The Pirate Ship / ARR! / New Information, Very Interesting
|
on: 2007 August 03, 03:22:24

Um, creepy. She's willing to give them some of her files in exchange for hosting. Sounds like selling a soul to the devil. And why do college professors need to hold students films, animations, and graphics hostage? It'd be like someone going up to a painter and saying "Hey, I'll let you use my studio if you GIVE me a certain amount of your paintings with no questions asked." There's something wrong with this whole idea >>

The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Pescado - Arrested?

You know what this means: Sasilla has Pescado in her game.
He looks pretty happy too. I bet she loves playing him. Paysite owners are going to win our battle for us.

The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: EA's TOU
|

C. Fees Charged By Third-Party Sites And Vendors. We may provide links to other web sites. Some of these web sites may charge separate fees, which are not included in any subscription or other fees that you may pay to EA. EA may also provide access to or through third-party vendors, who provide content, goods and or services on EA Online, the Internet or via wireless. Any separate charges or obligations you incur in your dealings with these third parties are your responsibility.
I was reading EA's TOU and found this. How does it affect the EULA or copyright? Aren't they saying that it is ok to sell content? This is just a question, because I really don't know. I'm pretty sure they're talking about advertisiments for the most part. Alot of games, etc. with websites have that in their TOU, otherwise someone might go "OMG!!! I clicked a flashy button on your site and those peoples talked me out of money, so now you have to pay me back cuz its all your fault!!!" I think they are waiting for Sims3. If I were them, I would want to see which side (paysite vs. pirate/freesite) burned out the fastest, and go with whatever the majority of the regular-joe fans want.

Ok I'm taking bets: This is either a Marilu asskisser or a Teko asskisser.
NO BETS UNDER 5 BUCKS AND/OR A BOTTLE OF RUM.
I'm in for 5 bottles on the Marilu asskisser!

It's kinda my fault I suppose (that you are going to pick on the Sims2studio-owner - she just made a clumsy copy of my note): I am sorry! No update. And it will take some time... You do ask yourself why? Well, let me explain it to you all: Due to the discussions all over the Sims2 Community about destroying paysites I have been thinking alot about it lately. I'm not a big supporter of paysites but they do exist and they won't disappear. EA doesn't make a clear statement, so what are the reasons for some people to force other sites to close because they offer pay content? Those people are worse than each of the paysite owners. They think they can judge about others, steal the work of them and offer it on so-called "pirate sites". Congratulations, you all are the world's greatest heroes. Ever. Did you ever consider that you are going to destroy the existing community as well? That you you are also cause hatred against free sites? Thanks alot of taking away the fun creating stuff for the Sims2.
I just support Solander's decision to take Pimp My Sims offline for some days. You should stop picking on sims2 creators. I was a bit shocked while reading in your forums. So much hatred... Don't you have a real life? Don't you know how the world looks outside of your computer? So, now, go on and slaughter me and feeding me to the sharks. Have fun! We are not picking on creators. We are trying to get paysite creators to understand that what they are doing is WRONG. EA has made their stance on this perfectly clear. Paysite owners descisions took the fun out creating. Not us. We are trying to give the fun of the game back to everyone in the community, not just those with extra money to burn. And yes I have a life and yes I go outside my computer everday. Why do you think only paysite creators have a life? ETA: Thanks Solander for giving us details. I'm sorry only .0004% thank you, so thankyou from me. But do you really want 1.5 million "Thanks" in one guestbook

Wow, that is plain evil. And since when does EA not make a clear statement. That girl is delusional. Blame the pirates for taking away free downloads! LOL!!! What a load. She's just doesn't want her kiddy followers figuring out that all she is a greedy bitch. ETA: To me that is just more proof paysites are dying slow and painful deaths.

I dont get much of what Solander said. I'm assuming someone didn't credit them or something similar, because I don't really see what else could have happened. Their TOS allows uploading with lots, etc. So that can't be the problem. And if he doesn't "care a shit", then why is he getting involved? And if it is such a "real minority", and he is so pissed about the community being destroyed, then why is he adding to the destruction and closing his very popular site for awhile. I lose respect for people who feel the need to take the toys away and sit us in a corner for awhile. Ugh. It's sad that free creators are being tormented, but they shouldn't let a few 12 year olds get to them so much. I wish he would have given more details.

The Pirate Ship / ARR! / New MTS2 Rules
|
on: 2007 July 22, 03:54:02
|
Did anyone else notice at the bottom of Delphy's post he mentioned he's leaving the community for awhile He's said that before I think. I think if he leaves even for just a couple weeks he announces it. So... uploaders can only use free content in their screenshots showing what they're offering for download? Or am I reading that wrong? I got that they just don't want people advertising for paysites. Like "hey, get this hot hair at Peggy's for only $toomuch". And they want dls in pics credited more. They're getting tired of WCIF in the creator feedbacks.

The Pirate Ship / ARR! / New MTS2 Rules
|
on: 2007 July 22, 03:32:44
|
I would say this is a step in the right direction: The Short Rules 1. Any uploads to MTS2 that require pay content will no longer be accepted for upload! 2. Any uploads to MTS2 that have optional pay content will no longer be accepted for upload! 3. All content must be showcased using free content only. This is definitely going to put a big hurt on the paysites. I think the pirates are going to win this battle. Although that does kind of put a dent in pay file sharing. Oh well, I guess thats what the official sites and personal sites are for ETA: Sorry if this is in the wrong spot, or has already been posted somewhere.

The Pirate Ship / ARR! / New confirmation
|
on: 2007 July 20, 15:31:18
|
Pirate Gem just wants confirmation on the .package thing. I agree with that. If we had something in writing from EA stating that .package files are also included in the "tools", then paysites just got their last itty bitty leg swept out from under them.
edit: argh! This thread went to fast and I posted a bit late. It was in response to Missangelica and Pirate Gem on page 1 >< And HP's link on another thread basically has that in writing. Yay!
