1  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / "donations" on: 2006 November 30, 04:16:45
She had no clue her son was mentally disturbed? That's ridiculous. She's delusional and wants to pass on the blame for her son's death. She probably doesn't want to face the fact that she ignored the warning signs. I wonder if she'd go after Monopoly if he'd been playing that before he killed himself.

My oldest cat is named Meow. It's what he said when we asked him what he wanted to be called so of course we had to respect his wishes.

I do not think there is anything wrong with a site ocassionally charging for a set when they do have a huge amount of free content. Not all of us have the priviledge of being able to get low cost space with a huge amount of bandwidth. For now my site is fine and will be free downloads and hopefully some people will help out with donations to keep it going for a long time to come Smiley

I guess it's a difference in how the term "donation" is used with me. A Paypal donation button is ok with me, I don't have any misgivings at all about donating when I can. However, I don't consider a donation set to fall under that for me. To me that goes over the line to a subscription, although in a small way. If you want the set you must pay for it. That's not a donation in my book. To me that's a paysite. A difference in how words are understood I guess.

Perhaps it's time to get more popcorn & soda ready? Looks like it's going to get real entertaining when the rude awakening comes.

6  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / For Lyriclee on: 2006 November 02, 19:13:27
I feel bad for her kids as well. If she treats them like she treats MTS2 members that she disagrees with, well I don't even want to think about that. As a parent myself her behavior disgusts me. I hope when her kids are adults they tell her to kiss off.

I mentioned all this drama to my good friend who's a family law attorney. Although she admits copyright law isn't her area of expertise she laughed at the whole thing and sarcastically wished luck for those who might want to prosecute players who share files. In her understanding of copyright law the creators really don't have much of a legal leg to stand on. Even if the judge eventually ruled in their favor it would take years and all the donations & subscriptions aren't going to help cover the $500 per hour attorney fees and other court costs. But that would unlikely happen as my friend believes the copyright belongs to EA who have the big nasty legal team. These paysites are living on borrowed time. If EA ever decided to come down on them it would be ugly. I've seen Disney do it to artists who paint or draw Disney characters.

Every time LyricLee opens her mouth, curses at others making valid points and banning them when she can't win it just makes her look even more stupid and pathetic. It's like a tragic comedy.
