Grin that's really good.. It's really nice to see someone still taking care of the Sims 1 players, they're a bit of a neglected bunch these days.. And considering I'm not getting Sims 3, it'll happen to me too.

I am personally happy to host the Sims 1 stuff if Boo's not around anymore. It bugs me seeing so much of it dissapear to bloody TSR. But we can maybe see if we can get a hold of Boo and see if she'll help..

what concerns me is the fact they're closing.. Can someone maybe contact the Saving of the Sims people and get them to retain their TS1 stuff?

edit: dammit, I just checked and they're closed too.. I need to contact Boo and find out what's going on with that.

*has hysterics* SimOutlaw is such a legend in his own lunchbox. Three seconds after not being aware of Securom issues a few weeks back, he was suddenly a computer expert.. As one of the coowners of SAS, I found this thread deeply funny.. It was such an obvious attempt at "throw mud" that it had no chance of upsetting me at all.

Requip, Anna's been posting the Securom stories for me for a few weeks, so I don't know if we have yours yet.. We've got a new all-games version of the site coming in the next week and if it's not on there by now, I'd love to have it on there. (the new version of the site should be up by not this weekend but the next at this stage)

And Nouk, I'm with you.. good riddance to bad rubbish.. it's not like he's ever got anything of value to add to the conversation.

*cracks up* Snarky, if I wasn't a married old lady and you weren't gay, I'd ask you to marry me at this point.. god that was funny.. Cheesy

The net is alive, with the sound of bullshit...

*chuckling* that's a Paden classic.. What it translates to in English is "people have stopped being taken in by our crap, so now we're trying to milk more money out of them by selling them individuals like those credits to society, paysites"..

*roflmao* kenmtl, I loved that!! beautiful work!!
144  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Your Ugliest Paysite Creation Find: Round Two. on: 2008 July 14, 05:36:11
I don't think of this as bad so much as very old school.. if we'd seen this a few years ago, we'd have thought this was cool. This is the big reason why I'm not just putting my old free content back up as-is.. because times have changed since I made it and I need to be aware of that..

With this creator, it looks like they've been living in the TSR bubble and not spending enough time on MTS so they keep their skills decent.

Plus unless there's a reason, photoshopping to hell is badbadbad..

;-) all they need is a neon-puke green coat to finish off the effect.. Tongue
146  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: New paysite on: 2008 July 10, 05:54:53

Ok, what is WITH the bountiful boobies in the header area? Undecided
148  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: New paysite on: 2008 July 06, 03:49:27
umh, I'm getting "page cannot be displayed" Huh
149  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Pescado, your help is needed! on: 2008 July 02, 21:21:35
I guess it seemed like you lost a couple of domains in the process there, plus I know there's been some unrest among the natives, so it seemed like a situation ripe for a DoS attack to me.

Regarding SMBD - I find it funny that securom.mustbedestroyed bothers people when paysites.mustbedestroyed doesn't.

And...yeah, Pescado's tops on security, both interwebs and otherwise. I can't imagine anyone breaking down his doors.

Hey Luv.. well, no because SAS, and Cala's site is a subdomain that hangs off Sublime.. But you are 100 percent correct, we need to be careful and at the very least make sure we're backing the site up regularly.. I'm backing the whole site up once a night and getting it on my pc. We need to start with some reasonable caution, not drop the ball and we'll sort the rest out from there.

Actually the people who have an issue with it are usually people who wouldn't visit here.. they say it has "associations" and it needs to be bipartisan..(this obviously doesn't include me) But that's not what's deciding the vote at the moment. At some point the guys who're working on this issue regularly realised that DRM's are a bigger issue than just Securom, and the thought that is giving us nightmares is having EA remove Securom from everyone's games just to go for something worse. Basically they want a name that doesn't have the word "securom" in it. The current winner of the vote has drm in it instead..

I've just read most of the way through SMLisa's post on the Sims 2 site and I LOVE the fact that the posters on there are going "are you kidding me, I would get a better deal from a paysite".. What EA fails to understand is firstly that there's a limit to how much money they can milk out of people, and they're not going to get money out of people if there are amatuers who can do it better or in some cases for free..

Interesting to see whether the concept flies or not though.. The way the majority of the active community feels about EA right now, I'm not sure it will. I'm not registering, I can't be arsed and I refuse to support the concept.
