The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Your personal Anti-Paysite activism?

I'm sorry to say I haven't done much either. The only things I've done so far are:
1. Hold "booty parties" - there were some classmates who wanted stuff from paysites a couple of months ago (but whose parents are against file-sharing), so I invited them over to our house, gave them each a blank CD-R and directed them to the booty (where they downloaded to their hearts' content). Needless to say, they no longer have any interest in buying subscriptions or "donating" to panhandling (pay) sites.
2. Emailed my family and friends with links to the booty and to the front page of PMBD so that they could read Pescado's message.
3. Signed Nouk's petition.
4. Wrote a letter to EA for Hecubus' campaign.
5. PM'ed some people at a couple of forums, giving out the links to PMBD and the booty.
6. Try to write encouraging messages in the guestbooks of free sites, and I press the "thanks" button religiously at MTS2.
7. Directed people to Nouk's site (so that they could read what EA had said and to download good, free hair) and to her screenie that verified that EA did indeed respond to her.
I would really like to do much more to help the cause, and when our financial situation improves, I'd like to buy a couple of subscriptions so that I can download the stuff and pass them to whoever would put them in the booty.

Oh, that's true! Thomas could flaunt all the new talent he's bringing in from the outside, and the SA's would still post nice things and smile through it all. It's like they want to be FA's so bad that they're willing to take any kind of abuse from him as long as there's still hope that they'll be next. I'm glad you got out of there and that PutanginaMo is making her own site too.

Come on, 25 Euros, that is 33,90 USD 10 people buying her set and she is in plus! And I bet there were a few hundred peple buying her set  I never thought of that, but it makes sense because she had a lot of people who loved her stuff. Didn't she first establish herself at Meshkiste, a free site? Wait! Isn't Brigit the one who has files that override Maxis' stuff?

If they really want to make concessions to the community, why not put out better stuff. Tosh! Obviously you have to do the opposite--i.e. make everything PAY for a day. Then we'll see who is faithful to the Sims and who isn't, and that'll prove how much we need these paysites in our lives in order to maintain a balance in the universe. I mean, really. Heather wouldn't lie to me about that--there is nothing wrong or foolish about that plan....Or something. Ah Heather! The voice of reason in the Sims community. Yes, we should all follow her lead. This whole idea might work if a forced lobotomy happened with every download. True. But you know what? There will always be sheep who will look at this "community" project and think that TSR is a god who generously doles out free gifts for the peasants. Then there are the fence-sitters who might get taken in by all this without questioning the motives behind this project.

Well, what it boiled down to was the ops were forced to babysit the chatroom instead of the room policing itself. It became a job for them that they weren't getting paid for. The bad apples (and there were new ones every day) ruined it for everyone. That's how it always goes, unfortunately. Thanks for explaining it to me, btw. I thought Nengi65 retired? Does this mean that she took her toys off of MTS2 and closed her free site down so she could join a paysite? That's a good question, and I was surprised to see her name up there too. I don't think she joined TSR, I think she just wanted to follow Lyric into this project. Either that, or Nengi was talked out of retirement for at least a short time. I don't know.

It doesn't sound like she ever did it for the fans but for cold hard cash. Yet the thing is, if it wasn't for her fans she would be...nothing. That's something these paysite owners seem to forget.

25 Euros a month? I'm sure she could have gotten a better hosting plan somewhere else. Her logic makes no sense because her stuff is going to be pirated from TSR anyway. Now she works for TSR as she earns her money there and does not have to take care for evil filesharers It's nice to see where her true priorities lie. It wasn't for the fans because she was moaning about downloaders grabbing her free stuff. ETA: I wish her fans that don't read German could see where her thoughts really lie. Plus, if she's blaming pirates for her site closing, wouldn't this qualify as a full killmark?

Whoops.
Why did Delphy close down the chatroom? I never went in there either, but there were a lot of people who used to love going in there.

That LyricLee sure gets around. She's become an admin at Carrigon's old site now, too. Trust her to be at the bottom of this TSR project  I wasn't surprised either for some reason. What I am shocked at is that she's an admin on another site besides Exnem's. She also has weezled her way into becoming an op in the antisocial chat room. She's an op in TSR's chatroom? How in the world did she manage that, and what is she like in there? I've never been inside TSR's chatroom - I heard that it was real cliquey.

It's funny. I keep saying really lame things and I can think of at least a handful of posts that I'm really puzzled that nobody has come down on. I like your posts, and they make me laugh. Guess it's just a lack of entitlement. I don't expect people to lick my feet (ticklish anyway) or to get a happy, welcome-to-the-family-kiss-kiss-dahlink deal. Same here. Plus, I don't expect to be trusted right away. Like Nouk said in a post awhile back, anybody can just come on here and pretend to be something they're not. Although coming on here to spy is stupid because we can see just about anything on the board without signing in.

I was never abused either, and everybody's been pretty cool with me (even when I say some dumb things when I'm really tired). I figured the quote would be a good way to show newbies that this place isn't known for it's warm and fuzzies.
