The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Sirona Sims Adds Pay Section?

Motoki, my guess is that she decided to leave MTS2 and create her own site for some reason, then realized she had made the crass logistical mistake of not seeing how the land lies - had she bothered to do a minimum of preparative research she would have known the interest on TS2 is currently dwildling and even popular sites are having trouble with meeting their server costs. Then, in a desperate attempt to salvage her little site she plastered a pretty "premium" section on it, added a Terms page covered in legalese and called it a day. I also do not believe this is going to result in drumming up any extra enthusiasm: has anyone even requested her pay stuff to the booty shopping list yet? I no longer download pre-made sims or lots, which seems to be the only thing she's currently charging for, but there's plenty of people who do.
Jessica, if she did exploit the helping hand you guys at the family extended to her so she could remain free, she's even worse than a pay creator who admits outright to wanting to charge for CC. Creators and site owners who see the free community only as a platform for gathering the popularity and the knowledge that they believe that will carry them to success once they go pay are second only to pay creators that rip off free creators in being the most despicable people in the community.
I cannot recognize the free CC that she used in her pay creations (my visual memory sucks xD), but in case I do see something I know that was created by someone who intended it to remain free I'll be writing to her about it. She'll probably ignore it, but oh well. At least she'll know she succeeded in alienating yet another old fan.

The top one is supposed to be Marcia Harris from Desperate Housewives (not that I watch it) and the other one who knows
Don't you mean Marcia Cross? If so that Sim is a blasphemy.I'm a straight girl and even I think the real Marcia is mad hot. That Sim, however, is a monstrosity. And Chazzified Teri Hatcher will haunt my dreams tonight. Thank you very much for the night terrors, everybody.

o.0 Wouldn't that pull your little hairs out when you take it off, like a big band aid. That would hurt, they should all just wear thongs and have none of the riding up problems That's why you wax.

I was simply amazed at the way he tried to shift things. "Don't do it for me and my monies, do it for YOU! Do it for YOUR SOUL! Do you want the other kids to be COOL LIKE YOU without having to jump through the hoops? It's in YOUR BEST INTERESTS to give me monies!". Asshat.

Aw, 'tis not so bad. Photoshop makes everything prettier! This comes to mind... I think much more people would have watched Mission Impossible III if the Photoshop kitteh had actually been in it. Win-win! In other TSR-related news, yesterday I found myself looking at Marko's page at TSR. Here's what his TOS says at some point: Feel free to make creations for the meshes that I’ve made (both body and hair), but don’t upload them to any other site. After all, why would somebody get something for free if you had to pay for it? Lolwut? What kind of 12-ish mentality is this? I'm at loss.

Well with all due respect iamawake I think most can agree that it's painfully obvious what she was insinuating. Now I'm not trying to antagonize but GoS is important to me and I'm going to defend it when people make stabs at it. You can't say that you wouldn't do the same if someone were attacking this website.
I see what you're trying to get at, but the thing is I don't see the insinuation. That's not the way things roll around here. People in this site are every bit as defensive of the free community in general - including GoS - as you are of GoS. The dig here was, I believe, totally directed at Juice Newsea and not at GoS. I cannot speak for redisenchanted but when I read the post I saw it more like a mild reprehension over a broken rule and definitely not an attack (you can really tell when people attack here ). Heck, I like GoS. Like Paden says, it houses plenty of talented creators that make beautiful things out of horrid pay meshes. There's many pirates that are also members and lurkers there who I think will agree with me. Honestly I don't see that bad vibe against GoS around here and believe me, while I'm not a regular poster I'm a diligent lurker.

Grrr, this isn't GOS. Here pay = suck
Stop the gushing, we don't give them free press. We're a free site, so why are you ragging on us? By all means have a go at someone for breaking the rules of this site but for the love of God, leave the moaning about how another site works out of it okay? Funny how this post was glossed over. Because Anyerfillag's got a point. Your FAQ says no bitching about free sites, GoS is a free site. Does this GoS bashing have to do anything with Nouk departing from there? Pardon me for the intrusion but I didn't see redisenchanted ragging on GoS. She was simply pointing out that while in GoS it's okay to praise pay creators, it's a big no-no to do so as per PMBD rules. I believe it was in no way an attack on GoS but merely an enforcement of a well-established PMBD rule. Just because this site is run differently than yours doesn't mean that we despise you and everything you stand for it simply means that we work in a different way and that it's mere courtesy to abide our rules while you're here, regardless of what the protocol might be in your site. Okay, I'm done butting in.

When I was in high school and in my freshman year of college I drank coffee like it was water. I started doing it because I needed to stay up during some nights to study but it quickly grew into an habit. When I got pregnant I had to reduce my dosage considerably. The result is, I haven't touched a single cup for five years. I fell completely out of habit and now can't even stand the taste of it. I still like the smell, for some reason, but you can't make me drink it, not even if I really need to. Needless to say, I still feel like a zombie every morning. The first Starbucks in my country opened a few months ago - yes, I live in the third world - and while I haven't tried it yet - hello, don't like coffee anymore - the few people I know that have given it a shot say it's not worthy. Tall cups of flavoured coffee isn't the way we roll around here, apparently.

While I agree Lestat was a better vampire; I'll never download a sim of any of Anne Rice's characters or buy another of her books.
You've made me curious: may I ask why? *was also once a Anne Rice die-hard, operating under the belief that Lestat and company can kick Emoward's ass any day*

Okay, you have to admit that the Pulp Fiction one is truly cool in concept. I would have gone for a different type of homage, though...
A friend and I were thinking a couple of months ago about getting matching tattoos saying "Quid Iuris?" on our wrists. We finally decided not to/suspended that plan, mostly because we're scared shitless of actually getting them done, but we still think (well I do) that it was a pretty good idea.

I for one have nothing against vegetarians (was one myself for four years; not a moral vegetarian, just one that randomly started hating the taste of meat and stopped being able to digest it normally), vegans, animal rights activists or the like. But the problem I have with PETA is the same that I have with green consumerist organizations: They're pointing their fingers at the wrong folks. As in, your average person and not the major corporations that produce that shit. Well, the vast majority of it.
Agreed. I happen to agree with some of the principles of PETA and I'm all for ethical treatment of animals, but I believe that hunting foxes for fashion fur coats or for sport does not equal eating a steak.

Sherry: I obviously don't mean that. It's something I say to those ladies when I want to piss them off.
Clutzy: a few years ago a pacifist organization from my country lobbied to change the lyrics of the national anthem that reflected bellic scenes and replace them with incentives to culture and mentions to our literary history. Needless to say, the final song wasn't nearly as catchy.

Dispossessive: yeah, I'm also familiar with the multiplying compost heaps and massive recycling dumpsters issue in my building. Luckily the eco-bitches now keep those in the garage, after a kerfuffle very similar to yours: we managed to convince them to use the garage as it had more space than the communal area that they cluttered. They said they absolutely had the need for those huge dumpsters because they were trying to make everybody pitch in on their recycling efforts. If I want to recycle I don't need coaching; I can perfectly do it by myself, thank you.
(besides, I have this weird paranoid feeling about recycling. It's something that is supposed to be _universally good_, and I have a problem believing that there's something the whole humanity agrees in as to be a good thing. It's almost like I'm not being told everything there is to it.)
As for the sea kittens: eeeek. Talk about emotional harassment. I just hope no misguided kid thinks about turning his old, boring regular "land kitten" into a new, trendy "sea kitten", if you know what I mean.
ED: About Coconut's update - don't you just love it when Thomas refers to Raveena's pay as "incentives"? Euphemisms FTW!
