91  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: OFFICIAL THANK YOU THREAD on: 2009 May 29, 06:07:39
I used to be married to an Army Airborne Ranger. He was career army, very gung-ho. He would be gone in the field for weeks at a time, leaving me home alone. For my safety, he and his buddy taught me all about guns and how to use them. I was never around guns before then, but he had so many weapons that he felt it better that I know how to use one. They took me shooting one day and it was actually kinda fun. I got to fire several different guns, from a civil war pistol to a Glok. They made sure to teach me how to fire the 12 gauge shotgun, since that was what I would use to protect myself in the event of a break-in or an intruder, etc. It was kept "combat ready" under the bed. My husband told me that, in all likelyhood, I would never have to fire it. The sound of the gun being cocked, or pumped would be enough to scare off anyone. It's a very distinct sound that everyone recognizes, especially criminals. And with the shotgun loaded with bird-shot, good aim isn't even necessary. Just point in the general direction of the scumbag and fire.
Luckily, I never had to shoot anyone. But it was during that time that a very good friend of mine was shot during an attempted robbery, half a block from my house. She survived, but lost her spleen. She has to take meds everyday for the rest of her life.
I guess I'm saying that everyone can agree that there are some people that shouldn't have guns, but if you outlaw guns entirely, then only the outlaws will have guns. It's a difficult balance.

ok, I'll shut-up now. Cheesy

It'll be alright, just go look at All About Style. And just keep breathing.

I have the AnoeskaB OMSP set. I love them and I use them all the time. A must-have.

It's just another of Dot's attempts to make us all as bat-shit crazy as she is. My advise is don't look directly at the lamps or they will singe your brain cells causing permanent brain damage. Eye bleach is apparently not strong enough to prevent it.

Thanks, my computer is now covered in vomit. Cry

I've been afraid of Sctiptorium as well, but those stairs make me want to try it now. Unfortunately, I have been staying at my dad's house for the last 2 weeks and I haven't been able to download anything cause my dad refuses to upgrade from dial-up. I'm here with my 2 year-old while my house is being worked on, and I don't know when it will be done. I miss my high-speed wi-fi. Cry

This thread and the "prettiest freesite creation" thread are both giving me anxiety, as I have to wait to download. I've been e-mailing myself links right and left so I won't forget later to go download all the pretty shiny creations.

I love the stairs. They look like they would fit in with traditional and modern styles both. Is there a matching fence to go with them?

Parrots are smart. Turkeys are very very stupid. I've lived around both. It is true that a turkey can drown in the rain. I've seen it happen. We had one that drowned in it's own water dish. The water was about a centimeter deep. I once found a mother turkey (wild) who had built her nest right next to the road. We tried to move her and realized she had chicks. She kept leading them back to the road.
I don't know of any African greys that ever drowned in their own water dish.

Oppossums are also very very stupid. btw

I hate spiders more than anything. I was bitten by a brown recluse when I was in high school, but I hated them even before then.
I understand the absolute terror you must have felt with a red back on your lap. But, Immortelle, aren't you in Australia, where damn near everything is deadly poisonous?
I admit, I've always had a fascination with Australia and I truly have a weakness for Australians (something about the accent). But the idea of actually being in the Australian outback terrifies me. I don't think I would last very long.

If you haven't tried this yet, I know it works.

Add a pinch of cinnamon to anything with tomato sauce, like Italian pastas and whatnot. It will prevent heartburn. (and it makes the tomatoe sauce tastier) My ex-husband, who was a cajun cook, taught me that.

Eat a piece of crystalized ginger for upset stomache or nausea. It works almost immediately.

Those closet walls; I'm a bit bothered by the way they have what looks like men's shirts hanging in the same closet with some little girls dresses. That just doesn't make any sense to me.

I also hate it when closets or armoires are filled with clothes that are all the same color. Who does that?  Huh

Yeah, this is SO TOTALLY Gabrielle Union.
Oh, wait.
You made a hot-hot-hot celebrity turn into a old bagged lady?

*snip*
I've spent my life drawing portraits that look like photographs. I've studied faces and anatomy for decades.
I don't know who Gabrielle Union is, but that sim looks nothing like the woman in the photo inset. The sim's eyes are too big. Her eyebrows are not arched enough. The nose is too small and way too thin. The mouth is also too small, and the lips are too thin. The jaw line is too pixie, and the chin is too large in proportion to the mouth. The real woman has a more heart-shaped face, not pixie. It's just all wrong. I could do better with my eyes closed.

A lot of young people don't know that the M in MTV used to stand for Music. Now, it stands for Money, cause there's not a whole lot on that channel that has anything to do with music anymore.

I was watching MTV as it came on the air for the first time and played the first music video, "Video Killed the Radio Star".

As a sims player, and as an artist, I am always inspired by Adele's creations. She motivates me to play more and create more. If there were an Academy award for sims creators, she would easily win it.

Don't ever leave us Adele, we love you! Grin

*shameless Adele fangirling*

The suits are tacky and cheap, but I can't stop looking at the models' hips (or lack of). The hips are non-existent and the entire pelvic area is entirely too small for their bodies. The legs are also way too thin and wispy.
The 1st one in polka-dots has a problem with her left hand on her right hip. It looks like a chunk of her hip is missing. Could be the mesh or bad photoshopping. Either way, the mesh looks deformed to me.

The 3rd one from the left in silver, looks like she is flipping a booger.
