Oh no. Someone is doing something selflessly! At the same time, when MTS2 announced the last donation drive, they were over their goal within 72 hours. Nobody had to be given an incentive. The community was simply asked "hey, people, we need money, little help?" and because they are so loved everyone banded together to pay for the new server. My best example of a wonderful free-site is http://all-about-style.com/ Judie always has beautiful content FOR FREE and she never asks for anything from us. She could use the bandwidth excuse or succumb to the greed of TSR but she doesn't. The Sims 2 community is unique in that there is a large portion of us that have rejected the commercializm of other venues.


*edit* I just had an amazing idea! We should make an award for those sites that are examplary community members. They should be everything that a free-site should be. By posting them here we could effectively advertise those that are good and by giving them a graphic award for their site to display *if they wanted to* we could bring more people into the fold. It would also serve to show that we do love legitimate, free sims site and drive home the point that we do not redistribute free files.

at this point i think we're just feeding an ego by continuing to post in this thread. so let us fix this:

did anyone else notice how quickly this got around, that we had taken notice of the situation? shino was johnny on the spot with a registration and *his/her* side of the story. i don't think there was an agreement to keep the freesite up. i think that the TSR spies got wind of the thread, hit Shino up for an explanation as to why their newly acquired content was up for free and he/she/it came running over here to bitch. someone was wanting to eat their cake and have it too.

maybe they're confused about what it means to be owned by TSR. they could be trying to subvert the system but it seems unlikely. its probably just a fluke that will be corrected soon. especially when the spies read this thread.

I personally don't really care one way or the other about this policy change. I quit creating for MTS2 a long time ago because I don't have the time to make sure I've complied with every little rule they have. It stopped being fun and I found myself spending more time on rules than creating. I understand the push for quality and I am apparently not the sort of creator they're after. That's ok. My stuff was crap anyhow. I do think its important not to showcase pay items but I do think the policy  should be extended to free items from paysites. If they don't want to advertise for paysites then don't. period. It will stifle the creativity of the artists to a certain extent but that wont matter much since MTS2 has become a repository for the genaric and mundane . They seem to have lost that creative spark from the early days. There's very little unique content coming out of that community any more. I don't think this policy will change that.

i wonder if it would be possible to start a big enough net rumor that a popular paysite was shutting down and get people to swarm the site and kill their bandwidth . . .

how could this possibly be "too far"? when i first read the title of this post i thought maybe someone was using sneaky tactics to renew memberships and upping their prices without notice, or maybe someone had made a child prostitution hack . . but seriously men in dresses? that is soooo last millenium.

Ok. . . so I've never seen H&M in real life. Maybe I don't pay attention but honestly . . do they REALLY sell clothing that looks like this? I just don't believe it.
 Its absolutely hideous but the mesh may be useful provided it doesn't have any weirdness i occasionally experience with stuff packs.
