Title: sims 2 extension packs and content
Post by: takart on 2008 November 08, 07:34:19
i just wish people would please take the time to "properly" add what game etx packs they used and are needed for "ALL" sims stuff you download, it would make it a hell of a lot easier for those of us who cannot purchase high speed and expensive computers and to also purchase all the ext packs and stuff packs, then our games wouldnt crash cause somone hasntlisted what stuff or ext packs r needed, its so bloody frustrating deleting and at times re-installing the game because somone hasnt put the right content n packs needed on there downloads, please guys a coupla mins more to type a few words will help us sooooooooooooooo much ??? :( ;) :-* :-\ :'( :'( :'( :'(

It's not yet Sunday in the future, so I don't know why you're doing this.  Who the hell are you talking to - cause pay artists don't care what you think.

I just wish takart would read the FAQ before posting. I also wish that takart could also use capital letters and punctuation. That would be awesome.

ummm ya, anyway...

This actually brings up an interesting point. I've never understood all this reinstalling business. Only once have I ever had to do that and it was after a complete system overhaul. I mean I'll admit to having cracked open a few core files just to see what's inside or make adjustments but I always have a backup ready in case I fuck it up. What piece of CC would create a need to reinstall? It's such a labourious process and wouldn't necessarily solve a content issue so why would you do that?

Because some people can't comprehend that you can start your Neighborhoods folder or your Downloads folder over fresh without reinstalling the software too? Heaven forbid they should learn basic computer troubleshooting techniques.

I've had to do it once, because I was dicking around with the core files and sort of forgot what went where and mixed up the backups and the files I borked and it was a right mess. I don't know what I expected to find in there either. I guess I was just curious.

Other than monumental fuckups like mine, I really can't see what would possess you to go through that tedious install/patch/mod process again without at least trying to

I reinstalled twice. :-[ I couldn't figure out why my game wouldn't start. I realized (like a dumbass) that I had been forgetting to delete my .cache files.  ::)

Back, quite a while ago, when I had no fucking idea what I was doing, I reinstalled my game because of some glitch in a house.

I suppose it wouldn't have hurt to check the OTHER houses, right?

That was bad and stupid and dumb.

I've never whole-game reinstalled. Even when I switched from my laptop to my PC, I used a program called Aloha Bob and it moved everything flawlessly.

I've done whole re-installs when I tinker with the configuration of my computer. It honestly doesn't bother me to do it most of the time. I'm one of the odd ones that installs, patches, defrags and on down the line until all of the games are in. And yeah, I defrag after each EP is installed. I think the next time I do it, gonna install up to Night Life and bring back Bella and see how it goes. :D

Hmmmm...I've never installed an extension pack. Is it similar to an expansion pack I wonder?  ::)

Surely you've heard of extention packs! In the hierarchy of sim games they're right between stuff packs and expansion packs. (So from lowest to highest it's Sims Store crap, Life Stories, stuff packs, extention packs, expansion packs, original game). 'Sims 2: Out for Revenge' and 'Sims 2: Girly Gay' are my favourites so far.

What can I say to that besides  :D?

Devilfish, you've got a wicked sense of humor. Keep it up!  ;D

I was always fond of: "Sims 2: Hair Bands Reunited." Vince Neil even makes a special appearance to bring your sim a smashed up guitar and offers to take them to get a tattoo.

:D  Paden, I can haz awkward reading comprehension...

You reminded me of TheSims2: HATZ!  Pages upon pages of new mascot heads, helmets, hair clips and hatz upon hatz upon hatz!  Cluttering up your hair catalog in March 2009!

*hair bands sold separately.   ;)

Blame Mando for the hair bands one, she's the one that got me hooked on it. I think that's her favourite pack to date!

I kinda like the Sims 2:  Don't Laugh at Me xpack, a budget size offering of recolors that failed TSR's quality standards.

:-* To all of you! You're all nuts, but in a good way.  ;)

They say laughter is the best medicine. It hurts like hell to laugh right now, but I can put up with it. (Don't stop, don't stop!)

I meant "budget sized" as in vanishingly small. :D
