Thomass and his Lowly Lackies really need to watch their step now that their unethical business practices are no longer secret. They may boast about being chummy with EA, but when if they become a liability for EA because of more bad PR, EA will toss them out like yesterday's garbage.

They really don't learn do they? "Lets have PMBD's host close their account, that'll solve everything!", epic fail. They got Coconut's blog taken down, only to see it be put back up on a different browser within 24 hours or less. Reflexsims forum, shut down by a T$R lackey, was up and running within a few days. Given those examples, you would think that they would stop the "whining to web hosts" tactic, as it obviously doesn't work.
But it does, at least for a bit. Every time someone shuts them down, there is a wait for a new host to be found. There is an annoyance factor too, because while the person is looking for a new place, that's probably less time they're working on taking down TSR. It also is good PR for them. "Well look, Coconut MUST be full of it, because her journal is always in violation of terms and is canceled!" Yes, we know that a lot of websites would rather lay down and die, then fight to protect their client's rights. The backfire though, with Coconut, is that TSR hunted her and hunted her until she came here, where she's got a lot more freedom. Yes, that's a backfire on TSR, but again, it gives them credibility with their customers who are on the fence, but leaning towards them. "Well, Coconut must be wrong, because she's been kicked off of all these sites!" Notice how TSR has never mentioned in a public forum that they are single handedly responsible for getting Coconut off of every host she's been on. Nope, they talk to their customers about her, as if she's a silly little annoyance. "Oh, she's just an embittered baby who we wouldn't let be an FA, so she's having a temper tantrum about it!" is their attitude. They try to make it sound like they can hardly be bothered. Yet they were so not bothered that they felt the need to follow her around and threaten every place she went with "legal action." They were so not bothered that they even got Paleoanth shut down from Live Journal for posting nothing but a few messages. Yeah, that's amazingly not bothered. Some of these ISP's need to grow a spine and do some checking before they just delete. Especially Livejournal. It used to be that some kid could publish the name and phone number of another user, enouraging everyone to call this person and harass them, and the worst he got was suspended for a couple days, then bang, got his journal back. And this happened several times. Now it's like anyone can say, "Legal action!" and livejournal just deletes them. I wish I had a server in the United States that I could put a mirror of Coconut's journal on, just so I could say, "Forgive me for taking so long to respond, but after reading your threat, I was too busy laughing my ass off to get back to you. Good luck with your lawsuit!" I agree, the whining thing with Coconut worked; But this is Livejournal we're talking about. They've gotten too popular for their own good and want to protect their reputation, kind of like T$R . I don't think time would not be wasted working on taking down T$R if PMBD's host gave them the boot. PMBD has a lot more support behind it than does T$R, and that support extends outside of this forum. Forum or no, they will probably never prevent their files being shared. Music industry tried it, movie industry tried it, and they both failed. The same will happen to T$R, its really a matter of when they quit attacking others for it.

Secondly, the fact that it affected subscriber accounts. Why were only these accounts affected? Why were they so easy to breach? Does that mean all admin staff have access to subscriber account passwords, and other details? Why were subscribers not told that their details may have been yoinked? Again, shows that subscriber info is far from safe with TSR.
It's a lose-lose situation for subscribers. If their account info hasn't been hacked by an outside source, they'll still have their privacy and security compromised by T$R, who attaches spyware to their pay-files. It is wise for Delphy to examine all sides of the issue. The accuser is the one who is guilty if the person they accused is innocent, i.e. if Delphy pointed the finger at T$R and it turns out that it wasn't them, that would look really really bad and give T$R bashing ammunition.

I can't believe this man considers himself an adult male. This is pre-adolescent female queen bee behavior, or the behavior of a middle aged woman who was picked on by the queen bee. If you have a problem with someone, it should be discussed in a civil manner; Doing petty things behind the scene is childish and stupid.

Agreed Soggy. I wouldn't send my kid to the mess they call public schools now days. And I majored in Early Childhood Education. Where I live all they are concerned about teaching the kids is how to pass the SOL's (Standards of Learning). That isn't teaching that's memorizing crap. I call them the Shit out of Luck. Poor children don't know what the world is really like.
Yes, that is a HUGE problem. It was budding when I was in elementary school, but now it's an epidemic! Kids are basically being taught to do well on standardized tests, and nothing more. I encourage any parent to either send their kid to private school ( if they can afford it) or have them home-schooled. Public schools HAVE TO give these standardized tests to make sure that the school is on par with the "standards" that have been set by the state. If your school comes back with lower overall reading and math scores, there's going some probing, and some people may lose their jobs. So, instead of having kids LEARN, they "teach for the test", which is creating a generation of good test takers, who can't do anything else. There's a 6th grade teacher's blog (need to find the link), in which he writes about an experiment he did. He gave his class an earth science test. When grading them, he recorded that most of the class received B's or above. The following week, he gave a pop quiz, which was on the exact same material they had taken on the prior test, only with different questions. All but 2 of the 30 kids in the class FAILED. The 2 students that did pass were B/C students, whereas all of the honor roll students failed with everyone else. So, what does that tell you about our current education system ? Around here it doesn't matter if you are in Public school, Private school, or home schooled, you have to take standardized tests. You start in 3rd grade with them. And then when you get to 10th grade you start taking the graduation test. Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies. And they are some the stupidest things ever. When I took my writing one, I lost points because I didn't write in a manor they liked. You have to write like a robot for them to like it, and not use huge words, creative writing styles (I was writing a fictional story for god's sake, and it was supposed to be written like a report). But you start taking it spring of 10th grade, and then retake any parts you don't pass in the fall, then spring, until you are a senior. If you don't pass something by spring of senior year(and we had people that didn't pass one test by less then 10 points) you have 2 choices. You either go to a month long class in June to prepare for it, and take it again in July. If you pass then you graduate in August. If you don't want to take it again, you don't graduate at all. Most of the teachers I had were some of the most opened mined people you could meet. They could see and understand why we did this, but they felt that it was done in the wrong way. The middle school I went to was know all over the city as an arts school, there would be about 150 incoming 6th graders a year, and a waiting list of about 1000. When you get to the school, you find out it was a great art school 5 years ago, when I was there and now, there is hardly any art integrated into normal classwork. Its because of all the damn tests. We have had people drop out of school because they can't handle the tests. To combat the drop out rate, the state raised the age to drop out to 18. So now people go to school, don't give a damn at all cause they know they can't graduate. Wow. Where do you live?! I'm sure that tax payers would not be pleased to find out that their money is going to schools that are more concerned about test scores, rather than helping their children to learn. The closest thing to a standardized test that I took in HS was the PSAT. We were told that, since it was a private institution, they were not required to give standardized tests. I think they compensate for the lack of test scores with the annual graduation rate which, for my class, was 98%. Of course, they made that possible by making you take an entrance exam before admission, and expelling you if your GPA was below a 2.0 for 2 semesters in a row. We saw A LOT of people vanish after summer break. I don't think public schools can legally do that. If they could, they probably would.

In the college I'm at now, people actually get called "nerds" for getting good grades. I was gobsmacked for a week when I heard that; I hadn't heard someone get teased for being smart since ninth grade or so. Also, it is very common for people to talk and play with their cell phones during class. Oh, and they bitch and moan if they have to read one whole book. Basically, schools in the south in the U.S. don't prepare kids for college one whit, and this is what happens.
Don't even get me started on the texting issue, it drives me crazy. Actually, most of the US public high schools don't prepare kids for college. I went to Catholic school and SAT prep was a required class. They walked us through filling out apps, choosing a school, etc. We also had a block schedule, with 4 classes for 80 minutes each day. That is REALLY useful, as I now have classes that are 4hours long. My little sister is in high school and they still push the 8 classes a day thing which leads to a ridiculous amount of homework. SAT/ATC prep is on students an their parents, as well as picking a school. So yeah, most students are just pushed through the system to get them out of high school. *steps off soap box*
