Title: Good morning, please check here
Post by: daniyagami on 2008 October 06, 15:57:13
A thread on going at GOS. (http://www.digitalperversion.net/gardenofshadows/index.php?topic=6096.15)
Have a nice day and keep the good job. ;D
My best regards to Lord Darcy who is a fine gentleman.

There are already a couple of threads dealing with this, in this particular section of the forum.

(and FYI, Lord Darcy is a girl).

Thanks for the info.

I understand, but PMBD requires a bit of LURK MOAR.  It's pretty hard to miss me here.

I confess I donīt lurk in several foruns. I just thought the extra backup files we are all doing could be useful here. Thatīs all. To be honest I donīt take part at PMDB or MATY for one single reason: my english is not good enough and I was attacked at MATY a couple times by old trolls who knows me from old incidents at TS1 times when I started to fight paysites. Since I really have difficulties in communication I dropped the option to go to certain boards. For me is enough to help from time to time when I can.
So, Iīm here just temporarily.
Thanks again.

Oh we couldn't care about language and spelling here - we like to have people from different countries.  We have people from all over the place - no one will have an issue with an translation problems, or poor English skills.  And fighting paysites in TS1 days will get you a pat on the back.  :D Just read a little more before you post a new thread, is all. We usually have the scoop on all paysite related stuff before anyone else.  ;)

Have some rum and cookies, daniyagami. PMBD isn't like MATY ;).

Also, your English looks pretty good to me.

I can also guarantee your english is tons better than my use of your native language.  So come back and have some rum.

For that matter, your english might be on a par with mine for typing, I have very bad typing/spelling/grammar skills.

I must confess I am pleasantly surprised. I never expected to be so welcome here :)
Thanks for the compliments, I am always trying to improve my english specially with verbs, verbs are my weakness.

Iīm aplogize for the unuseful thread, I confess I didnīt know where to post and I was trying to not mess with other threads. I thought that open a new thread could be the best option since a mod could delete or lock if consider unuseful.

About the paysites, I was one of the first creators who abandoned Simfreaks when they went pay, I was a simfreak. (2001? I canīt recall anymore). Heather offered me 500 bucks to "buy" my creations, I refused and I demanded to her to remove from Simfreaks. She made a lot of money with that site and with naive creators who had no idea that she was making profits at their cost. Later I knew that she was paying them some sort of salary, I donīt know if is true.

After leave Simfreaks I went to the old board The Good, the Bad and the Rant to tell the whole story there (PMDB didnīt exist at that time) and it was a good ugly fight. I won, she removed my stuff and a lot of people started to question about paysites. I was helped by several friends in my fight, of course. I tried to have another site with some friends but it was too expensive at that time. I gave up and started some yahoo groups and became filesharing. Iīm proud to say that I get mails from people asking about my TS1 stuff till today. File sharing was the best decision of my life. Full file sharing, I donīt control anything. I donīt care. I want people happy in have goodies for their games. I am blessed with the hability to make pretty things for this game, why not share?

I was off the community due personal real life issues since 2004 and when I came back last year I was surprised in see so many paysites and a lot of young people who thought that all custom content should be pay. I was like WTF? I loved when I discovered PMDB and when I read Heatherīs threathning letters and that she couldnīt do anything against PMDB. Made me feel really good. She got what she deserved.

Then here I am again. :)
Thank you for make me feel welcome. Thanks for keep the booty going.

(edit for clarification)

It's best to chuck it in one of the old threads, because we don't have a mod.  And your English is pretty good.

Good on you for chucking Simfreaks - it's nice to know there were people who refused to go along with it when it first got started.  :-*

;) Dani, it's a pleasure to see you..

I knew a woman called Intoxicating Chocolate or Nubian Doll, and I kinda wish she was still around the community like you are. Nubian Doll did what you did, she stuck it to some paysite owners good and proper, unfortunately she was doing it at a stage where the community wasn't ready. This Russian paysite owner screamed at her for using her stuff in screenshots without permission, so Deb turned round and recoloured her meshes and shared them freely.. the paysite owner went purple *chuckle*

Unfortunately, she was doing it before it was mainstream, so after a frustrating year or so, she eventually dissapeared.

Hey dani! Your english is really good. Probably better than mine.  :D Don't worry about spelling and such here. As long as it's understandable I think you will be okay. And from the looks of it you don't have the case of tl:dr either. Enjoy your stay and read the faqs!

By the way, am I the only one who goes back and reads the faqs sometimes? I found myself reading them to enjoy the pictures the other day.

Thanks for the compliments, Iīve been studying a lot to improve my english.
But at the time that I had to fight at the Good, the Bad and the Rant I didnīt even know what "cheesy" means :)
I read all FAQs before I post, I hate to commit mistakes and make mess. I didnīt know this was an immoderated board. I enjoy the pictures too, specially the avatars. I love Hecubus avatar. Itīs so awesome.
I remember Nubian Doll and there are still a lot of the "oldies" around, I kept contact with several people all this time, I have some good friends that I met through sims boards like Kiri, as example, another file sharing creations or CTNutmegger. We know each other for more than eight years by now. Itīs a lot of time.
But I digress.
I think I am going to read around, there is a lot of things to read here.
Hm. I think I just became part of the crew of this ship. We have a huge ship to sink called TSR. ;)

That TSR ship has to fully go under some time, and right here, are front centre seats!  ;D

Daniyagami, it seems you didn't use the same username at MATY, so I can't be sure the details of what went on. However, you should know that at MATY, while there's a good bit of bickering and noob-poking, if someone states they are ESL, grammar mistakes are ignored. Unless you pull a Gali. That's just fun for everyone.  There are perhaps four ESL posters I can think of off the top of my head who I honestly have a really hard time understanding, but no one teases them.

Gawd, get over yourself, your English is just fine. There's many of us not officially anglophone and if it wasn't for spell check I would suck at literacy more often than I do.  I haz good grammar days and bad grammar days. Here we care about what you have to say not how you say it.

For what it's worth, thanks for the link to GoS thread. I haven't gotten adept at finding my way around there yet, so have only trolled the download pages. I clicked on the TSR link, and left a post that more than likely will get me banned over there. Since this is the first time I've logged in there in like 2 years, I guess that won't bother me. Anyone who would like the text of the post I left is welcome to it. Just ask. I copied it into a notepad page for posterity.

ETA: Ok, now I killed the thread at TSR. I posted a perfectly reasonable objection to Thomass' justification, and apparently prompted a swarm of responses. Thomass sort of didn't like what I said I guess. Anyway, now the thread is closed to comments. There was something in the comment about haters making new accounts
Quote
Update: This post was never intended to be a forum for TSR haters and new account creators to post their rants against TSR, so for that reason, I'm disabling comments here. TSR is accused of being illegal and breaking laws every day by the haters who think that pay sites are illegal. It's a long debated and clearly fruitless argument. We are not illegal and we are here to stay. We don't share private data with anyone outside our organization. If you wish to continue the TSR bashing then go back to your own communities that encourage such activity.
but he couldn't have meant me, because that account has existed for about 4 years. Ever since The Sims 2 first came out. Actually, I had an account there with Sims 1, but I can't remember if this is the same account, or I made a new one when I got Sims 2.

Sure he could.  I would love for him to screw up and put something like that, and watch the reaction of the foolish sheeple over there.

Sherrie, I think you just made the understatement of the year there.  Little old Thomas, sounded like he was about to lose it there a couple of times.

Furthermore, there was absolutely nothing in my post that said anything about paysites, period. The only reference I made to anything being illegal was the posting of confidential information. There was nothing in my post to identify me as a pirate, or member of PMBD. And he couldn't have recognized my username from here (or anywhere else), because it is different. In fact, TSR is the only place I still use that username.

Ok, copy and paste:

Quote
Quoting Steve Bonham 8 Oct. 2008:
Quote
The information which you refer to was part of a private, internal discussion within TSR. It is unfortunate that one disgruntled (supposedly loyal) member of the team would take such action after they turned their back on us. They did this anonymously and is clearly a cowardly act towards us, but the information is very basic. Those that wish to twist this into the free distribution of member addresses and credit card details are clearly desperate to stir up trouble as they are totally inaccurate. The 5 names of people that have been caught trying to bring TSR down and siding with the pirates get no sympathy from us and are probably seeking revenge for their banning. That's hardly free distribution of all member details (it was 5 names). Judge for yourself.
(bold added by me for emphasis)

Regardless of how many real names were shared or in what forum (private or public), the sharing of confidential information is illegal. The reason given for sharing such information is immaterial. It is still illegal, and TSR could face a lawsuit over this if the injured parties felt inclined. Whether such a lawsuit would succeed in winning damages is debatable, but the fact that grounds exist for such a lawsuit should give every forum member and subscriber pause. Do you really want to be a member of a forum, and support such a forum with your hard earned money, when it can be proven that said forum, feeling threatened by criticism from other members of the Simming community, resorts to illegally sharing confidential information?

As for forum members who feel that "TSR is great" and supplies a needed service, all I can say is that you consider whether the risk is worth the service, particularly in light of the fact that there are many sites offering great Sims 2 downloads, and that the majority of the best ones offer as good or better downloads completely free of charge.

I didn't copy Thomass' reply to that, but it was on the order that I should stop suggesting that average subscribers should fear that their own information was unsafe. The next person who responded said something along the lines that oh, wow, sharing anyone's real name was just so irresponsible. My post was number 18. I decided to respond to good ole Tom's justification, and when I hit the submit button it can up comments closed. I noticed that there were now 24 comments though. I think I stirred up the membership.

I wasnīt teased, I was attacked but not by MATYīs people, by people who goes to other boards where I go, knows me and had particular interest in attack me. Other people from MATY didnīt know this and were used by these bad people. I said I am a not english speaker and some of them stopped but others posted something like "itīs a poor excuse". I ended stop to posting because I knew that those who were attacking me had a hidden agenda and that the others didnīt know this. I have few posts at MATY and they have no idea who I am and how long Iīve been in this community so I wasnīt annoyed with them. I love MATY and the chaotic enviroment that reigns there. I just couldnīt managed to be accepted there and I blame my lack of language skills, to be honest.
About the username, I decided to not use my regular username here because of those who can be lurking and we donīt know. I thought it could be more useful. Itīs not the first time I have an account here, I think my old one was deleted for not being active. I* donīt think I ever posted with the old username here. But is really easy to guess who I am reading the GOS thread and that username is the username I use all the time ;)

kenmtl, you made me smile, thanks for that :)
I followed your advice and Iīm lurking around. Iīve been reading a lot of threads.

dragonarts, I was reading that thread at GOS about TSR right now. I had no chance to post at TSR, unfortunatelly. I think the most important thing is keep spreading the news. People need to know, more people know, more they will look ugly.

Titan, I read all screenshots posted here and at GOS. I think Thomas is losing the control, this is good. Sometimes I miss some "spread the word" tactic like post at other boards what is going on at TSR. I can think about a couple boards where spreading this info can cause some comotion. I will find a good way to do this.

Hmm, my comment seems to have been deleted. I'm not particularly surprised. It was right before tessieroo's. When Thomass says "Da mama, I would appreciate if you would stop suggesting...", that was to me. That's my screen name over there. Has been since March 10, 2005. I can't remember what it was before that. I lost my password and had to make a new account, since I'd also changed email accounts since I created the first account. This comment was the first I'd ever posted over there however. When I joined, I didn't know anything about the joys of actually saying something on forums.  Guess I thought the only people who could post comments were the creators. Then I found MTS2, and no longer went to TSR.

I still have a couple more of those to go through, and see if there was anyone else I got, before Steve or Thomas deleted them.  Steve did the announcement and tried modding it, and then Thomas jumped in and pretty well lost it after that.  I guess, Steve underestimated how much reaction, he was really going to get for that post.  What a pair of idiots those two really are.  ::)

I'm really pleased you guys were able to get screencaps.  As much as I love seeing TSR get butthurt by pirates, I was particularly glad when I saw ordinary members of TSR react with dismay rather than slurping up more Kool-Aid.  Asshats might claim they're not going anywhere, but every new incident chips away at their base.   :D

Going back to an older post, I think it's truly awesome that you told SimFreaks where to stick it when they tried to buy your creations. Hail Dani, a true old school pirate! your bullshit never ceases to amaze me, dani. I guess you think people forget what REALLY  happened at SimFreaks just before and when they went pay --  or, for that matter, what REALLY happened at MATY, you ignorant LYING snarling bitch.  I know your history -- ALL of it, ALL of the shit that you devised to defend your inferior creations.   Let's set the record straight, shall we?
FIRST. the truth about Simfreaks:  Who can ever forget that broken, ugly Colonel Mustard bed that  you offered as your contribution to their Clue Theme?  That's what got you thrown out of Simfreaks, you LIAR.  You never quit.  You were fired because you couldn't...er... cut the mustard, lmao!  Since Simfreaks had something called STANDARDS, just like MTS2 has, your crap was plainly unacceptable.  Yup, I DO know the whole story. I was there, unlike this audience who seems to want to think that you're some queen of fighting paysites. What a laugh!  I remember you boasting back then that you --yes, YOU -- were going to make a whole lot of money with SimFreaks.  Funny how that backfired, hey?  Geez, you discovered that Heather expected some quality -- like a bed that wasn't broken.   You were asked to fix it, and you couldn't.  That damned transmogrifier-- you just couldn't get a handle on it.  When you got thrown out of there, you went to yet ANOTHER paysite to SELL your crap.  Yes she did, folks.  But she didn't know that it was being run by a scam artist (her 'friend' Lucky) whose intent was to take all the money the site made. Poor, poor little dani.  Out of luck (and money) again.

Hope this is making you feel REALLY good.  I like the truth.

SECOND:  after having your tender feelings hurt (and your boundless ego) by Heather's rejection,  you went to some RANT forum, TGBS) to undermine her, and decided to take on paysites while you were at it.  Despite the fact that you went on to yet another PAYSITE. Hypocrite.

THIRD:  Some of us know the REAL reason why you disappeared from Sims Forums for several years and hid yourself.  You were run out of town, babe!  You trashed everybody you knew, betrayed your few supporters, and eventually all those folks at TGBS figured you out.  You were made THE NUMBER 1 laughing stock of the Sims web.  Deserved?  YES.

FOURTH:  Go back and read that thread at MATY, you delusional bitch.  It didn't take them long to figure out how mean and rotten you really are. You couldn't fool those folks and make them suck your ugly butt, could you?  No dani, it wasn't your language ability that was faulted at MATY -- it was what you said and clearly MEANT.  Then the funny little 'trick' you pulled -- REALLY!  Creating another username to go in and defend youself and take a few cheap shots at some people you seem to be so good at hating.

Keep this up, danidramequeen, and you're going to end up exactly where you were 3,4,5 years ago -- hiding your head so deep in the sand that you're going to wish no one ever knew your name.  Of course, you might make the SAME mistake all over again a few years down the road.  Namely, coming back to the popular forums using the SAME username.  Thinking nobody will remember your twisted history.  You're one troubled lady, let me tell you.   When things go against you in English-speaking forums, you blame your poor English.  Say you're misunderstood.  When it becomes clear that it's the distorted message you're putting out there that's the REAL problem, then you hand out your hankies and cry to everyone that you just can't help yourself because, after all, you're a self-confessed manic depressive that refuses meds.   Go get some pills -- maybe they'll help you see the real world beyond your warped ego.   o
And by the way, not everything in the world of Sims and forums is about YOU.   Just a friendly reminder.

Maty link? I'm interested in reading that. Any other links? You are obviously very pissed off. Maybe if you calmed down a bit and showed some proof you wouldn't look like you're just hating on dani.

ETA: Simfreaks = quality?  :D I'm still laughing.

Simfreaks quality went out the window when they went pay.  And I really wonder why I gave them any money to get it, when I -do- play my sims1 games.

Title: Re: Good morning, please check here

I demand proof before we go down this little merry road. Although something tells me Shigayama is mentally unstable and rabidly faithful to Sim Freaks. So you know  ::)
Unfortunately I don't give a shit about a paysite that kicks out members due to their "lack of talent" when it feels so dangerously to "pot calling the kettle black". It is detrimental to the community to treat cc as a means to make a buck, look at all the division it causes. Now we are talking about quality "being good enough to pay for" who makes such assumptions? Why isn't it "being good enough to share"?

This economic mentality always shifts from the law. The law is, it's your game kids, create custom content and share the delights. The fuck tards charging you for it, are breaking that law.
You are right to sit with your friends and talk about making some peach tiles to go with your peach kitchen. If other prefer purple, make that too! The freedom of customisation and creativity is what Will Wright was aiming for.
All this talk about money soils such spontaneity and causes make creators to feel bored, to provide a "pay" standard. Fuck that. Create and share. It's the way it's supposed to be.

Title: Re: Good morning, please check here

Well, but see here - my current philosophy is, if its pay, its NOT good enough to be in my game.  Which while its not entirely the case, if someone is charging for it, I don't want it.  I support the free simmers out there.

Oh yay, let me go dig up some zombie drama that isn't related to paysites. First I have to get a root canal though, it sounds more fun.

My god. Changing one's mind is now lying? Seeing the light and moving on is lying? Take your vendetta up with her elsewhere.

I agree with Neriana. Zombie drama = Do not want.

It's so funny how people sign up just to piss everyone here off. Great. Come, attempt drama, fail, leave. The same pattern, every time. Get some creativity! And will someone please answer my question?

Would this happen to be the same danicast as the one at GoS?

Yes, I think she mentioned she's from GOS. I'm too lazy to look for the evidence.

I'm pretty sure it is. It's not a common handle, I don't think, and the posting style is similar. She's pretty cool at GoS, and she seems to be contributing positively here, so I'm not really inclined to care that she didn't fit in at MATY. Here's a link (http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/smf/index.php/topic,11437.0.html) to what shigayama is talking about. I don't find it particularly incriminating; she just acted like a bit of a noob is all.

Put up the proof or shut up. It's already been said, but wanted to say it bluntly. And if you don't like it, don't let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

That's not the point.  This is about lying, not about paysites. Hell, who doesn't HATE paysites?  Dani would've happily given her soul to be a part of Simfreaks when it went pay -- and her 2nd PAYsite, Simfever, too.

The thread at MATY is about BlueSoup.  I'm sure you can find it using her username danicast, if you're really interested in seeing for yourselves.

If it's really important for you to throw around accusations and have people believe them, you ought to bring some proof with you.  Dig up the threads yourself and post links, don't send us on the hunt.

You might be wrong, you might be right, but from my POV, you've come charging in here, creating an account for the sole purpose of talking shit about another member.  A member who has been trying hard to fit in and follow the rules.  Guess where my sympathies lie right now?

If it was important enough for you to create a user name and talk shit, it's important enough to spend a little time digging up the threads.

Dear shigayama, I have all mails. All of them in my backups. With all interesting informations. IPīs, names, server routes, everything. I can take screenshots also, as Coconut is doing, I know how to do it. The difference will be I have no reasons to blur any real names because according brazilian laws a person can public post something that it was sent by eletronic mail if this person is the recipient. Donīt make me digg them up. Or maybe, this is exactly what you want, donīt you?
Hm. That could be interesting. I wonder if brazilian newspaper or brazilian EA also would be interested in a brazilian designer who is being attacked by a paysite that exploits gaming users because she didnīt sold herlself and respected copyright laws. You know, brazilian press have a curious tendency to love to cause comotion if we use the expression "greedy capitalists trying to intimidate a brazilian citizenship". I could write a book. It could become a movie. I wonder how much the cause against paysites could be promoted with this.

As a bipolar person I consider the expression "take your medications" a severe ofense, like racist or homophobic coments. Interesting, if you have so many "true" informations about me how you donīt know this? All my friends know, several people in several boards know, I never hided this fact. I openly talk about because people with dysfunctions can actually have a very good life.  Hm. I donīt think you would understand this, whoever you are.

Oh, BTW my bed wasnīt borked. I released that bed in my yahoo group and I made moar five animated beds hacked with adult animations after that. All file sharing. I still get thanks mails for these beds till today.

Have a nice day, dahling, donīt let the bugs bite, mīokay?  :-*

Yes, I am danicast at GOS. I share my TS2 creations in several places: GOS, my personal site, Simvention, N99 Paks hosted by jfade.
I am file sharing. I have high standards for all I make and people usually are truly happy downloading my stuff. And yes, I posted at the Blousoup thread at MATY and I was attacked by someone from N99 board (a board I left due disagreements about MATY, PMDB and other file sharing sites) who have interest in make me look ugly. I was PMed by someone from MATY telling me to not fall on that because it was a trap, because that person was clearly trying to make me look bad. I still have that PM saved in my inbox. Ican take a screenshot of that also.

Maybe someone would like to check the quality?

Thank you guys  ;D
Iīm happy you like my sims stuff. Itīs a pleasure to me to share. I can make, why not to share?

I decided to shuddup at MATY because I got into the conclusion that I am still unable to understand english enough to not be caught in tricks when people are really trying to make tricks. I speak much more english now than eight years ago, for sure, but still is not enough. A lot of people praises my english but there is a bareer that is really complicated to trespass, mostly about idiomatic expressions, slangs and complexes structures. Maybe someday :)

Thank you for the advice, BlackDwarf. I didnīt come here to digg an old story (unless, of course, itīs useful to destroy one moar paysite), I came here to try to help if I can. But I mean it, I really have all backups including an email where Kate, one of Simfreaks creators at that time wrote me saying that I was "deliberating misleading Heather". I never forgot that because at that time I didnīt know what "misleading" meant. Kate was accusing me to mislead HJeather to make money offers to me. She was right, it was exatly what I was doing. I answered to her that I wanted to see how far Heather was willed to go and I discovered. These are the messages that I posted at the Good, the Bad and the Rant at that time with a friends help. Heather wasnīt pleased as her minions. It seems that eight years later, they are not still pleased... and I still have all that material, if is necessary.

Well, you said there were people around that chased you off from MATY for old grudges, and boy - you weren't joking.   :D shigayama - you've picked the wrong place - we don't care. She's free and sharing, and has nothing good to say about SimFreaks, and that's why we like her.

I lurked over her post at the time it was posted in that BlueSoup and I don't see how asking what it was about was some bizarre indication of how she's secretly a paysite lover.  You've obviously got a hardon for fucking her up - not going to work here pal - fuck off.

Thank you. I really appreciate all this support. I am used to deal with these people since I left Simfreaks and demanded that my stuff would be removed.

About Simfever, I have one thing to say - and surprise, this one is easy to prove! - Lucky started Simfever as a free site and this is when I joined. Some months ago a paysite talk started. I gave him my honest opinion and some months later the site was closed. All that is left is the geocities site and the yahoo group:

http://www.geocities.com/luckyboinyc/index1.htm

From this page:
http://www.lotsofsimslots.com/links.html

Please note this posted at that page:
http://www.lotsofsimslots.com/links.html
I have no idea who owns this site, I just googled my username and the expression "file sharing".

Dani's items are File Share Friendly so go to the group and join. http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group

The main reason I never changed my username is because I never had anything to hide.

These are some itens previously posted at Simfreaks that are still available untill today at Simfever yahoo group:

Crappy stuff, indeed.
And these are some itens that Simfreaks never had:

The gazebo is a rug and the hoit tub have transparent water and special animations I made myself.

All files are still up at Simfever yahoogroups if someone would like to download.  ;D
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/SimFever/
They are still file-sharing and free to recolor. And all of them works prefectly :)

I canīt stand someone bashing Lucky like this because he was one of the persons who most supported me against Simfreaks. Itīs unfair. He was one of my best friends and I still talk to him from time to time. Friendship is a valuable thing for me.
For now, Iīm done.

Yeah, but you manage to have a guttermouth, yet still show intelligence.  I live in a city where intelligence is not one of the strong suits.  (when I moved to here, my father commented that I raised the average IQ in both this place and the place I was leaving *snort*)  There is a lot of swearing, but it's never very clever.   It's like, "You fucking fuck.  Shut the fuck up."   But when you swear?  It looks smart.

:-* Thank you that's sweet. I do it because I like it, it's very Australian, and I disagree strongly with the premise that there are certain words you shouldn't use because they're vulgar/not ladylike. There are far worse things to call someone or say to someone than swears - my loving husband called me (jokingly) a horrible dog - that felt worse than any swears.

Dani, not all Australians use the word 'bloke', these days.  Its a somewhat archaic word.  I grew up in rural Australia, and I'm from a Anglo-Australian background (aka. Aussie or Skip).  And I don't use the word 'blokes', nor do any member of my family.  Mates, yes.  'Bloody hell!', yep.  'Bugger' on occasion.  'Wanker', all the time (we had a few driving round in my old neighbourhood too.  But not 'Bloke'.  Some people use it, I guess

Yeah "bloke" goes in the unused bin along with "coppah" and "fair dinkum", "You beauty", "sheila" and "mongrel". I honestly don't hear those words any more. Although I am sure someone out there still uses them. (I'm from Sydney city) I hear "mate" and "she'll be right" all the time though. Oh and even I say "G'Day" :D

Bugger comes from England doesn't it? I hear it all the time too. Oh and I say "Bloody" all the time, how could I bloody forget!?!?!

Everybody is mate however, all my friends are mate, anyone I can't remember the name of is "old mate"

I have never used "G'Day" or "fair dinkum"  I should use them with the next lot of tourists that come through here :D

I think "bloke" is more used by well, blokes.  It was severely overused by Kevin Bloody Wilson, and now most women hate it, I think. I use wanker a lot.  I use mate all the time, but not so much in text mediums, as I don't want to sound like I'm condescending or being over familiar, as I normally don't wear a badge saying "I'm an Aussie, it's nothing personal".   :D I use bugger (which is from England) and bloody, and I love using prat.  :)

Dani prob doesn't even know who this is under this name. However, I can tell you dani is one of the nicest people I have encountered in the Sims Community and that to me is saying a lot about her. Same here.  I have a weird accent - I sort of camelean speech patterns and a tiny bit gets stuck.  I've lived in Georgia forever now, but spent my early childhood living in Europe, in West Germany.  Most of my TV watching has been british programs, with a bit of australian comedy thrown in... And my writing is a liberal mix of american and british spelling, which has gotten me in a few classes, like when my music teacher turned out to have a british ex.  Oops.  Because you write a lot of papers for college music classes [ was music history ]

So, I use Bloody alot because I do try to avoid using overt swears, especially around other people's kids.  Mine could care, their swears consist of hssst and phitttt.

Have any of you ever lived for a long time in another country? I'm wondering how much slang habits change if you live somewhere else. I have a professor who's Australian, and he curses up a storm when he's speaking freely (i.e. one-on-one, not in lectures, obviously) but it's almost all American or at least generic English-language curses. I've heard him say "bloody" once, and that's it. (He also calls his friends "mates".) The rest of his curses are pretty normal for Americans: he calls people "assholes" if they're "full of shit", he wonders "what the fuck" people are thinking, and he calls people on their "bullshit" (or "bullcrap"). Do slang habits change to fit the country you're in?

You guys ever wonder what a certain accent sounds like to another accent?

Like, the scottish accent sounds like a harsher version of the irish accent, but to another harsh accent (like russian maybe) does it sound harsh, or does it sound normal in tone?

Do people with spainish accents think the canadian accent sounds slow (like americans tend to)?
Do german accents think that english accents sound flat, and if so, do they think the american accent is even flatter than it is?

My head hurts now.

I've an American, and I've never thought the Canadian accent is slow, or even much of an accent. I think certain Southern accents, the more "refined" Virginian and Georgian ones, sound pretty slow. I've never thought of Russian or Scottish accents as harsh, either. German accents, and the German language itself do sound extremely harsh to me.

I'm from Michigan, so I just sound like an American news anchor who extends her "a"s sometimes :P.

Coming out of my lurking stage - so don't hit me :)

Anyway, I am a German living in America (Michigan) for six years now. It's actually funny for me when I hear other Germans speak English as it sounds very harsh even to me. Funny thing is I don't think I have an accent anymore but most people still hear it thinking I am anything from British to Canadian or Australian.

And by the way, the English accent doesn't sound flat to me. My family always jokes that Americans talk like they have a hot potato in their mouths though!

Yep, born and bred Texan.  I wasn't raised in what I consider the traditional Texan home though.  My father was raised in Michigan (and his father was Pennsylvanian) and my mother, although she was born in Texas, lived in California for the first 12 years of her life.  She claims it didn't affect her but I think she's the most progressive thinker in her family.  She really instilled the love of reading books and learning in me.

I live in surburbia and watch too much tv so my accent is pretty light.  You can especially hear it though when I whine or say certain words.

Meijer! I miss Meijer. Not as much as I miss the lakes or other natural stuff, but so many times I've wanted to go grocery shopping or buy a bike or a goldfish at 2 AM, and what can I do? Just sit home and cry that I'm stuck in the penis of America, that's what.

Just about everyone down here is from Michigan, though, it seems, so there's no danger of my losing my accent. I refuse to say my ending "t"s!

I've never heard "davenport" for couch though. And it's couch, not sofa. Also pop, not soda.

My husband's from Cumbria, which lies sort of in between Scotland and Ireland, so he sounds a lot of his words in a similar way.  (English accents are sooo varied.  From what my husband has been teaching me, you can pick where an Englishperson comes from from their accent.  We always hang it on him about his accent, (is, the oo in cook sounds more like the oo in mood.  And the 'u' sounds are more like 'oo' in cook than an 'uh' sound, so butter and pub, sounds like 'booter' and 'poob'.  He always insists that he is speaking proper English.

I sometimes get caught up with a Midwestern accent, although I'm mostly a generic American kind of accent. There are times when I'm at work, though, that I'll start sounding like a milder version of Kirsten Dunst in "Drop Dead Gorgeous" because I have to yell across the cafe when a drink is done "George, your half calf soy vanilla latte is on the bar". It's when "bar" comes out of my mouth that my coworkers (who seem to mostly be from SoCal and Florida) start to make fun of me.

Silly Edit:

I HATE the word "hecka". If you're gonna use that slang, go all the way and say "hella" god damnit. -_-  Also, I get made fun of for saying pop instead of soda, sack instead of bag. As my ex used to tell me, if you walk out of a grocery store holding your sack, you're gonna get a few looks. :D

I've an American, and I've never thought the Canadian accent is slow, or even much of an accent.

Depends on where you're from in Canada, of course. Where I'm from everyone has an accent that is largely indistinguishable from a Pacific US one; however head over to Newfoundland, Nova Scotia or Quebec (for the francophones there at least) and voices/accents are likely going to sound much different. You may be referring to that generic, slow, stereotypical accent that gets stuck on to Canadians for laughs (although Canadians do it too as a joke; see "Bob and Doug MacKenzie"). That accent is more common back East, and is not anywhere near as common as is popularly thought.

What's so funny is people watching me knit think I'm Norwegian too.  That's kind of neat, I think overall, Scandinavians are a cool lot.  As for the New England accent, one of the people I work with sounds like he's on NPR, because he struggles to hide his accent, but he showed it off one evening and I think its a nice accent.  Accents keep people from being boring to listen to :)

Perhaps I'm simply not "USian" (as opposed to 'worldly') enough, but some of the phrases I see nothing wrong with using them or how they say we pronounce them. Why is "you guys" weird? ??? And I NEVER pronounce it "melk" or "ayeggs" for milk and eggs. It makes me twitch when I hear people say it that way...

And yeah, it sucks here... badly. The fiance-type (I need to find a shorthand way to refer to him... something awesome like "Mr Coolington" like cala has for her husband, but not as boring as "boyfriend" or whatever) and I are both struggling looking for jobs. I have something temporary that ends at the end of the month (sigh), and his degree doesn't lend itself to jobs around here... we don't have many nuclear plants. :p We've been looking to relocate elsewhere, but it's hard since we want, apparently, totally different things. We wanted west coast, I wanted east; he likes HOT weather, I prefer cooler; etc. I'm convinced we're going to get jobs offered to us simultaneously on opposite ends of the country and one of us is going to have to turn it down. Have any of you guys had any experience with this sort of situation? I would like some advice.

Mother - half southern Irish, half Northern Irish; Dad - half Northern Irish, half Jamaican. Me born in London and grew up with a strong cockney accent mixed with Jamaican (I was born within the sound of bow bells so technically am true cockney ;) ), live in Dorset which has a what would be is referred to as an "oh ah" accent here in the UK, it's a similar accent to the Cornish or Devon/Somerset accents. For example Dorset is pronounced Darrset. And I have a mixture of all the accents which is so messed up  ;D  My other half is Jamaican and speaks only in Jamaican patois with a thick Jamaican accent.  My dad speaks Iyaric so I have picked that up as well. I often get laughed at because certain words I say come out either broad Irish/broad Dorset/broad Jamaican/broad London depending on the word and I can end up being broad in each accent across the course of one sentence lol  Cussing is easy - I cuss Jamaican  ;D

Druid I think the nearest I have come to your situation is that we are house hunting in Jamaica currently, the other half intends to go back there with the next 2/3 years and as I have dual nationality (Irish/Jamaican), my son has dual nationality (British/Jamaican) we will emigrate when he does and go with him but he comes from Montego Bay, my Dad lives just outside Kingston so we want to live on opposite sides of the Island!  We did find a house we compromised on, up in the blue mountains a few weeks ago, I was happy because it was only 30 miles outside of Kingston and he just fell in love with the house.  Unfortunately Hurricane Gustav as was put paid to those plans by deciding to touch down right in the front yard destroying the entire property  :-\  So now we are back to arguing which side of the island we are going to live on! LOL

I love accents though but I suck at recognising them.  Personally I don't think the Scottish and Irish accents sound in any way the same but I like both of them.  I do tend to prefer the harsher Belfast accent but that's more a roots thing and I could seriously listen to the soft Southern Irish lilt all day (my late husband was Southern Irish).  I read an article on yahoo yesterday that was saying that local dialects in the UK are dying out and that people in the UK tend to be able to recognise/understand/translate more foreign words that they do dialect from other parts of the country.

Alright, Occa is country Australian, working Aussies who love drawling their words, when they bother to say anything. This example is of a modern occa accent (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fs_-DKUimeo), which is not as strong as it is with the older generation.

Bogan is different, that is Kath and Kim (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_Hm6qr8qj8). Or Bogan Pride (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlhU8GdAGe8). It's what we consider "white trash" here.

I love accents and am halfway decent at figuring them out.  My first day of Geology, after class, I went up to my professor and asked him what part of London he was from - I think I startled him, since most americans can at most ask what part of England, and half the time, they're asking someone from Australia or New Zealand.

edit: And we're trying to move to illinois - figure Chicago is a good compromise since I -really- don't want to move to Alaska, and everyone else are such polar bears and hate hot georgia weather.  And honestly, I hat both the heat and the cold with no snow thing.

FIRST. the truth about Simfreaks:  Who can ever forget that broken, ugly Colonel Mustard bed that  you offered as your contribution to their Clue Theme?

Everyone, meet iamsleepycat.  As for #4, Dani didn't do another ID to support herself.  I did. Some of you asshats just assume only one person in the world can speak another language.  Hi, Dani!

Well, just be warned that the weather is fucking up again. It's wetter and cooler than normal for this time of year, so I'm thinking of trading in the fur and the paw pads for feathers and webbed feet and then taking myself south for the winter. Fuck the cold and snow!

Sleepycat thinks sickoflyingdouches is some sort of second register that I made at MATY but sickoflyingdouches is not me, itīs another person - who now I believe is Mary_Read who can speak portuguese, as myself.
There are a lot of brazilian in sims community, just they donīt speak portuguese in these boards because makes no sense.
Sleepycat have a problem with me because she broke some rules at N99 and I am one of the persons who reminded her that N99 have different rules than MATY or other boards. She was PMed by the admins because of that and she hates me just because of this.  ::)

You know, you gave me an opportunity to say something.
I never expected any kind of unanimity about me. To be honest, Iīm happy that there are so many people who like my creations and I made some great friends around the sims community and this also makes me happy. I know I have a lot of haters, something just happened these days coming from someone who hates me. I donīt care who hates me or why. In most cases is people who donīt understand what Iīm saying or doing or people who are unable to accept that people have different opinions.
I know why sleepycat hates me and is a question related to inteen. I was honest about what I think about inteen and she got offended and started to PM me with a bunch of hate words and trying to justify herself. I donīt want people trying to justify themselves to be haters or to do anything with their games. I am entitled to have my own opinions and to express them.

So is simple:

1. Iīm file sharing and I detest paysites. I am unable to understand creators who agreed with paysites schemes because most of paysites owners are using these creators to make a lot of money and even when they pay these creators, trust me, is just small money compared with the ammount that paysite owners make. These creators are illuded. I wish all these creators could understand this and how wrong is to use a game that dont belong to them to make money. How rong and sad is to charge money from kids who just want to imporve their games. I said this thousand times before.

2. I know as a fact proved by some "secret" boards that were found that inteen is used as a pedophile thing. One of those pedophile boards were found by N99 people. I stated this once and now sleepycat hunts me around trying to make people believe I am a detestable person because I said that inteen is used by pedophiles and that in my country if an adult who deal with children (as a teacher as example) was found with inteen installed probably the authorities will start a investigation to check what a heck this person was doing. She got offended, Iīm sorry, it wasnīt directed to her but she took this way. Now I have a hater/stalker. I can live with this, I donīt fucking care what she thinks about me.

3. I never lied. I can be confusing speaking in english sometimes, specially eight years ago when all that mess envolving Simfreaks happened because english is my second language and I am not a Shakespeare, I speak pretty bad. I canīt fight stuff like "oh, you said you was improving some textures so this means you think the textures were crappy at first place so this means you are criticizing who make the textures". No, it is not what I meant. But sometimes when you have a second language you donīt know the better words to use to express what you think. So maybe I should have say "I am reworking those textures" but sometimes I donīt know the best way to say something.

4. I disagreed with some policies that happens in some sites as a creator. My points about sims creations are simple: itīs a game, we are here to enjoy the game, enjoy creating stuff and enjoy sharing stuff. I dislike any site policy that makes the creators feels like shit because their policy - with particular emphasis in paysites because I never saw a paysite with a decent policy toi creators, they are just greedy. I donīt like cliques also, because they are unfair. See TSR policy as example, itīs the worst of all words, cliqueish, stimulating competition between creators, making some creators feel like shit and exploring these people to make profit.

5. No, I am not going to accept some site policy just because is a free site. I saw very nasty people in this community in all these years even in free sites. All paysites are evil but some free sites are not nice enough too, they do horrible things to their colaborators. I understand why here at PMBD the motto is to protect free sites at any cost because I am also against paysites and I want all of them destroyed. But I think there are some things that people should not accept no matter what site is. I know a lot of nice creators who gave up because they were misthreated and I donīt believe in misthreat any kind of person. I think is wrong. I donīt want free creators quitting.

6. I donīt understand why not everybody is file-sharing. I donīt understand restrictive policies like "you canīt use part of textures, of meshes blablabla because these are MY copyrights". I think those who uses these policies wants some kind of control that is impossible in the internet. I think this kind of policy is the first step to fall in the dark side of paysites. I saw a lot of people use as argument in the past that "paysites protects YOUR copyrights better". Itīs a fallacy. PMBD is a living proof. If someone is so worried about "copyrights" they should read the game EULA again. Itīs all EAxis copyruights, when you click at bodyshope agreement you agreed that everything belongs to EAxis.

7. If a creator are not here for the pleasure of making something that will make downloaders happy and donīt feel happy in share then itīs in the wrong hobby. Yes, the sims is a hobby. It will not fullfill life aspirations. If a person wants to be recognized as creative, awesome designer and so, go to be a designer. There are plenty of jobs in game industry, game design is valuated. Make stuff for the sims is a hobby, period.

8. Yes, I am an old bitch. Live with. I wonīt ask apologies for what I think. I like diversity of opinions and I think conversation is the key to also make people change minds. I am a person who is always open to change my mind if the person who is talking to me uses rational and good arguments. I wonīt allow people just call me names. I wonīt give up from sims community just because some people read pieces of what I said and decide to be judgemental about me. People who really knows me knows better.

Hey, your English is just fine. I think people should be tarred and feathered when they criticize people who aren't native English speakers.

I agree with the stuff about restrictive policies. You can't police politeness on the internet and what do people expect when they post things for the world? It feels like they are purposefully digging up drama with strict policies because there is no way to enforce them. I know people say, "They're the creators and their opinions should be respected," but it all has to be left up to the honor system.

And I've always found Inteen to be rather tactless and disturbing myself. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Having had to do tarot readings for people where we did not share a common language [ though the husband of the one guy did speak english better than my spanish ], I know it can be hard to find the right words.  Heck, I suppose I count as a native speaker of english and I have a hard time sometimes, finding the right words.

People need to learn to not get all upset about words - our language is not entirely spoken - there is inflection, body language - all a part of it.  Smilies kind of help, and someone who is good at writing can sometimes get across their mood with just words, but its an imperfect media.

Thank yopu ooglafina. Trust me, inteen is misused in several places.

Soggy there is something called "intention". There are two ways to interpreter people, with good intentions or in a malicious way, seeking for hidden bad intentions. Itīs impossible to deal with people who seek malicious intentions in everything someone says. Itīs a lost cause.

Okay this is getting dumb. Dani has been perfectly well behaved here. If you want to bash shit on her, then take it to pm or another forum. We are about destroying paysites, not destroying our members.

And maybe you should learn how to lurk before starting fights. Dani has already stated this thousands of times! Hell I believe it is even at GOS in their Sim Secret thread as well.  ::)

I don't know what all you new/silent posters are hoping to prove - that as she stated earlier, there are people willing to chase her down and pick fights with her - if so, bang up job! I believe now she's not paranoid, but pursued by determined bitter people who like nothing better than to follow her around and pick on her. We complain about Atwat - you guys are just as bad - can't even leave her in peace in a forum you're not interested in. What exactly, apart from driving daniyagami away on the sheer principle that you don't like her for what she's done on other forums not here, are you hoping to help us with today?

I don't care if it's old fight or not - it's completely irrelevant - it didn't happen here and it didn't happen now. She's free, she's sharing, and she has nothing good to say about paysites - that's what we require.

I donīt have problems with any person, itīs the opposite, I enjoy immensely people from all places. I have sims friends from US, England, Australia, Sueden, Germany, France. I love diversity.

What bothers me a little bit is why people donīt contact me directly (there are several ways, I go to several boards) and donīt talk to me directly if they have any problem with me. I always answer to any person with politeness and I always try to work around any kind of issue even if contradicts my beliefs. Iīm not radical and I try to understand everyone the best I can. I donīt understand why some people thinks the best way to deal with me is public attack on boards. It is not. It makes me to fight and I am a good fighter. I learnt a lot in these years.

Also I donīt understand what some people want from me.  If someone wants me to appreciate paysites, itīs a lost cause. I detest paysites.

If someone wants me to stop to make sims stuff is another lost cause. I make sims stuff because I enjoy, itīs my hobby. I had problems with my sites and yahoogroups (I suffered a DDoS attack once, my site was hacked six months ago what caused me some money loss but I managed to put it up again and some of my yahoo groups were reported and deleted for "copyright violation" because they had sims files posted, can you believe?) but I never gave up. Iīm not a quitter.

I enjoy the game and to share my stuff. I donīt really feel bothered if some people thinks my stuff are crap. The downloaders likes my stuff and is what matters to me. You canīt please everybody all the time, anyway.

tipsywoozy I donīt know who you are. I have no idea what are you talking about but if you would like to have a conversation, Iīm open to this.

OK, I agree with dani in many ways. You just cant stop someone from spreading the wealth, and you shouldnt try. Point is if you give it freely to use, let them use it. You cant force politeness and make them give you credit. If it's something you've "paid" for, I say you own it and can do what you want with it. I buy bananas, dont tell me what I can and cant do withem!
As for MTS2, they are stuck up, bossy and dont care about any but their pets. And no I wasnt rejected there. I happen to have many things there. Dani, you go girl. Now everyone play nice cause you know who loves when we fight amongst ourselves.

I completely agree. If you pay for something you own it and can do what you like with it. Paysites are retarded period. When I buy a new dress the store owners don't say I can't lend it to my friend and if I do they will harass me and try to ruin me. It's pathetic.

Uh... first you insult MTS2, the biggest free site around, then you order everyone else to "play nice".

Also, I could not care less what jollies idiots may get from my agreeing or disagreeing with anyone. They are idiots. They do not count. If we all agreed to "play nice" and always agree, then we'd be some kind of twisted hive mind, with Pescado as the queen bee. DO NOT WANT.

What?.... And here i thought Pes was the Queen Bee. You mean he isn't? (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v451/Witchboy/Smileys%20Ect/Everyday/lol.gif)

As for MTS2, they are stuck up, bossy and dont care about any but their pets. And no I wasnt rejected there. I happen to have many things there. Dani, you go girl. Now everyone play nice cause you know who loves when we fight amongst ourselves.

Uh... first you insult MTS2, the biggest free site around, then you order everyone else to "play nice".

Without wanting to sound like a hive mind, I agree.  Not to mention, making paysites happy because we fight is the lamest reason for being nice to each other I've ever heard.  Moar fight doesn't last particular long here, and even if it does, saccarine sweet niceness is the domain of TSR - not here.  That's why those privy to sensitive PMBD information aren't helping TSR and coconut is helping us.

I could however, resort to calling Pescado Queenie.  :D

Yeah, it wouldn't surprise me to hear that he has a pair of those translucent platform stilettos strippers wear sitting in his wardrobe somewhere :D

Sorry, if I offended. Where I come from, when people are involved in bickering amongst themselves while participating in a group type of activity, whether it is business or pirating and pay site destroying, play nice is a way of saying "quite dicking around and get back to work". Trust me it isnt sugary sweet at all. Gawd - who would ever put PMBD and sweet in the same sentence?

Oh that brain imprint, it burns!  :D Someone called Queenie is bound to have something frilly. :P

Thing is most of us here are clear on our purpose and able multitaskers. I can destroy paysites and engage in MOAR FIGHT at the same time.  All of the pirates are able to do so too - I've yet to see one try for FA on the basis of a fight here, or buy a year's subscription while in a fight here.  It's relatively easy to do both. In fact, MOAR FIGHT can involve sticking it to fellow pirates - put them in the meatslab dress (available from the booty) and take a picture of your fellow pirate and torture them all afternoon - the two combine for extra awesome paysite fighting power.

I'm sure I've pissed off people here, and they downloaded a buttload of Atwat, stuck me in the middle and had a good old time making me live in it.  So long as they didn't buy it, they are still "on message".

Some of the pirates that anger others wind up with their self-sim married to Pescado. How's that for an image of mental torture? :D

Right there is the main reason I haven't made a self-sim...and never will.

Chicken! I'm about to come up with another version of my own, to reflect some changes and to be honest, I don't think the one that my husband made of me really resembles me much at all, aside from the hair and the eyes. :D I'd rather someone abuse my self-sim than me any old day.

Put me in awful pay stuff as well and kill two birds with one stone.  Plus, extra punishment for you. :D

I am NOT a chicken. I just don't want to end up in the meat-slab dress and married to Pescado. We may be talking about pixels here...but torture is torture no matter how you look at it.

:D *grabs Nouk's boobs and honks, then tickles Cala and runs* The torture is all in fun, though. At least it is for me and the one married to him becomes quite the wealthy widow! :D

I don't think Pescado will ever get married in my game.. he's too much of a player.

I'm kinda liking the idea of possibly being a wealthy widow. So, if I can find the proper glasses (smallish and dull coppery-colored frames) and hair (longish and can't make up it's mind whether it wants to be wavy or curly) I might give it a shot.

Oh, yeah, I'm pretty sure Paden just said that to get me to make a self-sim- kind of like a "I double-dog dare ya!" thing. But, hey, I'll go along with it...if only to advoid being poked with sharp sticks.

Can't be.  Look at her in this picture (http://thesuperficial.com/2008/04/denise_richards_in_a_bikini_mi.php?bfm_index=15&bfm_page=0).

I remember Fish making fun of the woman in the hooker shoes.. saying that she's always classy IIRC.

ETA:  My memory sucks but I found out who it was.  Shauna Sand (http://thesuperficial.com/2008/08/shauna_sands_thinks_a_bikini_a.php).

Good call! I could have sworn it was Richards. (has no idea who Shauna Sand is)

The kid looks totally embarassed by being seen in public with her. I thought they only started doing that in their teens.

Is it just me, or does Sim-Pescado always seem popular with the ladies? Every time I put him in game he always gets swooning. Must be the beard. I've even had him show up for the Matchmaker date.

It doesn't help that the ratio of phorum members is disproportionately female heavy.  The males get passed around like a joint, wetter every pass.

I'd prefer to have Pescado as a npc like Crumplebottom.  Instead of hitting people with a bag, he needs a weapon to cause butt hurt.
