My karma ran over their dogma.
1278  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / And here she goes again... on: 2006 November 13, 03:07:00
I'm still waiting for EA to steal my work. What the hell is taking them so long? If they had stolen it, the patch would be out by now!
1279  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / How much does bandwith cost and how much could they be using on: 2006 November 12, 13:49:52
Competitive pricing, but they probably have a draconian TOS and are too susceptible to whining.

I didn't understand how to use that. Make one for BlueSoup.

You really should tell BlueSoup where to get an avatar like yours. She needs one. I see her face staring back at me everytime I see your avatar. It's uncanny.

That entire "charging for my work" thing is bogus. If I wanted to charge people for my work, I'd sidestep the entire EA EULA by making people pay for my actually doing the work. You could then pay as much or as little as you wanted, but until the requisite funds had been accumulated, I simply wouldn't do the work at all. Then once the item was finished, it would be released freely. You would truly have paid for the work, and not the item.

The EA downloader is spyware. Never, ever, buy EA downloader versions.

You know, they said that about hacks, too. And there's a legitimate reason NOT to package hacks. But did they ever stop it? Nope. They just put a "non-Maxis" warning label on it. Odds are they will do nothing about meshes, either, and this is just EA-speak for "lalalala, we're not listening!".
1285  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / How do we donate files? on: 2006 November 09, 10:33:29

Just out of idle curiosity, I notice that BlueSoup doesn't want to upload The Sims Resource stuff (which is understandable), but I was wondering if their Featured Artist's creations (such as Dr. Pixel) are completely out of bounds for being uploaded.

Nothing is out of bounds if it's from a filthy paysite! BlueSoup merely has a fat head, and also, TSR is a huge site. Once we have more disk space, we can afford to storage that.

I don't see how speculating about whether or not two people sharing a handle are the same person is any sort of confidentiality issue.

Wow! I need to look into that too... I'm being ripped off!

I already told you where to get it! Why are you still being ripped off? Silly Nouk. What kind of Dutchie are you?
1288  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / ok i'm confused on: 2006 November 07, 22:37:24
Yeah, I found it to be a pain in the neck also, but some people like it because it allows them to get specific files faster. Me, I find it too "social", too cliquey, too inefficient. Hence the "shut up and eat your files" method here.

Well, it seems EA has ]quietly declared this position on the issue some more. Considering that the EA package is now snarfing meshes and nicking them for the Exchange, what does this tell you? DOWN WITH PAYSITES!

And perfection is quite subjective.

There's no perfection, only awesomeness. Try to be more awesome, and someday you could be almost half as awesome as me!
