Hm. The peeps over at boolprop can be colored unimpressed. Do EA executives need to come to their houses and kill their parents in front of them before they realise something is up? No offense to the boolpropians, but gah! And I can't even answer that question without breaking the forum rules. Very frustrating.

boolprop is a paysite - so you can't expect to find anti-pay sympathisers there.

Waitwut? I never knew, I thought it was just a forum. What you said made me look at the booty and sure enough, there they are. Goddammit. That's what's wrong with this community, the second you stop keeping your eyes peeled you step into a great stinking pile of paysite crap. Now I'll have to leave. Shit.

It's not that we aren't there, we just don't heavily advertise ourselves.  I've been a member there for over two years, and before I discovered the booty, I was tempted on donating to the site (the forum - NOT Boolprop Sims).  Once I found out that the forum was attached to a paysite, I decided that it would NEVER get any of my moniez.

You can sort of tell who is anti-pay, or at the very least, file-sharing sympathetic, if you look in the "Lost and Found" thread.  Sometimes someone will ask where a pay item comes from, and more often than not, someone will answer that it's from "such and such place" and that "you may have to... you know" or "Arr!".

I don't get into a lot of pro or anti paysite discussions over there, because I know that Boolprop Sims is a paysite.  But I've let it slip a couple of times (on purpose, of course) that I'm a pirate/file sharer without actually saying anything that could get me in trouble.

A friend of mine (from there and who I recently discovered is here as well) and I agreed that if Boolprop didn't have the monopoly on legacy advertising, we'd leave (both of us for personal reasons, and me personally because of the whole paysite thing - and probably them too considering they are here).

So, anyone interrested in contacting some specific online gaming magazines about this? Or are you only here to complain and download?

I'm interested. But how do we go about this contacting business? Should we just kind of forward the article onto them, along with other information that has been contacted? And I don't read gaming magazines, so I'm not sure who to contact. But I would like to help!

Ah, see this is where I'd like to jump in.  I've been saying to the husband for months now that someone - not necessarily me - but someone needs to write in to Games for Windows (the computer gaming mag we subscribe to - shit I said the "s" word!) because it would be interesting to see if they would have the cajones to write an article about T.G.P.D.  They are so focused on WoW right now (and have been for, oh I don't know, ever) that I'd be surprised if they even knew that an online community existed for The Sims2 (and not made up of only 12 year olds).  "Real gamers" read that magazine and putting it out there for them might just be what this debate needs for EA to take a stand.

So yeah, I'm all fired up now and about to fall asleep while I type, but I just wrote a long-ass letter that I plan on typing up and mailing in ASAP.  I'd send it via their feedback form, but I don't want to type it all up only to find out it has some sort of bullshit character limit.

I plan on including links to the FAQ here (as well as recommending the Arr! section of this site as a whole), Nouk's online petition, aeolson's online article (if that is okay with you aeolson), the "TSR is a sucky-ass sucky website" thread, and at least one other thread I found where folks are debating the legalities of not only paysites but file sharing.

Any one got any other links involving The Great Paysite Debate?  Either share 'em (because as Sparkle's signature states: Sharing is Caring) or if you write to any gaming mags (whether it be GfW or something else) include them yourself.  But we should definitely do this thing.

Here's an example: you live in a world where CD's are free. Then one day, a store starts charging for CD's. Are you really going to demonize that store just because they have started to charge for their CD's?

Yes, yes I would.

And this analogy just did not make sense to me at all:

It's like getting upset at Lindsay because she fell down at the gym because she didn't know how to work the treadmill.

Like RenegadeSims, I am also wondering if if he's referring to Lindsay Blohan.  Because there is a site that already does that... it's called the Superficial.

Personally I've never even been to this guy's site.  I'm just glad that another one has bit the dust.  And I really like the way he accused WNF of "demonizing" him, when in fact, with his little rant he has just demonized them.
