing.

So, I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion here so let me start by saying I have never even been to TSR except to check out links from here. While I feel bad that Buggy wasn’t given proper credit for her mesh, I feel we are being a smidge hypocritical here. We are so excited that the new EULA for The Sims 3 basically says, you can make content but you agree that making it means anyone can use it for any purpose they want, to justify that file sharing is ok. Well that same new EULA kinda makes what ShakeShaft did okay with them too.

What I mean is that, clearly, taking credit for someone else work is morally wrong, but it isn’t illegal. I think that we should be pointing this out to show that Shakeshit is shady/untrustworthy, more than screaming thief everywhere. (Which I don’t technically believe is an incorrect description. It just feels like to someone outside of our forum, it seems like we talking out both sides of our mouth)


ETA: Of course all the stuff that happened after the report and the hacking of her stuff is even more despicable and 100% indefensible!

I find this line to be the most interesting in his letter. It implies the exact opposite of what he wants. In itself it implies that Pescado has a defensible position. He says Pescado is defending the EULA, thereby validating that he knows exactly what the EULA says, and instead is just saying let EA defend themself. I know the next couple of sentences try to negate that, but it isn't the first time he contradicted himself in correspondence.

I think this was more of an every parent (as in I do this every single day) rather than a comparison of single parents. I would also agree that every parent I have ever known, single or otherwise has complained about the items on Darqstar's list.

Yep, my younger brother was in a car wreck and got a ticket (maybe arrested too, its been a long time I can't remember) for paraphernalia, because he had papers and rolling machine in his car. Never mind that he told them he buys bulk tobacco because it is cheaper to roll his own ciggies and had the huge can of tobacco in his coat to back him up. 

That statement just seems odd all the way around. The Sims team, sounds like the guys who make the game. The ones who have stated over and over again, that they get no say in the DRM or any of the other decisions besides the game. So it kind of sounds like she took a poll of the people who do the majority of the work on the game, about people who "work" on creating CC. How surprising that these people (the sims 2 team) thought that they should be able to own and do whatever they want with their creations!

Even if the Sims team thinks creators should be able to do whatever they want with their work, they don't speak for EA, or EA's legal team. It sounds like a bunch of coworkers bitching about the way things should be around the water cooler and then making the changes without management knowledge or permission.

I am so glad that Coconut has a new home. It is just too bad it doesn't have the same name. Whenever I am visiting with a friend and talking about T$R and Coconut, I would just google "Coconut's Hut" and the first return in the search was always her WordPress. The search still brings that up, but the blog is gone. How are people who don't frequent PMBD but are following Coconut, going to find them?

Ugh! I hate honey! I wish I liked it, but then I know I am weird about sugar. For example, I hate frosting. Even when I was a kid, I would scrape all the frosting off my cake and just eat the cake.

Yeah, they did. I was just going to post and mention they had a copy of this flyer up on the news sections of Snooty's site, December 3. We can always hope that they actually have invited someone besides T$R.
