Title: just random thoughts
Post by: Blue on 2006 November 17, 13:05:22
Hi!

I was hesitating if I should post this or not. After days of sitting on it I decided, why not? First I would like to state that I'm not here to hurt anybody. People are different. Our views, morals,  language and even the way we think differ. That's what makes the world so exciting, no? I don't agree with you on lots of things but that's not a first and I never let it blind me before.

I've found out about this site at another forum where they were discussing Retailsims. I'm not a forum person and usually never comment but I got curious why everybody edited their posts like mad. One minute I read something and after refreshing the page it disappeared. Now THAT got my attention so I PM-ed one of the opposition and asked what the hell is going on. I liked her posts, they were well written and not at all aggressive. Anyway she directed me here. Of course I was flabbergasted. I never in my wildest dreams thought there was a site such as this.
I never wanted to post but then I saw something which made me mad. Oh well, its done and over with.
I looked around and saw that you have more than 500 members but only a handful post regularly. The majority didn't even have the guts to say thank you. I wonder why they registered? I kinda understand them though. Maybe they are afraid of getting banned from other sites but maybe because you don't have different kind of topics. Yeah I know you are pirates who hate paysites and are assholes who do it just because you can, etc. Your words not mine. I've  read your logo. And its dreadfully conceited.  But humorous :)
I happen to know two people from another forum who got chastised just for mentioning this site. Another member got banned because somebody saw her here. Of course from the same site. Hm...I wonder what he was doing here and how he found out? There must be a breach in your security.
People are afraid. Not everybody has guts like Solander who doesn't give a damn  what other siteowners say about him. He built a well known name in the simsworld and because of that he can be independent and do as he likes. Not everybody is that lucky.

The forum should only be open to members. Right now anybody can see it and explore it. That's not good. If you want to protect your members or want your members to feel safe you should change it. Of course there's not much you can do against hackers unless you're a better one.

Another thing. Strength is in numbers and if you don't want to be ephemeral  you have to expand and to expand you need members and I don't mean members who come raid your booty and never look back but members who actively participate in the forum. And you wont get that if you give away your booty like you do now. They should get the sets after registering. That's a minimum. And if you want to keep them you should have a variety of topics. Politics, general discussions, you name it. The "Lets destroy this and that" and Openhousejack's sexual adventures wont meet everyones taste.  Not everybody who comes here is a kid or undereducated.* Please read the note below.
And (now you'll probably want to kill me) you should put up a paypal button. In today's world people donate to the most absurd of things. Why not ride that? You don't have to put it in your pockets. You can use it for charity, bandwidth or for helping young talented meshers etc.
And I don't think its a good idea letting in kids. Some of the threads are not meant for children. You don't need indignant frothing at the mouth parents screaming SUE, do you? It happened with FF.net and they had to change their policy. I don't know whats the case in Malaysia but the US is well know for its pressurizing abilities. And when they want they can reach far.

I know this is a new site and well...yeah it verges on illegal. But I see potential in it. I cant say I like what or - more precisely - how  you do what you do but I'm not here to judge. I always try to view both sides of the coin.
And although I'm a member here I'll keep donating to my favorite sites not because I'm so well off but because I like their community some of the really deserve it.

And last but not least I have a question. After you destroyed the paysites what then? There wont be any need for this site and you'll just die with them. So be careful how you go about this.

Sorry if I made some spelling or grammatical mistakes.

1. if you're educated you don't need to get your hackles up. Its not about you.
2. if you're educated and want to prove it please don't. I believe you in advance.
3. if you're not educated but want to prove it otherwise by huffing and puffing in my face, please spare me. I wouldn't believe you anyway.

If I forgot a category please excuse me. Read the thread if you like you may find the answer there but don't put up the same question again and again in a different phrasing.

Are you at all familiar with Pescado? He set this up.
You read the front page so you know how he feels.

Yes evil spies and traitors are everywhere (look at the top of the page). Those who go by their usual names here accept the consequences. Those more cowardly (myself included) choose to hide behind their favourite pirate. (Well not actually my favourite, but he was taken.)

I will leave the proper rebuttal to those more practised than I.

After we snuff them out, we're going to make merry with a hog roast and some rum whilst mourning our fading glory. The problem with that point is that you seem to be under the impression that anyone here is here for the infamy or some such nonsense. I doubt any of us is going to be sitting around feeling sad that we don't have this particular cause to rally behind anymore. Don't misunderstand, silly rabbit, the point of the whole shebang is that this site shouldn't have to be needed. We really shouldn't have to be here telling everyone that it's something sort of REALLY illegal for these paysite owners to be making a profit and overpricing their oftentimes lackluster custom content. If there no longer is a need for this site, then so what? Mission accomplished.

Duh.

I guess you're addressing Pescado not the forum posters, but I'm bored so I'm going to reply anyway.

I don't think they really need members, or members who post, if Pescado wants to put up these files at his own expense then the amount of people registered in the forums doesn't really matter. If people had to register to get the files then the problem you think people have, of being worried that other sites will know they've been here and ban them, would be worse.

Quote from: "Blue"

And if you want to keep them you should have a variety of topics. Politics, general discussions, you name it. The "Lets destroy this and that" and Openhousejack's sexual adventures wont meet everyones taste. Not everybody who comes here is a kid or undereducated.

Why should he be bothered about keeping them or worried about meeting everybody's taste? And I object to the assumption that everyone who is amused or interested by the topics here is a child or undereducated; being an intelligent adult doesn't preclude you from enjoying gossip and silly things.

Quote from: "Blue"

After you destroyed the paysites what then? There wont be any need for this site and you'll just die with them. So be careful how you go about this.

So what if it does? I'm enjoying reading and posting here, but if it did become superfluous because there were no more paysites, I wouldn't really care much. I think you're assuming that Pescado wants this to be a huge thriving site, with lots of members all posting like crazy, that lasts a long time. I can't imagine why you would think that, but I doubt that is the case.

just what does it mean to be "undereducated"?  are you talking about how many years of school one has and whether it was focused on art or physics? the quality of intellect is not bound by such restraints.

I took it to be a badly thought out insult. Since the quality of the spelling and grammar of most of the posters is fairly high and most of them are clearly  capable of having a rational discussion I can't see why anyone would assume that. Of course it could just be a mistake, if Blue isn't a native English speaker then she might have meant something else.

No, I'm not addressing Pescado. I'm fishing for viewpoints from anybody who cares to reply.

I never stated that the people here were undereducated.
Well, yeah gossip can be fun. For as long as you're not the one they are gossiping about. Or am I wrong?

And I happen to know there is a very young kid here.

If I understand correctly you don't give a damn if people come in to say hi, rant about the unfairness of life, share their opinion or whatnot or just grab the booty and get the hell out. I'm sorry. In this case I must have misunderstood something when I was invited. Than whats the point of registering?

Then how did you mean it? I imagine most of the people posting have or will eventually have at least a high school education, so I imagine most of them would be insulted if called 'undereducated'.

Quote from: "Blue"

I never stated that the people here were undereducated.
Well, yeah gossip can be fun. For as long as you're not the one they are gossiping about. Or am I wrong?

But your phrasing did imply that only kids and the undereducated would enjoy the topics currently on here. If you didn't mean that then I guess I'll accept that it was probably because you aren't a native English speaker, not an intentional insult.
And I don't give a damn if people gossip about me, thanks to someone I thought was a friend, my sex life was a hot gossip topic through most of high school, I learned quickly that it's only harmful if you actually have something to be ashamed of and was in fact highly amused at the ridiculous things I heard about myself.

Most people here are here to discuss paysites, paysite owners and defenders of paysites. It's pretty much the focus of conversations.

Well that and anarchy.

The forum wasn't here at first.   It was only about the booty.  I have no idea why Pescado added it, but add it he did.

This is why we would prefer people link others directly to the front page and they only have to come in the forum if they want to.  Otherwise, they can just grab the booty and go.

The forum is not the point of the site.

And make no mistake, Blue is not BlueSoup. ;)

I don't post in this forum much because I hate the way it is organised, and I can never remember what page I was up to.

I don't think people here are afraid, nor is anyone here worried about popularity or longevity. There are other places for discussion, or ripping idiots a new one.

I think this "Blue" should revise its username to something less confusing.

I think I have an idea who Blue is, I may have been the person (under a psudonym) who directed him/her here. If so, welcome and no worries, I won't be tattling any time soon ^_^

Not everyone who posts here shares exactly the same interests and concerns. There are some here who are really only here for the booty and witty banter. There are others who support the cause but refuse on moral grounds to touch the booty. There are those that don't like the cause but can't look away from the train wreck. And of course, not everyone is interested in the gossip, though others find it fascinating. Basically, this place sprang up as a kind of pirate-y catch all, a place where people gather to poke fun at eachother and paysites.

I feel like I've just been called undereducated. You know, it rarely helps me see someone's point of view when they 'tactfully' try to imply that I'm thick.

But anyway. Yes, this Blue who is not BlueSoup doesn't appear to get it. This place isn't here to be the next big sheep herd (sorry, 'nice simming community'), it's more a secondary (maybe tertiary, I dunno) base of operations for the anti-paysite THING...

But I wont. The last time I edited I deleted the whole thing by accident.

This site is famous/notorious among many forums and when they email me or each other they voice their opinion of the posts. They didn't say you're a stupid lot just that there's nothing interesting to talk about. THEIR actual words were boring. See the emphassis on the word 'their'? re: undereducated and boring
I think alot of people post here because they can say things here they can't say elsewhere...those topics tend to range from providing evidence of shady behavior to gossiping about (or linking to) sims sites and their owners...not everyone is going to be interested in the same things nor have the same sense of humor...so this forum isn't for everybody...no one is forcing you to read anything here or download any of the booty (I wonder if you have...)

As for alot of people registering and not saying anything...that happens on almost every single forum....alot of people like to register just so they can click the "mark forums read" link....or they register and just havent found a post they want to respond to yet...or haven't found the right words to express what they want to say...not everybody is chatty

And I am not sure about anyone's education level, but judging by most of the posts here, I'd have to say the average IQ here seems higher than at some other sites, not lesser. I have a college education and my partner is a HS graduate (we are smart in different areas, and i agree with the previous post about how schooling isnt indicative of intelligence level)...we both have enjoyed reading this forum...Although I'm not interested in some of the threads here or the completely offtopic rambling about creepy looking dolls and nasty my little pony porn  , for the most part, there seems to be alot of intelligent posting going on and I'm interested in it...it's actually refreshing to read posts that don't look like they came from an AIM conversation and at the same time read something entertaining and have myself quite a giggle

It has a lot to do with the ban on number names, I think. I find that outlawing number-names seems to give the forum an atmosphere of erudition, whether or not it's actually true. Other sites have taken to emulating the ban on number-names and other assorted username-mutilation.

I'll skip the quotes if you don't mind.

It is tiresome that out of 30 something post most people grabbed out one measly word: uneducated.

For the last time I didn't write that the members here are stupid or uneducated. I said or at least I meant ( if you think it was so badly phrased) that not everybody who comes here is a kid or uneducated. That at least to me means the people who come here daily to look around. NOT THE MEMBERS for Christ's sakes. There's no need trying to convince me who and who doesn't have a diploma. I couldn't care less and I cant see it anyway now, can I? I don't have a diploma either, so?

( I wonder if you have...) thats a freaking quote.

I'm not entirely clean of that. I gave this link to 13 people. The next day when I went to the library I saw this site on almost all the monitors. There are 28 monitors there!  I was shocked out of my shoes. I know  that the boys dont even play sims. Two days later the whole campus knew and I guess by now the whole country knows.

I did understand from Blue's first post that the talk about "uneducated" was referring to visitors as well as (potentially) regulars but the point of it never made sense. Blue did not seem to be complaining about everyone who comes here being treated as a child/idiot, and while there are threads that are far from high brow, some of the discussion here is quite mature giving those who care to read it something worthwhile to do with their time.
So, while understanding that Blue might be upset for having the "uneducated" bit jumped on the way it was, I still don't know why it was said in the first place. It's hardly surprising that it was focussed on given that it is part of an incomplete argument.

I dont think it was incomplete. Why I said it? Just statistics I guess.

If I remember correctly EA Games sold about 8 million sims2 games (and I'm not counting the illegal copies which are an other couple of millions I guess).
Do you really think that all 8 million are educated?
Or just the ones who come here?

Why take it upon themselves anyway?

Someone mentioned that nobody is forced to read anything.  Well, I'm not a medium to know what's behind a title. I'm sorry. I'm really not interested how the guy gets laid. Its his private affair.

well, to play the game requires some intelligence. that goes for all 8 million.  what i am starting to glean from your use of the term "educated" is more the mores of a culture that believe if one is educated that person is "better" than another. and that the  higher eschelons of education bequeath  greater blessings of privlege and power than the low and unwashed masses can even began to fathom. that the "educated" would know where that 3rd spoon is placed and whom should sit to your left or right. and they would frown upon such a vulgar and crass forum that does not warn of sexually explicit material within.  just use "class" in lieu of "educated" .

I'd guess that anyone who has access/owns a pc is educated .. to what degree depends on how you define it.

Now.. just how does one tell the education level of a poster? L337 speak, texting speak,  foreign to the English language and drunk speak    can all cause one to read more into a post than need be.

Obviously anyone who has made it as far as PMBD is pc literate .. what their grammar level is, is moot.

So .. what defines an educated file grabber?

Perhaps one who realizes that paysites suck and that Ea's/Maxis' leniency has been taken advantage of.....

Personally I think some people are hopping on the "uneducated" remark because they've already debated the other topics and want something new to debate, rather than the same topic over and over again (seriously, the "wtf are you people doing" debate has gone at least three times on this forum).

I know I would do the same, but I'm not a strong debater, so off I go.

You're probably right.

I wonder if Lizard's thread can be considered a debate since we were actually talking to a wall when we answered to its "questions".

Who are these people? "In total there are 21 users online :: 7 Registered, 4 Hidden and 10 Guests".
The "hidden" category disturbs me. "Guests" could be anybody, no problem there.

Is the FBI a paysite? If so, what should we do about them?
Is their CC any good?

Inquiring minds want to know.

FBI CC is high poly and obviously just a cut-and-paste job on most of it.

Also, maybe some of them are black hats that are married to paysite owners out to kick some ass because we're mean or something.

Well in my first post I responded to a lot more that the 'undereducated' remark, but I didn't really get a reply to any of the other responses I made and in saying that you didn't state that anyone was uneducated, you weren't responding to my post, because I didn't claim that you did. For there to be a debate here, you'd have to respond to more of the posts that aren't about the 'undereducated' thing.

I still don't understand why you think that there should be talk about other stuff here, or what point you're trying to make about people registering here, or what you think is wrong with discussing the sex life of a man who has put information on the internet, about his sex life, to be read. I'd be happy to discuss those things if you'd care to clarify any of them.

I'm sorry, I must have overlooked your post. Everywhere I turned I saw the word 'uneducated' so I focused on that.

The Jack guy. Now this is what I mean when I say uneducated people. No one in their right mind would put something like that on the net about his private life. At the same time I don't believe smarter people should search out information like this about someone's misery just to laugh about it. To stamp into someone's life like that is not only dishonorable but downright mean. He may have deserved some sort of a 'punishment' but in my opinion this was going way too far.

About registering.  The more the better as the saying goes.
The growth of this site would greatly annoy the majority of the opposition. I just suggested that to make this so called 'war' a little more on equal level.

About the topics. This is a good site and I see a lot of really smart people too. I saw a couple of them on other forums and they were very civil and professional. Not at all what I heard about the members here. I just suggested that they could share their views on topics not related to the game. Um...I like to hear what real everyday people think about politics or their politicians. But as I understand if this isn't a forum for that.

Well I don't think that education or intelligence has much to do with posting stuff about yourself on the net, I know several intelligent, well educated people who put information about themselves on livejournal accounts that I would personally consider too private. There are many different reasons for doing so, from just wanting to write down your thoughts and feelings to see what other people think about them, to deliberately trying to shock and annoy people. But whatever the reason, the fact is these people are sharing personal things with people they don't know, knowing that those people will not always have the same opinions as them, and knowing that these people will probably discuss what they think with other people. If they don't like what people say about them, they shouldn't read whatever has been said about them, or they should only tell people whose response they are already certain of. You say it is mean and dishonourable, but I know plenty of people who don't approve of my lifestyle, or think that I'm wrong/ugly/pathetic/snobby/common/stupid/whatever and I don't think that if they discuss these views with other people and laugh at me, that they're mean or dishonourable. That doesn't mean I'm going to like what they say about me, or think that there is any truth in their opinion of me, I just don't think that they're bad people for talking about me, unless they are telling lies about me. Wow, that was longer than I expected.

Quote from: "Blue"

The growth of this site would greatly annoy the majority of the opposition.

Probably, but not everyone here is interested in annoying the opposition, and this doesn't strike me as the sort of site that would benefit much from encouraging people to post, as others have said, the forum isn't the point of the site, the booty is.

Quote from: "Blue"

I just suggested that they could share their views on topics not related to the game. Um...I like to hear what real everyday people think about politics or their politicians. But as I understand if this isn't a forum for that.

Given how much the threads here get derailed anyway, in all probability other subjects, like politics, will get discussed at some point. But most of the people here probably have other places they talk about those sort of topics, and don't feel that this forum needs to try to branch out to keep their interest. If conversation about filesharing and paysites runs out before all paysites are destroyed and the site becomes unneeded, either we'll find other things to talk about, or we'll stop talking. It doesn't really matter to me which that is, as I have other sites that I post in, where I can post about any crap I like.

It wasn't some sort of "punishment", but it was to entertain people. As far as I am concerned, he posted them on a PUBLIC MySpace. It's not like it was set to "private". We didn't talk much about all aspects of his sex life, that's his thing. We joked about the dirty jockstrap and the fact that he's living with his parents at 30 and does not have a job because he's an immigrant.

The only reason Motoki had found out what he was doing was because he not only at one time linked his blog from his site, but he also regularly mentioned his website/sim creating on his blog.  He did not spend time searching to randomly punish some paysite creator.  Jack put it out there on the public domain, and in my opinion once you put something out there, everyone is free to comment, it's just the way the world works.

This forum is not about being **super nice** and censoring, and I don't think it's about "puishment" either.  It's about reality, in reality paysites are supposed to be non-commerical, in reality Jack is one truly uh "gross" and lazy individual.  That is a truth he put out there about himself and reality is not always pleasant.

I thank you for your answer. I wanted to post a long one again but I thought better of it. I would only come to the same conclusion anyway. The booty. Everything is for the booty. They told me I just didn't want to believe it. The real world, huh? Someone wrote here that she could care less what happens to this site afterwards. And the people? I didn't even reply to that. Its just sad and...empty. I got the best answer from DelMita. It was short:anarchy.

I never said that the people who made fun of Jack were bad. Mean yes in this case but not bad or evil etc.. And the method was...not nice if the other word is too harsh. But maybe its just me. I would never intentionally hurt/humiliate someone this way.
Sometimes I read livejournals too. They put in all kinds of stuff about their life but never did I see them discussing their sexlife in such a detail. But I know there are people with more exotic tastes. I just never seen one.

I don't hate OpenLegsJack.  Don't even know the guy beyond the strange ramblings he posted on his Myspace.  Hell, after a while no one talked about Jack anymore, save for the latecomers that wanted to mention the guy.  It was good gossip while it lasted.

Until I got into MATY, most of the forums I was at were moderated.  I would think that it's easier to go from a moderated forum to an unmoderated one, but that just might be me.  I don't really feel the need to tattle on people or lecture them if they do something naughty on a forum.

I can protect myself. So can most people around here. Plus my world doesn't revolve around the sims universe, and if I do something dumb enough to be banned from polite sims society I'll manage to go on with my life. Why is this "participation" of which you speak so imporatant to you? Thousands of members would do what exactly, scare the pants off of MTS2? Picket EA's corprate headquarters? No, they would probably spam the board like this. Pescado has a following from his own creations already, any additional armies or minions from here is just a perk for him.

I don't want to kill you, I just keep wondering if something fell on your head this morning. The idea behind the site is that paying for things made for the sims2, a hobby people participate in by choice borders on asinine. That includes forums. Why are you infatuated with garnering money on a site against paysites you have no stake in?

I don't really care for typed confabs, I'd rather call someone!

But you've made me grumpy this lovely Sunday lunchtime. Ergo, this post. I can't really say I care for your suggestions, but to be honest, it doesn't matter a bit. It ain't up to me. I'll probably just ignore the rest of this thread and really not care much.

I've d/l'd a nice chunk of booty, I've read the posts on lyriclee and delphy and pegy and rose and whatever... But I keep coming back to see if any of these posts tickle me, whilst I d/l free cc from other sites (because that does get a bit boring, with all the repeated thanx!!!!! without something to read). I don't really care for debating with people on forums, generally I just mutter quietly to myself, until my boyfriend notices and calls me sad.

I'm going to go back to reading these strange and funny threads, and I'll probably never post again. But these weirdos really do make me laugh, something that seldom happens on the po-faced, desperately fawning, tweenage or middle-aged sims sites. They're quick, funny and rude.

This is just a diversion. The real stuff's under Booty.
You really don't get this site. Just leave people like me alone.

Ta ta.

P.s I've never been banned, because I never post. But I certainly wouldn't cry if someone did.

P.p.s Undereducated is a terribly mean word. It does imply superiority. And this is teh interweb, people do tend to focus on only asides and off the cuff phrases. That's why I don't post.

It's a shame you won't post more, because this is about how I feel in regards to these long and drawn out debates. I can't be assed to take any of this that seriously beyond guffawing at the behavior of incredibly odd people.  At least contribute to the quick, funny, and rude like I do.

The chicken I had for dinner presumably had "some amount of brain material," so your reply is really a non-reply.  I know what you mean though, and you're still equating stupidity with lack of education.   I've had a high amount of contact with college students over the past few years, and trust me, their presence in college classes was NOT proof of their intelligence.

I'm also quite certain that not all "uneducated" people are also stupid.  Besides, "uneducated" can mean too many different things.   Since no one knows it ALL, everyone is uneducated in some respects, no?

You should learn to say (write) what you mean--or to do a better job of hiding what you really think behind pretty words.  Take some writing classes perhaps.

I'm pretty easy to track down if people use their wits, one has found who I really am but no one else has either cared, succeeded or tried. Personally, I don't care much if they do. Banned from a forum? Oh ouch, my life is over. I was certainly banned enough places when I fileshared for Sims 1 but I found twice as many folks just like me to chat with.

Scared? Not really. I think I'll survive if a bunch of Sims players blackball me and block my paypal. No one did anything back when it was Sims 1 despite threats of virii, lawsuits and harassment, think that's really changed?

Gah... tl;dr to the rest of it

The booty. Everything is for the booty. They told me I just didn't want to believe it. The real world, huh? Someone wrote here that she could care less what happens to this site afterwards. And the people? I didn't even reply to that. Its just sad and...empty. I got the best answer from DelMita. It was short:anarchy.

I don't get what is wrong with having a site with stupid stuff on it, that people primarily visit to get the booty and read the gossip. The site may be 'sad and...empty', though I don't see that personally, but that's no reflection on the people here. What people see of me here isn't the whole me. Just because I enjoy gossip and the booty here doesn't mean that's all there is too me. I don't feel the need to have everyone here know everything about me and my opinions and I doubt many of those people care much about making friends here and making it a lasting place to stay in. We have other places to do that, like real life, and every place we post in on the internet doesn't have to be well rounded and 'nice'. Your post seems to imply there is something unpleasant or lacking in that, but there isn't.

Quote from: "Blue"

I never said that the people who made fun of Jack were bad. Mean yes in this case but not bad or evil etc.. And the method was...not nice if the other word is too harsh. But maybe its just me. I would never intentionally hurt/humiliate someone this way.

Do you know he was hurt or humiliated by the posts here? For all you know he could be an attention whore who loves that people here have been talking about him. Or he could be a rational adult (unlikely, I know) who doesn't care what a group of people who don't even know him, think about him. I've read the thread and I don't see that people were trying to hurt or humiliate him, they were just discussing him and having a laugh at his expense. Despite what you might have been taught as a child, laughing at someone is not intentionally hurting them, and most people get used to being laughed at long before they get to an age where they can post on the internet about how they're whoring themselves out for underwear.

I don't want to annoy people anymore with my long posts so I'll try to be as short as possible.
We will never see eye to eye in the 'jack' business. Maybe because I'm not that open minded but most probably because of my age. Time will tell but to tell you the truth I don't want to change that much. At least not in this.
As for the forum...I guess I have to accept it. Its unique and I learned a lot that's for sure. In a way this was an adventure and now I have some perspective about how people think, feel, the level of their tolerance etc outside of my own community.

Thanks for your time and patience.

Ok, I have a confession:

I mostly just mark the forum read and be done with it, especially in the case of threads that go on for pages.  At first, reading a funny thread or a good piece of gossip is just that:  fun, but it gets old really quick for me.

If it's a simple request thread I scream about it and then lock it :P  And now that I have a thank you thread (that people are abusing *cough*) I don't see threads specifically to thank us anymore.

So for unmoderated forums, that's just the JM Pescado way. MATY is mostly unmoderated and I don't see that changing, and this forum is mostly an extension of RetardoLand really, with an emphasis on paysites and their sometimes evil and sometimes disturbing overlords.

If you don't like the forum, no one expects you to.  And no one forces you to register and read it and you wouldn't even know it was here if you didn't click that link on the front page (or have someone link you, whatever).

Just grab the booty and go; no unmoderated forum reading necessary.

I think, above all, this is the point people have been trying to make all along. This isn't a normal Sims community. Never has been, never will be. And you came in here like a missionary, saying 'Unwashed savages, you're doing it wrong, I'll save you and show you how to do it properly!!' then reeled off a bunch of suggestions which, for anywhere else, would have been wonderful and appreciated, but here, they're just not really valid...Because the people who are regulars here are happy being bitchy, and off-topic, and disorganized, and lurky, and everything else, and more importantly, Pescado's happy with this setup.

I may be wrong but after rereading the thread I keep having this gut feeling that Blue is deliberately taunting us. Everything drips of thinly veiled insults. He/she packed it up nicely but its plain to see.

Yes, after the 'undereducated' thing I tried to ignore the insults in Blue's posts and concentrate of disputing the points s/he made, however Blue's responses smack of 'I don't have to debate this with you, since I'm clearly a morally superior person.'

Quote from: "Blue"

This is basically suggesting that if Blue became like us it would be a change for the worse, and that either we're less tolerant than her 'community', or we're more tolerant of mean people, which makes me wonder what community that is. Here the only things I've seen that people are intolerant of are paysites and stupidity. Not many communities (in real life or on the net) that I know of are, more tolerant than that.

Orlando Bloom is from Canterbury, where I used to live. One of my friends went to the same school as him, you know. At...a different time. >.>

As much as I love to hear an accent which is truly local to me in movies, I do find him a dreadfully dull pirate...

Don't kid yourself you did come here to judge. Your entire post is your assessment of this forum, its members, and how it should operate. You made some valid points and you made some derogatory comments, which is fine with me. I’d rather read a post like yours that seems to have some thought put into because it makes me think.

No worries about the argument, he needs to win every now and then. I can't believe I didn't recognise the wheel though. Much embarassment for that.

I'm sorry, you misspelled his name, but it's OrBLANDo. Renamed by hubby. It suits him. We watched Return of the King on Sunday night and got a giggle at that too. I must say that the first PotC was better and I'm not too hopeful for the third, although I will naturally see it.

See, Orblando may be a bad pirate, but I sure wouldn't kick him out of my bed. He just needs to stop talking and look pretty.

Of course, Johnny Depp is a walking orgasm in a class all by himself.

*pops in the PotC DVD just to hear the accent*

...oh, and to stay on topic - I are two edukated! I am vary smart on teh interwebs. *was too distracted by HapaHoale's icon to pay much attention to all of that*

EDIT: wrote "butt" instead of "bed". How deliciously Freudian of me.

I quite liked OrBlando to start with. He featured prominently in the conversation which really started things going with my now hubby. It was our first long conversation, the one that makes you start to think differently about someone who has just been a friend. It was one line in particular from LOTR, I think 2 Towers, that started to put me off him. After the others have finished discussing what they're going to do he says "A diversion!" as if he's just had a brainwave. I know it was for the benefit of all the lowest common denominator morons they expect at blockbuster films, but did they really need the 700 (or whatever it is) year old elf to say it? It was badly placd comedy. The first PotC when he was just this pissy little boy was great, but he takes himself too seriously now. I liked him before but now even his pretty boy looks aren't quite enough for me. I only watched the second one for Sparrow.
As for being on topic, these are random thoughts. They're mine. And while I'm at it, I will also point out that I do love your av Plum. I didn't realise what was going on at first as I don't usually pay much attention to the little pictures on the side. I certainly did a double take when I did notice it however.

Yes, when PotC first came out, my sister in law's little teenage friends were all like 'Ooh, Orlando Bloom...*wetpanties*' and I was like 'Excuse me?! JOHNNY DEPP?!?!'.......then suddenly they all realised. And I was like 'I remember him when he was hot and popular the first time round'. Which made me feel vastly superiour.

"Robin Hood - legendary English outlaw of the 12th century; said to have robbed the rich to help the poor"

*gasp!!!*

I've got it!!

Paysites are, in fact, a massive money laundering racket!!

Oh, WHY did I not see it sooner?

But more seriously, the only thing I can even think of happening in this manner, is the booty being put on discs and sold on TEH BLAK MARKIT, with the money going to organized crime. Which, let's face it, isn't exactly a new idea, or ever gonna stop.

Either that, or booty has become currency for drug barons with 12 year-old daughters...
