Title: Just a newbie's opinion.
Post by: poopdeckswabber on 2006 November 28, 00:01:38
I happened to wander in here after seeing a link on the official site (general discussion boards). I have read up on what you guys are uo to and just would like to voice my opinion. I am glad this is being addressed. Some of these people make an ungodly amount of money because they own a site and/or upload "pretties". How ridiculous is this?
Also, I think that EA making it so custom content is uploaded to the exchange without having to purposely put it out that speaks volumes. Maybe that is their subtle message on this topic? Could be that I am reading too much into it, though.
I have never paid for any content, although I will donate (in only the purest meaning of the word) to my favorite sites. I am just so glad to find that I am not alone in the way I have felt about this crap. Thank you all. I'll quit rambling now.

Love the name, Swabby.

May I call you Swabby?

Title: Just a newbie's opinion.
Post by: poopdeckswabber on 2006 November 28, 00:29:54
Sure, Swabby is a lot better than what my 2 year old calls me.

OH GOD.

What does the two-year-old call you anyway?  Poopy?

Title: Just a newbie's opinion.
Post by: poopdeckswabber on 2006 November 28, 01:02:19
I get called by his grandmother's name (my other-in-law). So, yeah, Swabby is better.

My stepfather's name is Peter and his sister's name is Karen, so their niece calls them Uncle Pee Pee and Aunt Ka Ka.  Can't get much worse than that.

Title: Just a newbie's opinion.
Post by: Solowren on 2006 November 28, 01:05:30
Oh. Wow.

I don't think it does get worse than that, no.

I really don't know which is worse, Pee Pee or Ka Ka. Please, someone tell me.

I called my baby sister Pee pee. I don't really know why, her name is nowhere close to that (Jennifer). I also have a cousins I called Heifer and Bull. Nice, huh?

Title: Just a newbie's opinion.

I call my brother Boy but that's the most I've ever done. And he's even older than I am.

Title: Just a newbie's opinion.
Post by: caryse on 2006 November 28, 01:42:33
I used to call my sister Piss Pot, but that's only because that's what her friends called her. I'm the eldest, so I didn't suffer from pronunciation problems, heh.

It really angered her, so that was the appeal for me.

Isn't that what big sisters are for?

C.

Everyone but my girlfriend calls me Goo or Goo Doll. It's something I've been called since I was a baby. My uncle actually gave me the name.

I only got a few crumbs but they tasted of rum. I'm going to stop before I tell you it was yum and I put it in my tum and then start rhyming with bum. Oops too late.
I call my brother Balls and he answers, even when his friends are around. His name is Charles which Mum corrupted to Cheese, Cheese Balls, and well that's just too long. It started long before he could have been aware of the implications so it still works even though he's now a real grown up with a wife and 2 kids. For my sins they call me Freak. meh.

My nephew's name is Creed so I call him Cweedy-poo or Baby-poo (after my cat, whose name is Haido-poo). Further shortened to Poopie. My (future) kids are so gonna get it, aren't they?  :P

  Make some up for them.

Let's see, my Mom is known as "Cookie" from her side of the family and "Hank" from my Dad's side of the family. You don't want to know what her real name is. My Dad was called "Butch" by an uncle when he was growing up but his name isn't even close to anything "butchy".

My Dad always called me "Peanut". I'm the baby.  :D  For some reason I earned the nickname "Fiz" in high school. Lord knows where that came from. I never got it.

I have an uncle that calls my son "Kody Koyote". I could think of worse things so I'll settle for that.

My sister calls her father-in-law "Cornball" but his whole family calls him that, but... he is a cornball.

My father-in-law slapped "Toad" on my husband when he was younger. And other members of the family called him "E". So imaginative. I tell ya.

I call a co-worker BMW for bitch, moan, and whine because that's all he does. Another one we just dubbed Tank because he ran out of gas on his way to work recently. Had to walk 2 miles to a gas station because he was too embarassed to ask for help or call his wife.

And the list goes on...

Oh, and I'd take Swabby or Poopy any day.  :P

I was 'Katietittlepump' to some of my really annoying relatives when I was a child, then 'Sheep' at school, thanks to my extremely curly hair. I hate nicknames. I can't think of anyone else I know with an odd nickname, there's Kipper I guess, that's not exactly common. The problem is that when I've called someone something for years it starts to sound normal to me and I only remember it isn't when someone else points it out.

Only my family and two of my friends call me Bing--it's a family nickname, and if any of you call me that, I'm going to CRY.  (Not really, but what if I pretended to, huh?  Huh?!)

I've had Bernie Mac, Bernizzle, Bernie Baby...  And the animals in Animal Crossing call me Sugar B.

My brother is Pee-pong.  I don't know any other nicknames he's had.

I call my cat Mimi.  Her name is actually Noel, but she rarely gets called that.  It's usually fathead, shimi-shimi, or kimi-kimi.  And other things.  I like talking baby-talk to my cat.

Does anyone call their pet by their actual name?  My cat's name is Tigger, but I mostly call him Tiggy, Wiggy, Tiggy-Wiggy, or the ever popular Boogie, and Boogie My Man.  Apparently I called him that last one often enough, that my fiance created an old, grouchy sim named Boogie McMahon
Coincidently, my fiance & I are working on a cartoon tentatively titled, Nose & Boogie:  The Quest For The Elusive Tissue.  Yah, I have a weird obsession with boogies.  It's a quick laugh, hence my abnormal song, Boogies & Pickles.  Hmmmm .... amazing I have a man at all.

My cat's name was Priscilla, but usually I called her smooshy or stinky P. My mom was the one who named her.

She died in July, and she was 19. :(

I guess I shouldn't be surprised. I know of a kid named Ayatollah.

I was called Lucy as a child by my grandfather. That name is nowhere close to my real name though.

I was also called Jelly Beans and Babykins by my parents.

My cat is named Sasha but I call her Peanut.

I did that with a hamster I named once.  I have two cats, so calling them both cat would probably just confuse the hell out of them.  I normally refer to my tabby as "bummy" since he is older and 99% of the time I look at him he is just lying around.  My other cat is named servo, who I named after tom servo of MST3K, but I usually call her "fatty" as she is always eating, or sitting by her empty bowl trying to get me to feed her more.   If I didn't limit her food she would certainly be extremely overweight.

I want a Dog so I can name him Branford II.

My Uncles call me SherBear or Beary since I was little, cause it rhymes I guess, infact one of them wrote it on my christmas card they mailed me last year (sherbear).

Blame it on my brother. His second name is Viktor, so he wanted to name his kid Viktor Something or Something Viktor. Inspiration must have struck while he was re-reading a random X-Men comic. So my nephew is Viktor Creed.

I told them to name him Viktor Von Doom but no one listened to me.

Our cat is also named Cat.  Now that he's grown up and trying to be dignified, we call him Mister Cat a lot.  We tell people that his NAME is actually "Catastrophe" and we just call him Cat for short, but that's not true.  His name is Cat.

We're thinking of getting a second cat, and I've already prenamed her "Other Cat."  We'll call her O.C.

My 17 yr old cat is Scratch and i call him scratchers, scratchman, old man, farty old man, pooh head, death breath, monster, cranky old fart, etc.... funny thing is he answers to most of them. I've got another 8 yr old cat named sparky, but i call him spark about 90% of the time and little boy.... ok.. now i'm lost, what was the topic again??

I think it's funny the way topics get so derailed here and at MATY.... better than the comedy channel

Are we still naming cats?

Ok. I have one named Smitty, after David Letterman's assistant Monty (you'd have to watch Letterman to get that.). She's 25lbs  :o She usually gets called fatty fatty boombalatty or fat ass. She's been on a diet forever. I worry about her heart and joints with all that weight on a small frame cat......

Then we have Danny, A Manx. Danny after Danny John Juels of the BBC Red Dwarf. Manx Syndrome aka Leaky Butt. Danny gets called Stinky, Leaky Butt, Mr. Poopy, Nasty Ass, Disgusto Dan, oh the list goes on and on.....
