If he had the skill and power to do anything other than make everyone point and laugh, then he would have already done it.

How completely boring.

The only amusement here is that a thief is all narked off because we're making it a lot less profitable for her / him to be a thief. For some reason, I fail to feel any regret.

The irony is that EA itself is probably the largest distributor of payfiles in the Sims 2 community, thanks to the Exchange.

EA tried to do a nice thing, back in the days of Sims 1, by looking the other way if custom content creators recouped a nominal amount to cover bandwidth fees. Like the old story about the camel who asks if he can keep his nose inside the tent at night to keep it warm and then steadily takes a mile when given an inch (my ears are cold...my neck is cold...my front half is cold...surely you wouldn't be so selfish to deny my front legs the chance to stay warm?), the camel is eventually inside the tent, the camel driver is outside in the cold, and then the camel pretends that this is all okay and the way it should be and that it has a right to usurp the tent and fights like hell to retain ownership of the tent that doesn't belong to it.

Now we have a plague of paysite camels who all think they are entitled to make money off of stolen goods. Dressing up something you stole with different kinds of wrapping paper and bows does not make it any less stolen.

The community has made tools FOR FREE to encourage content SHARING, but greedy paysite wankers use these FREE tools and FREE meshes to make money off of content owned by EA. The gall and brazen effrontery of it all.

EA, as noted, is probably the biggest distributor of Sims 2 paysite content on the planet. Smaller sites like PMDB, where all the available content HAS BEEN PAID FOR ALREADY, are not stealing. They share what they have bought and own.

Then you have clueless wankers coming in thinking they are justified in trying to protect some pissed-off thief from the inevitable consequences of his/her dishonesty and greed. Ooh, big bad leet haxxor. Soooo scary.

The whole thing is just laughable. Did a whole bunch of paysite people get hit in the head and have their moral compasses messed up? I mean, really.

I particularly love it when paysite people come here and threaten and whine and then go and download several Gs of booty for themselves. That's my favourite bit.

So you got away with being a thief for a while. Wow, what fun, selling stuff you prettied up. Too bad it was never yours to sell in the first place, super genius. Now the community as a whole is wising up and realizing what a stinking cancer you are and are insisting on fighting back and not giving you or any other greedy pay content assholes any more money. Suck it up and get a real job, you morons. Your scam is circling the drain. Boo fucking hoo, cry me a river.

As an occasional digital and traditional illustrator / artist, I can vouch that it is very easy to paint over photo references. VERY.

This is not discouraged when you are new and learning the software and techniques.

It is GREATLY discouraged when you begin to sell your work.

She's revoked her newbie status, and that's been old news for many years now.

DO I think she lacks talent? Far from it.

DO I think she uses photo references? Yes.

I think the issue isn't with using references, but using a piece with a photo reference as a base as a tutorial demonstrating how she supposedly draws everything from scratch.

Sloppy, sloppy.

Also, if you are worried about others ganking your work, keep them in your portfolio, don't put the whole, un-altered and un-watermarked images online to be downloaded and messed about with. Sucks, but it is a fact of life. Holding back part of the original image helps prove provenance.

All fandoms and hobby sites of any kind are silly and worthy of mocking.

Once you forget that and become humourless and offensensitive (tm Bloom County), you have only yourself to blame for any trauma and unhappiness.

Pretending to be a Sim is harmless but kooky, just like people who pretend their pets are capable of using the Internet and conversing.

But the kookiness is going to make people ROTFL, so get a thicker skin and try to see the silliness of the concept.

You're upset because people think that pretending to be a pixel paper doll is 100% pure LOLlity? You have lost perspective and need to take a minibreak from the Intarwebz. It has ceased to be fun for you if you care so much about other people's opinions about your Happy Fun Hobby Activities.

All hobby sites and fandoms are funny. But even more funny are people who take them SOOOOOO seriously.

The very first thing I did after acquiring the game and all the available EPs was surf for default replacements. I can't recall if I even attempted to load up the game first!

Maxis defaults are fugly and their eyes look spray-painted on and their skins are Barbie-like.

During Sims 1, I changed every single Sim in the game to something less horrific.

Except Bob. I liked Bob the way he was.

I know what he looks like, darlings, I am a L&O junkie. I just meant that I needed good, clear, clean face shots and profile shots when ready to BodyShop him. Smiley

It's OK, I'll get to him when I can.

I wouldn't know about the site per se, because the cries of horror were enough to warn me away. Smiley But the outfits that are posted? One every once in a while is, barely, tolerable.

I know a heck of a lot about Photoshop and Painter (not to be confused with Paint) and Illustrator and all that, but have been too damn lazy to find a tut on how to make new Sims 2 stuff using these tools.

I suck. Smiley

I made some darn good stuff (for ME and me alone) during Sims 1.

It does sound minimized: "Oh, we all have porn on our hard drives - so what?"

Geez. I don't have any. Unless scans of fine art with nekkid Cupids and fat nekkid ladies in velvet blankets and nekkid Sim skins are now considered porny.

I feel left out.

they look very nice Lorelei, thanks for the link!

Added some non-celeb Sims to the uploader, plus pix.

BTW, should we start a thread for forum patron creativity, or do you think that would turn into a Pimp My Site thread? (As you can see, I have no interest in making a site, you just get a bunch of files made downloadable by anbyone who happens to stumble across the link here or at MATY.

I was a wee bit surprised to see how popular Clinton & Stacy have been!

As well as the screenshots of my computer, posted up to help me with IM woes. That tickled me. For future reference, you can preview without downloading stuff, and I went in and made more logical filenames as well.)

Your entirely reasonable and polite response has been noted, and is appreciated.

Please be aware, however, that asking anyone in the Sims 2 community to pay for anything is likely to continue to go over very poorly. Please reconsider this decision.

Familiarizing yourself with the EULA is a good first step.

Olivia, Lennie, Diane and Mike only at the moment. Haven't found good Elliott, Fin, or Jack hair yet.

There's already a Munch out there in Simland. Maybe MTS2. Eventually I'll be making one, so don't have it.
