Maybe you shouldn't celebrate Christmas, then. Do what I do: Celebrate the Great Scoffing instead. Which is incidentally celebrated on the day as far from Christmas as possible.

Har har har! I celebrate the winter solstice, I just celebrate it a couple days after it occurs. Because we all know, the christians made it around that time to try and merge and wipe the other earth based religions because they couldn't just wave a stick at them and threaten them to be christian or else.

He was born on April 6 according to the Jewish calendar and also died on the 6th of April.

Christmas is the day when I get FREE STUFF.

I like FREE STUFF. Which is why I hang around here.

I'm not religious, I just like the excuse to stuff myself, and do not much productive for 2 weeks every December.

In my opinion, this thread is so stupid. Like a thread on sim (filesharing) site would make people say, "They hate Christmas, let's not celebrate it."

When you are like maybe 30-ish or something, Christmas becomes a load of shit but when you are still younger than 18, or whatever, most people I know still like it. It's all about PRESENTS! I got Glamour life and Happy Holdiay stuff this year, I'm happy as hell

I celebrate eating and getting drunk and then going to sleep under the Christmas tree.

I'm very glad it's all over very very soon. I have a head-ache.

I agree.
For some reason, I had to help two different neighbors who had lost their door key. They ate some of my christmas cakes, also.
Uhm.

Drinking in the daytime without feeling guilty, and days off from work.

Umm, yeah, I love Christmas for those two reasons alone!

It's sad that some of you don't like Christmas. It's one of the few times a year I get to see my sister and some of my cousins. It's fun.

I mean- ARR!! Let down the anchor! Wind at yer back, lads!

Just get decently drunk before you go out in the mobs of apes.  Makes it a lot easier.

I got a digital camera and a bunch of chocolate, and fed on bacon and wine until sated.

The effort required on my part was minimal.  I wrapped some things, but I like tying bows.  It gives me a sense of accomplishment.

Besides, twinkly lights are pretty.

I got an Animal Clinic computer game from my 8 year old cousin.

I'm convinced it's just so she can play it when she comes over. Plotting little bastard.  :x

No drinking for me (yet) we're still at my hubbies parents... but we'll be at my sisters for dinner :}  So hopefully the pina colada will flow liberally.

I got a knitting machine thingy and I made a blue and white scarf.  Not to shabby for someone who'd never knitted before. :D

I don't mind Christmas.  I don't think it is a religous holiday for various reasons including the fact that we spend more time telling kids about Santa than about J.C.  *shrugs*  I'm not christian so it don't bother me none.

I had a shitty, shitty Christmas. It was all circumstance though, fuckload of circumstance, I still have a stupid childlike adoration of it in principle.

Christmas does not amuse me in the least. Every time someone tries to fill me with Christmas cheer, I think of the rolls of flab I get from all that roast beef and ham and get depressed.

On the other hand, my sister and her boyfriend gave me manga so yay!

I found a dead, stinking mouse under my refrigerator this morning. Ugh, perfect beginning to herald the fucking foul mood that I was in all day. Pity party, private, while I made sure that everyone was fed and comfortable. I'm beginning to hate this holiday, but I'm still such a godmned baby when I see all the pretty lights.  Ooooh!

I love Christmas.  But, my family all gets along, and my boyfriend's family all get along, so there's no drama--not bad drama anyway--and there's the food, and at my mom's house there's booze.  There's no booze at the bf's family home, but they give GREAT gifts, so it's all good.

Maybe people who don't like Christmas just need to adopt new families.

On that note: I *LOVED* Christmas when I was a kid. No worries, no resposiblities, nada! Now I have to WORK (just to make ends meet) the day before and after Christmas. I couldn't buy anything for ANYONE this year. :( My baby daddy PISSED me the fuck off and I ain't gonna talk to his bitch ass anymore (which is a hard thing to do). My family made me angry..... Should I keep going? *other forum members: PLEASE DON'T!* It's just the same shit, different day. I'm going through WAY too much right now. I WISH I could share the joy and spirit of the holiday, but the magic of Christmas is gone for me. Too much STRESS. But to those who do enjoy: MERRY CHRISTMAS!! :) Hope the day went by good for you!

The real Spirit of Christmas is gone to the days of old,
it is more about what and how many advertisements the bloody retail shops can come up with to get you to buy crap, what makes your kids happy makes them rich,
plus if you dont buy tons of presents for your kids you are not a very good parent kind of thing and then your kids get made fun of at School, everyone calls you a cheap miser and so on.

Bah Humbug!

If you have that many friends that remember you and go to the effort just to be with you on a holiday then I would consider you a   very blessed person.   Who cares about material gifts when you have so many that care?

At least they just want your mom's cooking. My relatives who come over every family reunion want my money.

(Seriously. I suppose it's a Filipino thing. We give money to the kids. Just small amounts, like 50 or 100 pesos per child so they can buy stuff like pre-paid Ragnarok credits. But it pisses me off when their parents ask for money too. T_T)

For Christmas, my sisters and their kids came over.
I have 7 nephews and 1 niece, and I bought them all presents.
My mom gave me a dvd player.
I kept putting off buying one for myself because I rarely rent or buy movies.
One of my sisters gave me cute pajamas and slippers and a Christmas card that actually made me cry a little.
I was happy just seeing the family together and my nieces and nephews be happy .
I actually didn't want presents for myself, but I'm pleased that I got some.
I had a wonderful Christmas.

I still like Christmas, although I don't have the  enthusiasm as  I once did as a child. Back then it was almost magical I loved going to my Great Aunt's house for Christmas eve and being with my cousins and listening to the Yule log play Christmas Carols on the TV. Coming home, my mother would give each of us brand new Christmas pajamas  and we'd all went to bed with anticipation for Santa to come to my house to drop off all our Christmas presents. We also wore on Christmas day matching outfits in different colors<yeah I know how lame is that ?>

Now,  Meh, all Christmas is to me is a day off and lots of presents that I gave and received. I  did get some great presents though, so all in all I like Christmas but I find it inexplicable that some people go real overload with it.

I love Christmas, to me it's still a religious holiday even after I found out that it was originally a winter fest for the Sun god that the Romans worshiped.  Constantine, who was Christian decided that it would be easier for the populous to convert if he placed the celebration of Christ on a pre-existing day of worship ie. Sunday and on a pre-existing birthday celebration, being December 25th.  For whatever reasons and however it came about, it's what is in my heart and my thoughts that matters to me and my family.
I quit buying gifts for adults years ago, except for my spouse.  It's about giving to the kids now.  I try very hard to instill in the children that it is about giving and focus on our religious beliefs instead of the commercial production around us.
On top of that we had a lovely family dinner and sat around the table laughing and talking about family.  I completly loved it.
