He could just be utterly embarassed about how much he paid for the site, now that it turns out it was probably too much. It doesn't exactly make him look like a savvy businessman.

ZOMG there are communities with more drama than Sims 2 *blinks* Now that's a revelation. Also, wtf? Board wars over different pairings in Harry Potter porn???
I'm glad for reading that msscribe thing, cause it makes S2 community look like a teaparty.

The Pirate Ship / ARR! / New MTS2 Rules
|

I believe Angha Tyl sums it up quite nicely. MTS is a big site, with a lot of staff, about half of which doesn't morally agree with what PMBD is doing. I believe Calalily said somewhere up there that you can be pro-free but not necessarily pro-booty. In a way, we can't afford to be radical. The idea of pirates and the booty scares a lot of ordinary simmers that have no time to contemplate all this, it also scares quite a few creators. There have to be ways to support free content, without being in your face about it. Otherwise, a lot of people would be scared off, and we don't want them running into the nice cosy world that is TSR, now do we? If you see the radical reactions of some to allowing PMBD links in siggies (I've seen delphy called the head of the terrorist organisation, for christ's sake), you can guess that we need to take small steps, one at a time. There needs to be more than two parties. Sure, some paysite fanatics will lump every pro-free site in with the pirates, but most will see different shades of grey. I hope i'm not offending anyone when i say that PMBD is a bit more radical in it's politics. But MTS is first and foremost a free downloadsite. It's sole purpose is not to destroy paysites.
We've discussed this change among staff for a very long time. And the thought of banning paysites has arisen. The problem is, where do you draw the line? Places like XM Sims and Around the Sims have tons of good content, but also a few donation sets. Would we dismiss ALL of them? Or arbitrarily block the ones that are deemed evil? By focusing on the content, and not the sites, we're promoting free content. Anyone willing to be advertised will notice that recolours and pictures of free stuff goes on mts2, and will, hopefully, make more free stuff.

The Pirate Ship / ARR! / New MTS2 Rules

Feverish, rule 2 applies mostly to houses and sims. If there is, say, a sim that is shown with peggy's latest pay hair, that hair is not necessary for the sim to work. You can change the hair if you want. However, the sim will look very different without it. That's why the sim, in the picture, should be put in a hair that the downloader *can* get without paying.

The Pirate Ship / ARR! / TSR IS A SUCK-ASS SUCKY WEBSITE

Here's her response: ModTheSims has hacks which allow teen sims to become pregnant with alien babies and also have adult wants and wants to woohoo. ModTheSims also hosts anatomically correct skintones. TSR does not support the use of anatomically correct skintones or the use of mods allowing teens to woohoo or become pregnant.
They *really* need to find a new excuse. Anatomically correct skins and, in fact, all adult stuff, has been moved to Sexy Sims 2, what, a year ago? And the inteenimator is on Insim. The 'no linking to mts' has very little to do with adult content, methinks.

The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Not paysite-related : Delphy lols.

TheVanity,
Kelly had a fit at some point a few months ago and did exactly the same thing, on a smaller scale. She ranted on a few forums, throwing dirt and digging up articles. She's a drama whore that needed attention. Nothing more.

Ok, for the record, and while we're on the topic of Lyric As one of the vigorous members of the Delphy cult I was there with the whole firing debacle. I do think she believes her part of the story.
Obviously she was hurt when she got fired. MTS2 was her life. She was on it twelve hours a day. She was obsessed with it, which is what made her a worse moderator. If there's not much besides moderating, the idiots start getting to you and you take everything personally.
Reading her blog is like looking at her. She demodded herself how many times? Two? Three? Four? And whenever the staff came together and fixed it, she'd come back and abuse them. She'd lash out that people were trying to take over. We let her, for the longest time. Because she did do a lot of work. Because she could be very convincing. Probably also because she abused people in private messages, which made them doubt themselves, rather than stand up.
So she was hurt, and paranoid to begin with, and has been generally ignored by the community for a few months, bar the incident with Kelly, who has been strangely quiet in this affair. If you tell yourself stories for long enough, you do start believing them. You do see signs in anything and everything. I've been in such a mental state and what it takes to get out of it, is to do something else. leave the community, get a friggin job and make something of your life. That's it, it's that easy.
Go on, lyric.

oh gawd, not this again.
it's a fact that several people don't like Delphy, for whatever reasons. it's also a well known fact that at least three of them are drama queens. Drama queens need attention. Since we have been ignoring the likes of Lyric and (s)porky for several months now, they decide to kick up crap that has been dealt with fifty thousand times before, over and over again. The only thing mts2 and s2c can do about it, is clean up the crap and keep on ingoring the bitches, cause they're really not worth the air they breathe.
I find it intriguing that, since delphy went 'pro-free' with his statement, his past is now part of the paysite debate. I also find it intriguing that Lyric knew about that article several months or years before she decided Delphy was evil and dangerous to society(which, oddly enough, coincided with her being fired).

The Pirate Ship / ARR! / So it begins... Or something slightly less dramatic

Ok, Liegenschonheit, I jumped to conclusions. It was something that struck me, on your site. While I don't agree with what you're doing, it would make sense to me if you went 'all the way'.
As for the reasonc cc creators have to upload their stuff, I don't think you can tell them 'why' they should be doing it. Different creators have different reasons. Some do it for the money, some for 'fame' and some for fun or whatever. I know I started cause I was unemployed and had too much time on my hands, not to mention that the compliments I got upped my self esteem a *lot*. Enough to keep going and *do* get a good job (which means I now have hardly any time to make meshes). Sappiness aside, it's probably not a good move to tell creators to go home if they're doing it for the thanks. Nothing ever comes for free, and I think a huge majority of cc creators upload their stuff, at least in part, for the attention and thanks it gets them. And really, is it that much to ask? That's why the TOS's are sometimes long, and why they would get upset if you take that away from them.

angelica, ok, so I slipped and ranted. at least it made me feel better What I meant to say was this: Yippee, you stupid little egotistical bacteria, you and your attitude deserve to be hung from a tree and set on fire. also, I partly understand Liegenschonheit. I do. It tends to get annoying, having to click through sites, especially the flash ones where you can't link the actual page the mesh is on. Not to even mention the pay meshes. However. I also get cc creators. And so does Liegenshonheit. The fact that marvine's meshes, for instance, *aren't* included, means she knows very well that it'd upset him, and that she respects that. Or that she doesn't want to get in trouble with Insim. So why not respect other free mesh creators? It's been stated that HP, to name one example, will not be taking down her meshes. They're easy to access, her policy is pretty damn liberal, but somehow she got the wrong end of the deal. I have no problem with meshes being included when they're no longer available, or hard to get at, or hidden behind pay screens. But I really don't see why you have to basically tread on someone's TOS, just for the heck of it. What good does it serve to piss meshers off? Without pretty meshes, there's no pretty recolours either. Meshers and recolourers have to find ways to work together. And respecting each other is one of the basics. Or does everyone want to make dresses for maxis meshes?

Note: below is a generalisation of all downloaders. I'm sure you know of yourself if you're one of them. Let's just say I can't be bothered to nuance, since i'm pissed.
[rant]
Ok, WTF is wrong with asking for the teensiest little something back? A lot of people in this thread are looking very much like a bunch of whining brats. Sure, they get lots of CC (great, free CC) and free help from people like HP, and it's never enough.
"What! ONOES! I have to READ something?" "ONOES, I have to respect someone's wishes?!!!"
Fuck that, you want everything, and you want it on your own damn terms. Nevermind that it was given away free. Nevermind that a lot of meshers do it, not for the money, but for what little thanks they get. I know HP does, and so do I. But no, pushing a thanks button is too much to ask, finding a rar-extractor is too much to ask. Hey, let's wish all cc creators to hell for even voicing their opinion in a rational way! How dare they have a TOS! How dare they ask for a little respect!
And then, when you've got someone to the point where they give up, you complain that they're dramawhores. Lovely.

Hyperkitty,
I'm pretty sure Lizard isn't Lyriclee, at this point. This is not the kind of thing Lyric would do, and not the language/writing style she would use.
