The hair is nice but the skin looks a lot like teru_k's BJD skin or Ephemera's stuff. Do you mean you edited to remove the joints? If so good job, but shouldn't you give some credit?
2  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Big Name Fans in the Sims 2 world? on: 2007 May 29, 21:20:55
Just that in most fandoms there are some names that lots of people recognise - some have gone to great lengths to get their name out there,

It's not a serious question, no right or wrong answer, just speculating - in this community, who have you 'heard of' and recognise their name when you see it?

Most of these are creators such as Nouk (<3) but there are others who are more infamous like Thomas at TSR. And people like KSK and Sshodan for their creations but mostly their drama lol. Maybe people like Linuslover30 or Belle_Ange in the old days who made sims in a style that was recognisable...
3  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Big Name Fans in the Sims 2 world? on: 2007 May 29, 20:43:30
Someone mentioned this in another thread and I thought it would be interesting (and quite possibly amusing) to see who people considered to be 'Big Name Fans' in the community.

Possible most obvious example would be Enayla and Peggy...but apart from creators, anyone else spring to mind & why?
4  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Yay, this sucks! SAU is back! on: 2007 May 29, 20:32:40
Are they allowed to do that? Sell the skintone, I mean. I know they give credit to Louis and Glance guy, but I doubt they know it's being sold. Wasn't Louis pretty clear about any derivations of her stuff staying free?

From now on you may use and share my files freely at any site as long as the credit and contact information are included, if the files are not used for commercial purposes.

To be honest, it looks like SAU really actually needs donations for bandwidth, with the way they go on & off-line. This isn't another peggy, hopefully, and until now everything was free...

:?: This is all speculation, right? HAs anyone actually asked her?

Oooh, corsetunderneath - do you think?  Cheesy

Skinny model-size females & warlock type curvy ones have been designed for.
I'm sick of all the huge bodybuilders with muscles getting bigger and bigger. It's about time people made stuff for guys with stick legs lol I mean, they're more common than really built, hench guys in real life. Well not as common as fat people but still

9  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / schuldig_seiben has gone a bit too far... on: 2007 May 06, 18:06:54
 Yeah...someone asked if she would convery some of her edits. For one she said there was already a hair like it so didn't, but she converted the other. Whereas Sshodan demonstrated how to pull the mother of all hissy fits when her hair was refitted. And yet they both get threads discussing their misconduct? Sad, isn't it

Sshodan & KSK seem to have conveniently disappeared. Why is this? Perhaps their women-hating got so bad they...couldn't handle being women any more.

I think you're pissed because you didn't realise it was a guy until she said so.

It's a prize for a contest that is about being as pretty a boy as possible. I think it fits the theme quite well. It's well made & elegant. I like it Smiley

The only thing she has in common with KSK is her like of pretty men. But she's also capable of making actual women & obviously male men. she doesn't hate women or pull fits if you mention female conversions.

If this is your reaction to a sim in a dress that she made, I feel sorry for anyone at all 'different' from your narrow-minded idea of what is usual who comes across you in the real world.

...Not to be too harsh, though. I have to admit, seeing the title & then reading what it was about made me laugh for about three minutes.

I thought she'd pulled a stunt involving extraction of money for her sims. Would have been more interesting.
11  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Eating some humble pie on: 2007 May 03, 18:49:48
I think Ren above is from Rensim, which is a very very awesome site.

I support including meshes, but not to the extent of stepping on toes uneccessarily, as you put it. To be honest, it's the mesh creator's loss if it's not included since less people will bother looking for it. I think a link back should be compulsory in all cases, whether mesh is included or not, but that's already the case most of the time.

Liegenschonheit, I think it was a good idea but most creators aren't quite ready for it. I think it's really brave of you to show that making happy for all is more important to you than creating more drama in the community. Brava! Cheesy

Ren/Louis at Sim cribbling allows reuse of her textures freely. Don't know what'll happen if he tries to put it in a donation pack, though. Maybe someone should warn her Tongue

13  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Looking for schuldig_seiben's sims on: 2007 April 30, 12:47:34
She's opening a site with her sims on - I asked and she said maybe 2 weeks maximum before it goes up Smiley I'm looking forward to getting some of her newer sims because...these old ones aren't her best. Shes said so herself Cheesy
14  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Poser Content on: 2007 March 23, 21:19:48
You're right, she has no obligation at all.

All I meant was, perhaps converting is harder then was first assumed so it seems less likely that everyone is in on it, and that maybe a lot of hair that is very similar to poser meshes really is inspired and similar.

Given that peggy still hasn't worked out how to animate well and avoid gaps, maybe she isn't advanced and ahead of the game with this coversion thing...

I have spoken with a Poser artist whose work has been suspected stolen by all three of the main accused: Peggy, Rose, and XM Sims, and the two that she could look at, she said were not direct thefts - the mesh parts and textures were not derived from hers. It is pretty clear from the sheer number of parallels with certain sites and popular Poser hairstyles that these sites' creators are being... at the least inspired by the Poser work. The line of what is inspiration and what is crossing the line into copying someone else's creation is a very fuzzy one. A large amount of the meshes on those sites do bear a striking resemblance to popular Poser portfolios - whether they cross that fuzzy line and whether some are actual outright thefts still remains unknown

If the poser creator themselves cannot tell, then it's quite ambiguous.  I guess what im trying to say in a long convoluted way is - what happened to innocent until proven guilty? It's still speculation and hasn't been proved.

This isn't directed at you, but something you said reminded me; another thing thats funny - understandable, but funny - is how the integrity and rights of the poser artist are defended when a mesh is converted by someone like pegy/ rose...but people don't mind so much about XM sims.  I feel the same way myself really, but when people say their biggest problem is how converters gave no credit (while still saying they don't mind XM sims) whos it's really about paying for something that isn't neccessarily entriely the simmer's own.  Cheesy
15  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Poser Content on: 2007 March 23, 19:29:56
Thanks for posting all the links and pictures, some of them may have been seen before but its very interesting and convenient to have them all in one place and not over about 100 pages lol.

What I did wonder at was how quickly some people pointed the finger and accused sims 2 creators of theft, then tried themselves and found that it would be much simpler to make the mesh for scratch, and that it couldnt relaly be done easily at all.

See here

especially here

http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=216022

but the accusations against xm, peggy rose etc haven't been retracted.

Now Im not saying none of them were converted or ripped off. However, unless they are completely identical, very simple meshes, eg. Diva 'by' Thomas, which is obviously totally the same, I think that it is not certain they were converted from poser at all, with or without permission. Especially for the more wispy, complicated hair. Lots of the styles seem to be heavily inspired by the poser styles they resemble, and it might not be morally right to copy so blatantly, but if your a greedy payste owner who has to create hair every week or two like a factory production line, then your going to run out of ideas and turn to similar things for inspiration.

Theres no doubt peggy & rose can mesh for themselves, for example styles based on celebrities etc. Perhaps they too found it easier as HP said to make a similar mesh from scratch than try to convert meshes that were stolen. they must have known it would get them into trouble anyway....

The combination of alien mapping, high poly, crunchy reduction, and completely incompatible layering makes most Poser meshes I've looked at simply not viable for conversion.

The amount of time it takes for me to clean up a Poser mesh into anything even remotely useful is about twice as long as it would take for me to make a completely new, original hair from scratch...

Just my ideas. feel free to disagree, but I was wondering if anyone else had noticed this...almost duplicity/ hypocrsiy, not from HP necessarily, but from everyone who insists that all hairs with even the tiniest similarity is stolen, and ignores HP's post about 'feasibility' of converting poser meshes.
