16  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / WillStefan on: 2007 February 07, 16:25:00
I might be wrong, but I think that Will Stefan already had a partly-pay site once upon a time.
I never liked his stuff.. partly because of the poor quality and, well, partly because of his attitude  :?
It wouldn't surprise me at all to see him as a FA and/or opening his own pay site.

Yes, very true.

Ew, this is sad. I wonder how many other free creators are going to sell themselves to TSR :?

Everyone noticed how every one of the dominant sim makers (jirka... I think he made one, willstefan, chaz) made Paris?
Everyone made a Paris sim at least once in their lives

Btw, what is exactly a Select Artist?
18  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Pay MESH recolors on free sites on: 2007 February 05, 16:43:51
Mh, this is a quite delicate subject.

I for one don't like free sites offering recolors of pay meshes - a free site is supposed to have only free downloads accessible by anyone, while pay meshes recolors are usable only by those who have the original pay mesh.

But, it's also true that lots of pay meshes comes with fugly textures, and recolors by other creators are very appreciated.
Last but not least, sites like this(PSMBD) helps quite a lot. If there's a way for everyone to get the original mesh, then it's great to have recolors as well..

Uh, doesn't "high quality" and TSR cancel each other out?

Btw, I've been told that Jirka (Glance) is now a FA for TSR. Is that true? ._.''
20  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / I Hate N00bs. on: 2007 February 05, 16:19:02
Actually, if there's something I hate, is people making lists and posts about the things they hate. I mean, seriously, what's the point?

Uuuh wait...are we supposed to PAY for those ugly sims?

Uh. I just downloaded a zip containing some or all of Carla Niven's stuff. I got it from a friend - she didn't pay for that stuff of course, she got it elsewhere, from SFV I suppose. Btw, this means that there's someone out there who actually paid to get Carla Niven's stuff.
And if someone is willing to pay for those things.. well, everything is possible.
22  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Name your dramawhores and why. on: 2007 January 28, 16:07:30
I gotta agree on Exnem, LyricLee, Sera, HChangeri, Rose..
I don't know about Elau, tho. I "met" her years ago on an italian TS1 board and since then she has always seemed pretty friendly and low-key to me. I guess I'm partial.

I would add to the list Jirka from Glance. I love his stuff, but he makes such a big drama everytime someone use his stuff for packaged sims. :?
23  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / A NEW PAYSITE!!!! on: 2007 January 28, 15:58:04
I can't say their stuff is fugly, I actually like some of the hairs (female hairs n.4 seems cute), but not something I would pay for, anyway.

Is it just me or the site itself looks alot like another old asian site, I think its name was something like Vamp Sims, or Vampire Sims ..?

Our unemployment rate has never been lower, and I can guarantee you that it's easier to find work with a green card in the US than it is to get work with a permit here.
Mh, I'm now considering to apply for the Green Card Lottery
Btw, out of curiosity, does American/Canadian McDonalds hire ignorant employees? XD
When I tried to apply for a job at a local McDonald, I was officially rejected 'cos I don't have an highschool diploma. I mean, seriously. Do you really need a diploma to serve french fries? LoL   (eh.. personal outburst.)

Ew, please, no. The image of OpenHouseJack with no underwear is frightening.

You're kidding, right?  :?

No way. True Religion's jeans are worth it, believe me.

Yeah, I was just kidding. I admit I have a weird sense of humor.

They actually don't have that anymore.  You can request as much as you like.  And the rules aren't that confusing, they're there for privacy's sake.
I believe they were made to protect users privacy, especially for the sharers. I don't think they would change their rules just because is amusing XD.
But still, at one point they were really confusing, especially if english isn't your first language. I don't know about the new rules, I didn't know they were changed.
Don't get me wrong, I still think that SFV is a great idea for a site, as I said before - but I tend(and I like) to be painly honest when it comes to critiques

29  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / How much does bandwith cost and how much could they be using on: 2006 November 11, 14:35:00
Ok, I'll give my two cents.

I went for a very cheap domain+hosting plan for my site(s).
It's an italian hosting service. My plan includes:
- Domain registration
- Hosting with unlimited space (wich is the mainly reason I like it )
- (I went for a Windows server instead of a Linux, but you can chose between Linux, Windows or Linus+Windows server)
- 5 emails with my domain name
- I also bought an additional MYSQL database.

I'm not sure about the bandwith. I'm not technically aware.
As for the cons.
I have to say the server isn't very stable. It happens sometime that my site is unavaiable for several hours and I can do nothing about it.
I also believe the bandwith isn't very high, since the since occasionally go down whenever I have more then 700 visitors in a day (but this doesn't happen frequently, lol), so I wouldn't recommend this to those who have lots of visitors.

Btw, this all costs to me about 30€ a year, wich I think it's pretty cheap, or at least something I can afford to pay with my casual jobs
30  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: ok i'm confused on: 2006 November 11, 14:16:58
First thing I'm gonna say that I simply love SFV. That's the site that got me into file sharing.

Second thing, I have to admit that *it is* quite confusing and complicated, wich is one of the mainly reason I never joined there.
When a friend of mine found it, I had to translate her all the rules in order to get the pay files I wanted and I gotta say they were very confusing (I guess part of the problem is my awful english, lol).

At one point the rules even changed into something even more complicated, if I remember right every wishlist couldn't have more then 5 or 15 request and it was forbidden to ask stuff to others, you just had to patiently wait till someone sent you the files.
Then finally, after some time my friend was accepted into a special group and she now have access to a sort of pay-files database, wich seems much simpler since she's not bothering me anymore

Beside that, as I said above I love that site and the person who created it, whoever he/she is. Before run into PSMBD, that was my only way to get and share pay files, so, thank you. I mean it.
