31  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Well here we go, I present the first TS3 Pay items thanks to Peggy on: 2009 July 19, 20:57:22
Paden, it's not that the fire is gone, it's the resignation. Look at it this way. The fights been going on for years, and for years we've been spitting brimestone over ever little thing - yes, I'll say we, because even though I'm a bit fresh here, I've been getting pissed off at paysites since I discovered they exist. And what has that brought? What is the effect? Sure, a few paysites did go down, but which of them was the real ass sore like Peggy or TSR? The ones that lead the paysites army and shine examples to the other greedy twats are still fine and running, pretty much shitting on us and what we say. And you know why? Because we play fair and thus we can't do anything to really hurt them.

This makes me recall a quote from a good, old classic movie "Cobra" with Sylvester Stallone. I can't remember the words exactly, but at some point, one of "Marion's" superior officers said something like: "We're the police, we follow the rules." and Cobretti answered "Well then we've already lost, because the crooks don't follow any rules." I can't find anything more adequate to our present situation than that. Paysiters won't stop, because they don't respect the oposition, and also they're the type that don't respect anything, unless they're afraid of it.

Another quote from a film, this time the quite crappy "Chronicles of Riddick", however sounding quite adequate to me: "Sometimes you can't fight evil with good. Sometimes you have to fight evil with another kind of evil."

If anyone cares to hear my opinion on this, then I say it's time to stop playing politics Pirates, it's time to see this is bloody war.

A un-fried fry to make it worse. Also, when you actually turn it on, it probably looks like a un-fried rotten fry. Perhaps it was inspired after a diarrhea caused by such a delicacy  Tongue

Ah, perfect! Thanks a lot  Grin Now all I have to do is figure out how to best categorize all my stuff, so I don't mix it up in the end anyway - yeah, I'm actually capable of that even after organizing everything in the neatest way possible.

Another little beauty I found, painting replacements by Gelydh at GoS: Follow this path to grab Grin Not nessecarily a fresh find, but I don't think anyone posted them here before (or I'm just blind). Don't know about you guys, but I don't mind a bit that these replace the maybe-not-ugly but flat EA paintings in-game.

EDIT:
To not take up space, 2 more on the cool replacements for EA stuff in TS3, both at GoS by M.Calero:

Billboard replacements: http://www.digitalperversion.net/gardenofshadows/index.php?topic=12932.0

The problem with recolor files is gone, yes, but now we have a pattern problem, even if you download just one color option of it. Hopefully someone will come up with a method of foldering stuff for TS3 just like TS2, cause I don't know about you guys, but the contents of my package folder are already changing into a royal mess.  Grin

It's natural to feel that way. However, IMO it's hypocritical to condemn the practice for one artist and condone it for another.

Mind you, I'm of the opinion that meshers should always allow recolors. Meshes are useless without good recolors. Requiring a link back for the mesh itself is fine, and it's a classy gesture on the part of recolorists to ask permission and give credit. That's the way a free community should work. Respect and sharing.

I absolutely agree with you, El Diablo. On both cases. However, over the last year I've developed so much loathing for TSR, that I don't mind being a hypocrite when they're in question. Pretty much unless I'm absolutely proven that a TSR creator still sticks around them only because he or she is a complete and utter cretin - after all, it's not an idiot's fault he was born one -, I don't mind anything that'll spoil their blood a bit. I might not aprove the certain practice that caused it, but whatever it would be, in their case, it's not gonna make me cry either.

For all your Sims 3 females here are manucured toe & finger nails recolorable ingame as you like! For all the ages (Yay, finally something for teens & kids!) and you can also apply (tiny!) patterns on the nails  Now, that's awesome!

I can't believe I nearly missed these huh.

Lovely find, Dr. House. It actually amazes me how quickly people are cracking TS3. Must not as complicated as it seemed in the beginning.

Here I found a pair of shirts for the game at MTS by Shep. They look very nice in-game  Grin
And here a sporty v-neck dress by Maxwell755, also MTS.

Fixed it. Probably got deleted because it didn't suit PG-13 rules. Who knows, maybe a bit of pixel bush can actually deprave the already depraved internet...  Tongue

Lady Vader, your picture isn't working.

That's weird, I see the pic just fine.

As for the permission for retexturing, I would've normally stood behind following the TOU. However, this mesh and TOU came from TSR, free or not, in this case as far as I'm concerned, it don't matter. And if Thomas minds his objects being recolored without permission, well, he should have thought about that before he joined a site that on a regular basis violates TOU's, the EULA, basic manners, good taste and who knows what else... <an image of Evi's kid clothes comes to her mind, and she wonders if those somehow don't fall under some paragraph...> Ughhh, that was a bad one  Grin Either way, this only makes me wanna quote a good, old saying "What Jack does to god, god does to Jack."

New skin replacement at GoS by TummyZa.  Grin

GET HERE!

Pwns Peggy's crappy hairy skin, but since that one is free too for now, I didn't throw this into the Free vs. Pay thread.

So he isn't a dummy brain-wise 12've. Good. In this case, I'm taking back the venom in the first comment. An occassion like this, is one of the times I actually like that my judgement was wrong  Smiley
40  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: New paysite opens (JB Sims) on: 2009 July 05, 23:12:54
Mustluvcatz, look at the texture on the purple JB and the red All-About-Style dresses. They're identic, just different colors. The same with the yellow JB and red Foomika. Those are just crappy, hue/sat/colorize recolors of someone elses textures. Thus, he not only took meshes, but stole someone elses work and turned it into fug on the way.

This guy actually makes me wanna breakdown, he's not only dumb (a five year old covers his tracks better), but he can't use photoshop in the most basic stuff, anyone with any experience of graphic editing knows that just using hue/sat colorize adjustment, royally fucks up almost any texture.
41  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: New paysite opens (JB Sims) on: 2009 July 04, 21:52:51
Ah, so, the HE isn't only a money thief, he's also a content thief.

Hmm, lets see, he runs a paysite, charges rip off prices - putting aside for a moment the fact that charging for content itself is illegal - with a happy-smiley face, annouces he will charge "only this much..." with a comfortable "unless" statement, steals content from other creators, doesn't even have the dencency to redo it somehow except doing a crappy hue/sat recol of the original texture, he's stupid enough to actually admit he steals stuff and keeps a happy face about it, thinking everything's peachy. Could he actually be a graduate of the "The Shit Resource University"?

Since it seems we pretty much have cleared up what type this guy is, I have a little idea. Ferncapel said he admits to getting concent from TSR, so why not go snitch about it to ThomA$$? He's bound to get pissed that anyone by any chance took even a penny from him. It could be a funny show to watch, paysiters eating eachother alive...  Wink
42  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: New paysite opens (JB Sims) on: 2009 July 04, 19:33:01
By the use of language in all of the "info" on that site, I'm guessing it's one of those retarded, sparklies loving 12'ves (at least brain-wise). Guess, we have a new guest in the booty.

Anyone volunteering for protocol chit-chat into bringing this JB from the dark side? Who knows, maybe it is just a misguided child... - sorry for the sarcasm, but by the looks of that site, I have a feeling that this is the type, that even if he/she is now not aware of the illegality of her/hi... (oh screw it! lets just call it an it for now)  actions - which at least I doubt -, it won't care when it finds out. Also, the second this JB finds out it's creations are in the booty, I see a little whining show coming up, like: "you hatezz meee! you not nicezzz! i wantzzz more pocket moneyzzz!"

In case I'm proved wrong, I'll gladly take that back.

PS: I know, that since I haven't contributed to this fine pirate community much in words, alas I'm more of a lurker. I rarely say anything, unless I feel it's actually gonna contribute in some way... or just saw something that made me cringe, like a new paysite that looks more crappy than even TSR. I probably should play it more nicely and less venomously for now, but as many of you stated, this is isn't a sparklies'n'flowers playground.
43  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Free Content Pwns Paysite Crap on: 2009 June 26, 19:20:55
Actually, Madonna was Jirka's, and true, the so called "Queen" does look haggered nowadays, but still, it's effortless TSR photoskinned crap. Bruno's version although glamoured up, has a modeled face. I bet if you'd take off that photo-mask of Jirka's, there would be absolutely no resemblance.
44  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Free Content Pwns Paysite Crap on: 2009 June 25, 21:03:30
Since we're on the subject of making/throwing-their-photos-into-a-coffe-grinder-and-passing-the-effect-as-a-sim-celeb again...

Keira Knightley by Chaz at TSR:

And for comparison Bruno's classic free version from MTS:

Madonna by Jirka at TSR - say what you want about Madonna, but seriously, even she doesn't deserve this:

For comparison another free classic by Bruno at MTS:

HystericalParoxysm did a mod removing the cartoony effects when sims fight for S3: http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=346507 Bloody awesome if you're a storyteller, moviemaker, or just plain hate the "Hanna-Barbera" effect EA seems to so insist on in all of The Sims generations. Makes me almost wanna go slap-happy in the game Wink
