That house is beautiful, Paperbeth. While its a little bit too big for my playing taste [size4=pt]and my computer specs[/size], its classic and has clean lines.  Smiley

It's too big for my computer also. I always tell myself "I'm going to build small this time, just keep it simple." But I get carried away, when I am always finding awesome shiny things in my catalog that I either forgot about, or didn't know I had. Then I just have to add it in somehow, one thing after another. Before you know it, I've created a monstrosity. That house above is actually one of my smaller ones. I have a sickness. My computer hates me for it too. Shocked

Paperbeth the house is gorgeous- Were you looking for climbing vines something like this http://www.aussietopenders-sims2.com/Gardening.htm. Aussie Topenders has some great garden stuff and it is free, free, free- Great Giant Rosebush too .

Dstar, those are perfect, thank you. Bookmarked it for downloading later. Got my game running at the moment. I can hardly wait. *does the happy dance*

Many humble thank you's for all the kind comments. Grin

It's also that nasty roadblock where creativity meets commerce. Inspiration and quota don't always agree. It's a particular type of artist that can make it work. Most can't. Just ask George R R Martin.

As an artist myself, I can attest to that. I know I am more inspired and more productive when the only incentive is to impress myself. Every time I try to do commissioned work, it lacks true inspiration. All I can think about is "will the client feel cheated by this?" This would cause me to doubt my own creative abilities, then it turns into a vicious cycle of doubt and lack of inspiration.

True artists don't do it for the money. Now if you happen to be one of those rare artists that doesn't do it for the money, and patrons throw money at you anyway, then you are truly blessed.  Cheesy

eta: Dot is NOT an artist by any definition. Not only does she do it for the money (she admits she doesn't play the game), but she's also a delusional, talentless hack.

I'm not a creator. I really just love playing. I've always had an obsession with architecture, so I especially love building houses.
I've never uploaded anything, anywhere. Mostly because I'm not sure how, but also because I tend to use almost nothing but custom content. My downloads folder is at a little over 10 gb at the moment, and I have virtually no method of organization since I never planned to upload anything (and back when I started, I didn't know any better). I don't know where to start to give credit to all the amazing creator's that make it all possible.
Despite this, I have been dying to show someone what I do, someone who can actually appreciate what goes into building and decoratiing. Feel free to tell me if you hate it. I welcome your criticism.
I hope it's ok to have this many pics in one post. I know it's a lot, but I spent all night taking them. It was so hard to just show 8 when I took 22 pics altogether.
This house is my most recent. It's loosely based on the houses I saw in some of the more affluent neighborhoods in and around Seattle, WA. In RL, the garage would be contained within a finished basement, and the driveway would have a steep slope down to the garage door. I wanted to do that with this house, but I'm still trying to master the use of the 'constrainfloorelevation' boolprop.

I'm still looking for some really good climbing ivy or kudzu type plants for the back wall, foundation level.

parlor

dining room/kitchen, and the Orwells having some tasty grilled cheese

upstairs tv/media room, den, whatever you want to call it

1st floor

2nd floor

I could make another version of this house, using only maxis stuff (it wouldn't be as good), but I still don't know how to .package it.
Could someone point me to a good tutorial, if there is one? Or is it simpler than I think?

I think the fact that we are even disscussing the ethical merits of this at all, shows that we will not stoop to their level. I mean, can anyone here even imagine that there has ever been a disscusion of ethics like this over at T$R? They're all too busy agreeing with each other.

I think we must pick our battles. We need to stay on message. We are here to educate and inform. I believe it is the most effective method for giving T$R moar butthurt. To go after everything and anything just on the principle that we don't like them only makes us look like 12's.

Rissa, I like your textures way more than Peggy's. Yours look more natural to me. Somehow you make the mesh look fuller and softer. And I like the tiny little imperfections. They make the hair look more human. Peggy's look like they've been coated with lacquer, and they are always off-colored too. I always look to see if you've done a recolor first, before I download one of hers.

I still don't know who he/she is supposed to be, but I will call her Miss Creant.
127  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: NEW TSR LEGAL THREAT! on: 2009 April 09, 02:57:27
Well wasn't mid February when mts2 had their server crash?  Would explain it.
I was thinking the same thing. Sarafina ninja'd me. Wink
128  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: NEW TSR LEGAL THREAT! on: 2009 April 08, 20:48:47
Thomass and friends have been extremely busy lately, trying to put out fires (that they started) right and left. Everyday, we hear of some new reprehensible thing they have done to try to confuse and manipulate. This seems desperate to me. Perhaps they are starting to feel the walls closing in, and the panic and anxiety attacks that result are driving them to these desperate measures.
Of course, I could be wrong, but I will take it as a good sign that T$R is in the midst of a nervous breakdown.

Either they are just trying to distract us again or Thomas really does believe that his " I'm telling your mom" letter will have some effect. Ha ha you fail. Again.

On a more positive note. What a great drag name, Miss Creant.

*runs off to make Miss Creant sim*

Copyright infringement report - Urgent

Dear Sir or Madam:

We represent The Sims Resource (www.thesimsresource.com). A wholly owned
division of IBIBI HB, located in Sweden.

A brief description of our business model can be found here:
http://www.thesimsresource.com/helpcenter/about

It has come to our attention that a few domains using your host services
have waged a war against our company. Your customer, hosting the domain
"mustbedetroyed.org" has as its sole objective the destruction of our
site: http://paysites.mustbedestroyed.org/mission.html . Upon further
research it is apparent that this activity is in direct violation of
your TOS, specifically where copyright infringements are concerned.

Your customer has self-appointed himself to defend the position of
Electronic Arts, Inc., (EA) and its End User License Agreement (EULA)
for the Sims Label. Your customer maintains that our company and others
with similar business models violate the EULA listed here:
http://paysites.mustbedestroyed.org/. Yet it has been confirmed by EA
that the EULA listed is limited to the game software, and there exists a
separate EULA that applies to our business model:
http://bbs.thesims2.ea.com/community/bbs/messages.php?threadID=17989d983b8aa06886b13273b94f2387&directoryID=2&startRow=1&openItemID=item.2,item.43,item.61,item.104,item.41,item.127,item.23

Despite this clarification, your customer continues his defamation. In
short, EA states that our business model is NOT in violation of their
EULA. Your customer has a selective interpretation of the situation, and
on that basis alone, has mounted an army of disillusioned miscreants
against us.

We have also contacted your customer's previous hosting companies. He
boasts about "beyond the law" and hiding behind Asian hosts to thwart
our attempts. An example of our ongoing battle is listed here:
http://paysites.mustbedestroyed.org/legal/tsr.txt . Your customer has a
startling lack of regard for authority and continues to bounce from
hosts and providers. He is still using a combination of different
companies to hide his illegal activities:
http://www.robtex.com/dns/mustbedestroyed.org.html .

As listed on this page http://abuse.dreamhost.com/copyright/ , your
customer violates this policy by redistributing content without
authorization: http://paysites.mustbedestroyed.org/booty/ . Please note
that the attack is not limited to our company. In addition to this
violation he further condones software piracy and his forums propagate
discussions about redistributing content on other external sites as well.

We trust now that your customer's activities have been brought to your
attention you will find him in violation of your rules. Please contact
us if we can be of further assistance in clarifying any of the nuances
regarding the ownership of the contact your customer is redistributing.

Sincerely,
Thomas Isaksson
The Sims Reource

OK. Who is that supposed to be? I feel sorry for her.
133  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: TSR: In Ur Accounts, Deletin Ur Stuffs! on: 2009 April 08, 07:35:58
The whole thing feels like schoolyard bullshit to me. It's like being bullied (by T$R) on the playground and then going to the principal (Eaxis) about it, only to find out that the bully is the principal's nephew. So where do you turn then?
The playground monitor (BBB) has no real authority, they can only tell the principal about it. We already know he won't do anything.
Other parents (people outside of the sims community) won't do anything either, because if it wasn't their kid being bullied, then they don't see the problem.

It makes me so angry that it seems we can do nothing but complain to deaf ears. Angry

More affeminate male hair. Do not want!
I seriously thought it was a girl until the 2nd or 3rd pic where you can see his chest.

The pig-tails do nothing for me either. I've seen better for free.
135  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Free Content Pwns Paysite Crap on: 2009 April 07, 01:53:23
I DLed Homecrafter, thinking I could just change them myself, but I can't get the damn thing to even start up. So much for that idea.

Did you dl homecrafter from the EA site? That one never works for me! I'll look for the link where I dl it from at SapphireSims. You have to register but of course it is free.
This one always works for me every time I do a re-install...as far as I know it is the one decent thing that noeidog ever did Tongue and puppetfish is sweet enough to share it.

ETA: here is the link http://www.sapphiresims2.com/showthread.php?t=35933

Many thanks. I'm downloading it now, so we'll see what happens.
