The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Ea makes statement March 2 making paysites ok?

Super tinfoil hat time.
So what if, EA after years of watching our community fork over cash for buggy, substandard crap says "Hey we should cash in on that" and decides to talk to TSR, the biggest peddlers of buggy substandard crap of all. EA doesn't want to code well - as they'll be expected to if they start releasing additional content properly - and TSR doesn't want competition. It's a match made somewhere very hot. Since it's late to convert existing customers (after eight years of being a free community it's not going to fly) they'll introduce it as a "feature" of sims 3.
EA plans to lock the game and makes it as difficult as they can to mod or change without their required tools. Then they make people pay for additional content or distribute licenses to do so. EA gets a share of the profit and none of the responsibility. TSR is the flagship enterprise that cements this merge. Since everyone else can only make new colors of cow print textures until they get their licence they bend to EA's will. Until then all EA has to do is play both sides and tell them everything is gonna be OK.
Now Thomas is grinning like a cat who ate a canary. He's too stupid to keep it under his hat and let it surprise sheeple into complying. He wants to feel like the big man now, like he used to. Insert the last few months of complete and utter graceless stupidity. He behaves like a trust fund baby who knows Mama can get him out of jail. This ends in the debacle of Reflex Forum closing due to internal strife directly caused by his meddling. This rubs a few thousand people entirely the wrong way and is not part of EA's plans.
EA in the face of overwhelming evidence of not just any paysite but their new partner's misdeeds, bullying, and general destructive behavior, but not wanting to incite additional rage (and sensing their plans may have already gone extremely awry) says in completely mumbled doublespeak "Uh...let's play nice guys." In hopes of being able to salvage the tenacious hold on their skippy idea to make extra money. Rage ensues anyway, film at 11.

So many of us saw that something seriously fishy was happening. We didn't say anything because it was a "free" site, and because anyone who tried to go up against Kathy would be screamed at by her and many of her followers. That's fucked up. This is absolutely true, they got away with far more than they should have. Really this is the grand finale of their mistreatment of their members and abuse of (perceived) power. The fireworks were going off ages ago but many of us who weren't as close just kind of looked the other way. In retrospect, what else could we have done? I am glad that we stood up to this. Learning to say NO and mean it is a valuable lesson, and we learned it as a community. On a side note, I wouldn't worry about the kids so much. I was a 12 by maty definition in sims 1 days and went through a very large drama bomb on the uberpastel forum I frequented. And guess what? It didn't destroy my simming experience. On the contrary, it got me out into the rest of the sims community which exposed me to sites where I could express my actual opinions. (Which also incidentally included not worshiping paysites which was not an option at the smile mafia forum I had frequented.) Overall it was a good thing.

So a guy who has nothing to do with the sims and no personal investment in the situation swoops down and buys one of the largest sims communities, which the creators have sold part and parcel without a peep to the mods, users or anyone. Great. (I don't know how anyone could ever trust people in marketing. They only want what they can get out of you and they are horrible at hiding it.) To make things worse he doesn't play video games, so it's abundantly clear this is nothing but opportunity for riches in his greedy little eyes. (Did he really just admit at his age his Mom is bankrolling him? Lollin forever.) Shame on Kathy and Eric. I know they have friends that will chide me but I wont take that back. If they were sick of the site, there are lots of qualified people in the community they could have turned it over to. If they really did care things wouldn't have been handled this way and there's nothing nice about what's going on right now. I don't think they'll be back this time. They did this on purpose to flip off the community and make a little extra cash on their way out. This is the way they decided to say goodbye. Klassy.

I wish someone would fix that bed and make it available A lot of people lately have taken bed frou frou like pillows, blankets and such and made it into decorative objects separate from the bed itself. This way beds can retain maxis sheets that will cover sleeping contortions properly, and if you are so inclined you can take it off when your sims are sleeping, or leave it off all together. Best of all it can be used on more than one bed. I wish more people would do bedding that way instead of ignoring the awful sleeping animations.

Is it just me, or do the faces on all of Chaz's sims look greasy?
Yes, aparently part of his special "charm" is that he rolls his sims in Crisco before uploading them. I highly suspect people who love Chaz are playing with very old computers and/or intergrated graphics cards on lower end machines. Let me tell you, there are a LOT of "ew" and "meh" things that look fantastic played in a game with the lowest settings on a 12 inch tube monitor.

The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: More Smutty Than You: TSR's Hall of Shame

That's not about opinions - that's about a specific drama unrelated to paysites. I read that drama at the time - I dunno if it's still there since she came back - but it was interesting *and* sleazy. I read that as 'be less stupid' rather than 'stop having opinions'. Kathy doesn't mind some lulzy drama, but some of what was going on there was downright stupid. Oh, I see. Well I didn't know about any sleezy drama going on. Regardless I stand by the statement that it's poor form to say "We need money plz friends" and "Gonna banninate yoooou" in the same statement. I suppose she meant it to come across as the sheriff being back in town, but it really comes off as absurd, and at worst a little nasty. (And if she's really going after the stupid on that forum she's going to need some fire and fishing boots because it's knee deep at this point.) Also...will someone tell me what the Chairman Greg references are about? I hadn't heard about any recent detours from reality he's taken.

You guys missed the fun little "warning" on insimadult. And last but not least, I have been informed that this site has been quite the little drama cess pool lately. Bottom line this ends today or I lock every single area that is for discussion. This site is not a site for you to abuse other members, regardless of their personal opinions and will not be treated as such. Drama, bullshit and peoples personal agenda's will no longer be tolerated so let this serve as a warning to everyone, keep it up and these areas will be removed. So...no one is allowed to have an opinion anymore or she'll lock the entire forum. (BTW the forum needs more money!) I tried to hold on to that forum, there's a lot of cool people there. But if it's going to end up tsr like police state that little "You haven't participated" nag can just stay there forever for all I care. I can grab the goodies and ignore the site like whoa. Yeah, she's free to run her forum any way she likes but i'm free to tell her to go fuck herself in response.

What a delightful explosion that was. I'm sure she'll pop up somewhere, there's plenty of rocks she can shimmy under in the meantime. But good sim soceity won't have her now because she'll taint the name of whatever enterprise she's involved with. She's a grown ass woman and it's about time her chickens came to roost so she'll learn how to act like one. I don't feel sorry for her, I feel sorry for the people she messed with playing her petty little games. However, clearly she's messed with the wrong people this week. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r86fKe8U6X4&feature=related

Well somebody call the wahambulance. I hadn't even heard of his site before just now. I hope his CC was better than his logic.
We shouldn't seriously care about paysites because it's not really really real life don't ya know. But we should care about his feelwings about paysites being ok sometimes because he has one and that's terribly important even though he doesn't care about it. He didn't care so much she took down his site and put up a rant about how unfair it is to be a paysite right now even though they made money hand over fist for years and damn he wish he had one sooner. We should feel so guilty right now !!1111
Ok, sure whatever loser.
