Love it how they're saying what this site is doing is illegal...even when I'm sure the creators charging for content are doing something illegal as well.

I'm amused. I liked the way that the single most official response, before it was locked, was basically 'Cuz we sed so, iziiiiit!'

All the people who think the world owes them something because they can make something a pretty color can leave and quit sucking all the fun out of the game. Seriously, they can get out right now.

Bah. Who needs it anyway? I don't think I'm even registered at S2C. I checked it out and found it a little too close to BBS type stuff for me. Not as bad, but still clearly overrun by teenagers and things. Thats how I fell in with the BAD people at MATY, I'm a sucker for that intelligent conversation. (And yes, the retardoland stuff too. But don't tell!)

*edit* So... who wants to be the one that tells Delphy about the EULA and the fact that the content here was bought and paid for? Volunteers? Anyone? Anyone?

*edit again* Nevermind. Pescado already did it.

I mean you're all for shouting US laws, etc, when file sharing and thieves come out of the woodwork. But when it comes to something called Free Speech, you cower and pull up IM A DICTATOR defences. Just remember, you're gonna get hanged at some point.

I think Lyric has actually said herself, in the midst of a hissy fit on S2C that there is no free speech there, cos it's a PRIVATE board... Guess that means they get to pick and choose what human rights they adhere to, as it's PRIVATE...

Technically, this is entirely true. The American Constitution (which the present administration happens to use for terlet paper), only states that the government can't interfere with it. Doesn't say anything about Internet forums or other private places. If I don't like what you're saying, I can kick you out of my store. I'm not the government.

Me, though, well, you can tell just by looking around what my views on free speech are. It may be perfectly acceptable to be go and censor everyone since I don't represent a government, and besides, we're in Malaysia, but I actually believe in the entire "free speech" thing and am not going to wrangle legal hairs over it.

No no. Don't feel like that. You were perfectly right in that, although her behaviour may be legal, it certainly isn't just or right or fair or whatever synonym you wanna stick in here.

MTS2 was founded and reached it's height in popularity on the fact that it was an adult site, 180 out from the BBS, and everyone was treated fairly and justly and the same. And also because they had Pescado and Pescado made the base game work. Delphy likes to forget that part....

All that started changing the minute Eve walked.....was Eve's departure the reason for change? Appears to be so..... But 'only the 'Delphster' and his (just a minute, I need to go Ralph...) hairdresser knows for sure'.....

I still am not getting How the discussion of Sims files falls into the rules Delphy listed i nthe one thread.

Quote
The Sims 2 community houses many great creators. In support of them and their work we have taken a firm stand against the promotion of software piracy (also known as warez) and the theft of digital media and other intellectual property (IP).

As such any forum member that advocates the theft of IP, or provides access through any means to warez, will be banned. You can consider warez to be anything related to the downloading of cracks and serial numbers or the downloading/sharing of software not licensed in accordance publisher’s wishes. Take note that file sharing of bootleg music or pirated software through peer to peer programs like Kazaa is a form of warezing.

None of what that says has not a damn thing to do with this site and what we share.
No one is bootlegging No one is sharing cracks or anything that EA owns and is not OK with sharing.
He is such a trick.

Really if you think of it, it's probably in his best interest to just not allow talk about it. Not only would it be never ending, inflamatory and a huge headache for people running the place, but it's easier to just say "this isn't allowed here" than it is to patrol volatile threads.

At least he's more honorable than Lyric. He wasn't the one banning people for what they said on other sites.

Hmm you can't really blame Delphy for reacting like that, one of MTS2's biggest policies is the rights of a content creator to their creations(Which this site openly defies).  Regardless of the goal, you can't expect MTS2 to support the means of which this site runs.

I'm not saying that I don't agree with the mission statement of PSMBD, I really like the idea of purging the overwhelming amount of greed swelling within the community.  It really needs to be done, and I don't think there is any more effective way to do it.  I would be glad to see them all "take their toys and go home" however it would be nice if a few of them had the dignity to just keep creating for free because they enjoy it(if they ever enjoyed it).

EA games on the other hand seems to accept paysites on the same grounds that they accept free ones.  They both just provide more content to keep people playing their game(buying their expansions, etc.) but obviously the destruction of paysites wouldn't put a tear to their eyes and actually be mildly beneficial to them.  Most of their customers are too young(12) to be subscribing to all those paysites anyway.

If you want to advertise I'd suggest the BBS.  They have no reasons to oppose sharing CC free or pay(that is why they have the Exchange after all) and its full of people(err.. animals?).  Stirring up trouble at MTS2 isn't achieving anything except infamy.

I personally blame him for this silly "OMG hush it up hush it up" scramble because the bigger a deal you make of something you don't want other people to know, the faster it's going to spread in whispers - with nasty gossip attached (Oooh, he cheated on Eve? I had a feeling something bad had gone down back then but that is low).

The best way to counter speech you don't like is not censorship but more speech. If Delphy got this site out in the open and publicly - no, wait, that would take something well thought out and require that he stand behind it, and he's never shown much evidence of a backbone. Or brains, hence why I didn't finish my thought; can't go around giving them ideas.

The Suck level at MTS2 is downright critical these days.  I remember back in the day, this site would have been thrown its own ticker tape parade by MTS2

Amen to that. How the mighty have fallen. It used to be the anti-sheep site relatively uncensored and saucy as hell with lots of attitude. Now it is a sheep site.

And Renatus, he never stands behind anything or anyone. Not for very long anyway.

When MTS2 came along there was a scramble to keep them out of sight too! lol. They were the bad guys and Delphy and Eve were totally loud about dissing those that shunned them, how they hated paysites, etc.

Yes, how the mighty have fallen....a slow, sure slide since Eve left.

I don't think anything has purposely been pushed in MTS2's face.  Lyriclee was a target because she banned Pescado from chat, she kept calling me a thief, even though she had no proof since I hadn't even started uploading shit to this site, and all the while she was downloading stuff here herself.

Not to mention she sends pay files all the time to her friends through MSN.  It's only because she works (worked?) at MTS2 that it even got mentioned at all.

However, having said that, it's not like Pescado to be subtle.

What I honestly find interesting about all of this is not the fact that everyone who hates this site has downloaded from it but that on S2C Delphy is actually taking a stand on something. From what I've observed he never does anything, but always leaves it up to LyricLee.

She's no longer an admin. I don't know if she's still posting.

The last I saw/heard was she had taken down all her downloads (moving to exnem anyone?) and she's still listed as a user...

maybe she will go soon, just to spite us? (i.e make a lot of people happy)

I started the thread... No where in the rules did it say I couldn't put i PMBD in my siggie. Then on here I read they'd take it off so I had to put it up there. I got in trouble there and a friend of mine Pmmed me telling me to be careful on another site. I'm not afraid of lyric or the other mods. I really don't care anymore. I'm going to finish out my contest there and then I'm not going back. All my stuff will be on InSim. This is BULL!
I see Delphy warned you. Blech.
I so *hate* how MtS and S2C are quickly becoming a sort of online-tird-reich. No wonder if they'll introduce a "Heil-Delphy" button somewhere.  :?

So sad. MtS used to be a lovely place, once.

I kind of majored in Gossips, so I'm loving all this Eve-Delphy drama. I didn't know about it

I wonder if they removed her because of the incident with bleeping out the insimenator.net website when people would link to it?

I think it was some other thing. It's in some other thread. Something about disagreements and her being a raging bitch and whatnot.

Such drama! I've never been into Sims enough socially to get into all this stuff. But really, the stuff that's coming out here. Who would've thought some of these pple were the way they are?

I, too, remember the heady first days of MTS2. It was so great back then. I can't remember when it turned into such a shithole. I just sort of gradually stopped going there, and now I only go for the d/ls, which are still pretty good.

Good night.  I had NO idea what all drama was around   I kind of figured all the different creators knew each other - it goes with the territory, no matter what the subject matter is.  But I had no idea all the drama/soap opera behind the scenes.  Honestly, I shouldn't be surprised, but man...

Yeah, it all seems a pleasant enough place, with us as the only 'bad guys' out there, until you scratch the surface...:D

I find it all so fascinating. I only go there for the downloads, and since I started my own site (so I could do whatever I wanted to) I had some uploads. But that's about it. But it is fun to hear the gossip and be able to read between the lines from now on. Heh.

It turned into a "shithole' because of the control freaks trying to tell the creators what they could and could not do when they were the first people learning how the game functions and started modding the game.

In the begining everyone was working together as it should be, sorely it is not the way anymore,
everyone started fighting, some of the creators lashed out then left the forum to find their own ways in the sims community, to bad it has to be this way, i bet we could have even better content by now? if everyone were working together.

God forbid people work together on something and have to share the credit.

Working together?  Cooperation?

That'd be something like a website (free, naturally) which hosts meshes and templates.  Possibly tutorials, because frankly, I hate looking in half a dozen places only to find out that nobody has the one I need anyway.

So, this site would host meshes with a recolorable texture.    This would be resource only.

Any idiot could then download the mesh, open the texture in their favorite program, and make whatever fashion travesty they wanted.  The same with objects, such as templates for bedding, chairs, etc.

Creators for actual clothing and recolours would need to host their shiny things elsewhere, but everyone could visit Mr Common Repository on an equal basis.

Maybe that's part of EA's reason for fence sitting. Imagine if everyone did work together. CC would easily beat Maxis content in style, form and function. Who'd buy a stuff pack then?

Wow, its causing a dent in the community, and all the mods and staff hate this site (most), and I was sent here by a mod! lol Whatever

Don't worry, not in a traitor, spy way, just as a "you should go here" site
