The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Carla Niven must be destroyed!

you'll find respect for anyone... who doesn't mock us demanding money. That's all. But that was my exact point. Mock Carl-WTF-ever, I have no issues with that, and in fact agree with OMGWTF-ness of both the downloads offered and that she or he or whatever expects people to pay. But the other sites and further community that in and of itself has nothing to do with the paysite issue in any way, and that Niven just happens to be a part of is what I was objecting to. I'm as anti-paysite as anyone else, especially ones with so much fugliness, but leave the rest alone. Live and let live and all that.

All I was saying is that that community, sad and no lives or not, haven't done anything to further the cause of paysites, unles you count allowing Carl-whatever to be a member and I didn't think it was entirely fair to be including them in a NivenMooreDrew bashing session.
I do find it interesting though that "if you don't like it, don't look" and "But this is what WE like to do" only works one way here. If you don't like people pretending to be sims, don't look, it's what THEY like doing *shrug*

You know, there is a difference between attacking a stuck up creator of suck-ass skins on an overpriced paysite, and attacking a community of players who happen to enjoy doing different things with their game and their imagination than you do.
The majority of that community have never bothered you, never opened paysites, and pretty much keep themselves to themselves.
It's not smart, or clever, or even funny, it's just narrow minded bigotry. Isn't that supposed to be one of the greatest thing about this game? Its diversity and the ability to customise and tailor the playing experience to suit individual tastes?
Or should we all be polling the Game Play Police (AKA you lot) before loading up a neighbourhood?

I fail to see how it's any different from the 14 bazillion "blogs" out there written from a sims point of view.
It's just another form of creativity and expressionism.

Or perhaps when trying to face the critiques here he/she used two different "sims" to present his/her views and rebuffs? I don't think whatever his or her name is, actually in any way believes these sims lives have anything to do with their own life, except maybe to live vicariously through them. But then can't we all be considered a little guilty of that? I live the high life through my sims all the time, lord knows I can't afford a fourbedrrom detached house with pool, hot tub and lavish gardens.

I know my opinion here is going to be unpopular, but I say again, when looking at the Palatial Heights Website, you have to take it in context, and the spirit in which it was intended. Makes it all slightly less bizarre. I know of plenty more people who have similar sites for their hoods, and a whole community based on the By Sims, For Sims ideal. OK, Yeah, the clothes suck, I'm not going to deny that, but maybe there's be slightly less WTF-age with the realisation that the "Carla" persona is just that, a sim character used to present downloads as an "online shopping" experience Sim Style.

The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Universal Sims...

The article stated the photos were of "young children". Children. No, actually, it didn't. It stated "young girls" I also know people who call me (over 25) a young girl, I know people who call anything from 14-20 a "young girl" It's all a matter of context and perspective. I'm not going to defend anyone, but what I am going to say is that lynching is counter productive, in any sense of the words. Pedophilia is a heated and touchy subject, emotions run high and people get all very excitable, but there is something important to remember here. Proof that someone had unsavoury pictures on their PC some number of years ago doesn't make them guilty of anything but that, plain and simple. You can suppose, you can speculate, you can accuse but that doesn't make it fact.

I can't believe I am about to do this, but I am actually going to defend at least the Palatial Heights part of things...
There's a site that has been around for about 5 years now called Simmerville, that is presented in a sim-to-sim basis and runs a "United Neighbourhoods" sort of Web ring encouraging members to make websites letting the other members know what is going on in their hood. It has a lot of unique and innovative ideas on game play, and even forums where sims can contact each other, again all on a sim-to-sim basis. Even downloads are presented in a sim-owned online shop environment, with different sims "fronting" different downloads. I believe this is what "Carla" is doing as well, and certainly that is what the Palatial Heights website is all about. OK, so really we may not think her "News" about her hood is exciting, it's in the spirit of the United Neighbourhoods, and therefore has a small amount of merit, in my eyes at least, for that fact alone.
And she's certainly not the only one either, the United Neighbourhoods listing it's quite expansive, and while some may be the same person with more than one hood, they can't all be.
