Let's see.
TSR [Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah]
Are you sane? None of this justifies stealing from TSR. If you don't like TSR, don't go there. I am sure they will not miss you -- after all, you have no intention of paying them anyway. If you don't like their stuff, don't download it and use it. Again, I don't think TSR really cares if you don't like something that you downloaded from a pirate site. I think their answer would be, if you don't like it, don't put it in your game. D'oh! As far as me, I have no connections with TSR. Never have met or communicated with Thomas or any of his cronies, and I really don't care to. However, I have owned several businesses of my own, and have learned that the bigger a pain in the ass someone is, the less likely it is they are paying you. One reason for charging for things like content is that the mere act of asking for money chases away the majority of whiners.

Actually - this is PMBD - the reason we are called Paysites Must Be Destroyed is primarily because of the repeated violations of EA's EULA by paysites. You have to realize that the whole EULA thing is unadulterated bullshit. First, the EULA itself is of questionable legal validity. From a contract point of view, there is no consideration supporting it. Without consideration, it does not form a binding contract. (At least in the eyes of some courts, that is.) Even if the EULA is valid, EA has the exclusive right to enforce it. The EULA does not give any rights to anyone but EA. In law, this is governed by the doctrine of Jus Tertii. In most cases, a Jus Tertii argument does not hold water. In any case, EA does not interpret its EULA the same way you do. In fact, EA apparently condones pay sites, and may actually be in cahoots with TSR. At the very least, they are aware of TSR's activities and have taken no action to shut them down. They have not been so kind to other sites. (Back Alley Sims comes immediately to mind.) Finally, I would not that there is a whole thread on MATY consisting of items pirated from EA's store. Certainly, no on is stating that EA is violating it's own EULA or is even bound by it. Like any ordinary thief, the people making the EULA argument are just trying to find a justification for their thievery.

Statements of opinion or pure opinion are not actionable: This backs up what I previously said.
Unless those opinions imply specific facts. When you call someone a pedophile, that is more than an opinion. It is a statement of fact about someone's character and behavior -- just as calling someone a liar, a thief, a cheat or a murderer.

Wow, you so posted that on the wrong board. Prepare for a verbal bashing and onslaught of cat macros. This site is about getting rid of paysites, and all the shitty (as seen) creations on them. If we can't bash paysite creations on here, where the bloody hell can we?
I am fully aware of that. Let's be honest about what is going on here. We have a bunch of cheapass tighwads with a sense of entitlement, who don't feel they should have to actually pay for certain digital goodies. They then are trying to justify stealing those goodies. They simply don't want to say the truth: "I am a thief." Instead, they try to justify their theft with all sorts of lame excuses -- just like any other thief. In the process, they lash out at perfectly innocent people. This thread is a perfect example of lashing out. Yes, you may have a beef with Thomas at TSR. But no one here has a legitimate beef against someone who posts content to TSR for free. Its one thing to be a tightwad and a thief, but one really does not have to be an asshole about it as well.

Oh... my... gosh! *runs away screaming*
Have you really thought about what you are doing here? TSR and MTS are bascially in the same business: both sites basically make money off of free content provided by other people. TSR does it by charging for advertising and by charging a fee for access to some, but not all, of its content. MTS makes money by selling advertising on its site. (Have you noticed that just about every page on MTS has an ad? Do you think those ads are free?) It's like the difference between "free" television and "pay" television. You don't pay to see a television show on CBS, you are just subjected to a barage of advertising. In contrast, you pay to watch a show on the Sci Fi channel, but you are not subjected to as much advertising -- they primarily advertise their own programs. Does this mean that CBS is a charitable or non-profit company? In some ways, the "free" model is more profitable. Google and Yahoo have grown from little to big companies off of the money they make from advertising -- in large part by using the free content provided by others. They provide little or none of their own content. Most of the people contributing to both TSR and MTS do not see a dime for their contributions. So why mock any of them? Just because you don't think you should have to pay for content really does not justify trashing people who contibute to any of these sites.

Evie, T$R's resident Pedo. Nasty, nasty pedo.
And do I need to point out that calling somebody a pedophile without anything but rumour and speculation to back it up is libel and therefore a criminal offence? Of course, by the same token, it would be really hard to prove up a claim of Libel. After all, almost everyone on the internet goes by a handle/pen name. Almost no one uses their real name on these sites. So comments effectively are made anonymously against anonymous/fictitious individuals. This makes it rather difficult for anyone to actually claim that they have been harmed by a defamatory statement. After all, the whole idea of using a fictitious name is to protect oneself against retaliation for the things one posts or says online.

I haven't noticed any of his houses lacking a toilet, even if he was forced to stick it in the basement. It's really hard to build small houses with more than 1 bedroom for a newly made sim -- if you are trying to save a little money or a little room, having your sims use the kitchen sink is a good compromise. It's really not THAT difficult. Of course, that is the challenge of building a starter home: providing as much value as possible with a very limited amount of funds. A big part of Plastic Box's schtick is building 2 story starter homes with a split staircase. However, those staircases waste a lot of space and money (as do basements). Also, I question whether it really is a starter when it is built on a small lot, and one has to purchase a larger lot to use it in game. But the question really is: would you buy a house with bathrooms which did not have a sink? Or one where the only toilet was in the basement? Maybe a better use of available funds would be to buy the damn sink (and the space to put it in) and not that extra tree to prettify the place.

Just in case anyone missed it (and I don't think I saw it posted in this thread yet) the always-talented Plasticbox has been uploading a ton of things for TS3, including adorable lots and some gorgeous siding. But have you noticed that a lot of these houses have bathrooms which lack toilets, sinks, and sometimes both? I mean, how do you feel about a bathroom which has a toilet, but no sink?

The internet is an interesting place, isn't it? People upload all sorts of stuff to sites, who in turn make a lot of money off of that free content. The creators of the content never see a dime.
It's not just the Sims stuff. Think of sites like Facebook, Youtube, and all of those Google blogs. Most sites merely sell access to advertisers and are content with the advertising revenue. Of course, that revenue is big bucks. Even MTS has ads on just about every page, which probably bring in excess of $100,000 per year.
What makes TSR so different is that not only do they charge for the advertising, but they charge for membership as well -- even though that charge is rather minimal. It's a trade off of sorts; more members mean more advertising bucks -- charging for membership reduces it.
It is clear that they do not review the content all that closely. But, then again, neither do sites like MTS -- I mean I have downloaded and had to fix a lot of crazy stuff (inaccessible beds, trees in toilets and the like.) In fact, it probably is not in their best interest to review this too carefully. A rejected submission is an unhappy member who is less likely to renew their membership.
SOMEBODY probably had a good laugh at TSR's expense. It's sort of like the pet rocks which were so popular a few decades ago. Upload a creation which really is not a creation and see if it is accepted.
