Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: paganwolf on 2007 January 27, 19:34:41 If you deleted all your custom content, and started fresh, it shouldn't still be there, unless you made files of your houses and it sneaking back in.
Wolf Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: Camilla on 2007 January 27, 23:27:31 Sim Snobs "Back to Nature" painting will overwrite the Lonesome Daisy. No link as I can't find it.
Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: notveryawesome on 2007 January 27, 23:37:25 A vase from the 'Spring' set at WallSims overwrites a Maxis vase. A shame, really, since it was a nice vase and Cathy at Aussie Top Enders has made some beautiful recolours of it.

http://www.modthesims2.com/showthread.php?t=70113 I've used it before and it worked for me Its a long process but it helps Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: Camilla on 2007 January 28, 00:02:12 Also (and this might be a d'uh to everyone) if I know what the problem download is, I redownload it, then run Clean Installer to find the file and the duplicate file, and remove them both. That's how I got my pedestal sink back, and I still have the V&B sink, so it must have been a recolor and not the original Birgit sink that was the culprit. I had a problem with a wall cabinet from WallSims that this worked with also.

You should probably edit the first post in this thread then, where it says: Quote from: "camilla" Birgit's Villeroy & Boch bathroom sink will overwrite your Maxi pedestal sink. http://www.birgit43.de/index.php?navi=sets&setid=5&set=25&site=4 I'm not bitching at ya, just pointing out that not everyone reads every post in a thread, especially since that's the OP. Can this subject get a sticky, so it doesn't get lost, as it's useful :?: Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: Lorelei on 2007 February 19, 06:31:46 Another WallSims overwrite: standard Uni dorm chair overwritten by Holly
Chair (ws_holly_chair_mesh.package or one of the recolours (beige / light tan)--wasn't sure, so removed them all (8-9 files)). Gripes here: http://www.bettersimsbureau.com/forum/index.php?topic=176.0 Image available in above referenced forum thread; tried to post it here and img code didn't work. Sorry. Other borkinated objects mentioned in same thread are a Stujl chair from modernsims.de, a hair mesh for which I wasn't 100% sure about who to blame, and a 4ESF Living7 Loveseat that eats Sims. Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: Lorelei on 2007 February 19, 20:40:05 That's bizarre. The images were uploaded and showed to me on site. I'll go look and see if I can figure out what's up.
EDITED TO ADD: They still show up for me, even after dumping my Internet cache and offline files. I don't know why you aren't seeing them, but I have no idea what I can do on my end to help further. BlueSoup, I think you noted that you were aware of/affiliated with BSB. Are the images showing for you? If you have no spare time to check, I totally understand. It might help pin down the problem Ymits is having, though, and I'll help however I can on this end. Ymits: If you want a description verbally, I can do that, but much of the modern content looks similar, so I don't know if it will help. The sofa is boxy, two-seater, and a fuzzy mid-grey, and the Stujl is black, has four legs, is a dining chair, with a round seat and a rectangular back suspended by two "metal" struts from the seat. Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: missangelica on 2007 February 19, 21:00:03 I don't see the pictures either lorelei.
Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: wicked_one on 2007 February 19, 21:27:43 maybe it requires being logged in (although it shouldnt be required since the admin can set it to allow guests to view attachments and not be able to download them without registering)

I am auto-logged in, as I am sole user and admin on my xp machine. It's only passworded at startup when I am traveling. So, as I am logged in, I see the images. Try registering, and let us know if that helps. But really, it's not that important to see my images, unless they will help you identify buggy content in your own game visually. If you don't have any grey loveseats from 4esf, or black modernsims.de dining chairs, or the Holly chair from Wallsims, you're safe from these particular borkifications. Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: Ymits on 2007 February 25, 09:04:10 Apparently the images only show up for registered members of the forum.

We're going to phase out the error reporting soon, however, and implement an automated integrity checker instead. This should cut down on the frequent reports of broken files which later turn out to simply be a loose nut on the keyboard.

I had this standing medieval floorlamp (candelabra) at Sims Connection overwrite the original maxis standing candelabra. I removed the Sims Connections one, and the Maxis one returned. Which was good, because I preferred the Maxis one. Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: IceBlu on 2007 April 28, 19:28:47 *block and paste from mispost of new topic*
I tried downloading the fence collection 2.rar from PSMBD/TSR/Windkeeper a couple of days ago and got a corrupt message. I waited a couple of days and tried downloading it again this evening. Same thing. I'll get some of the files from the UN-rar but not all. Here's the message I get: windkeeper 0 fencecollection2.rar: CRC failed in Fence Collection 2\wind_fence_latticeshortlightwood.package. The file is corrupt. ---------------- Regarding a CC file overwriting a Maxis file... I can't be sure if it's being done by Aussie Top Ender's oversized oleanders or not... still testing that but something has wiped out my Oleander. Does anyone else have a missing shrub they'd like to send me? Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: Camilla on 2007 May 01, 17:32:17 Quote For this sinke there is an update at meshkiste Great! Thanks. I think the giant oleanders from Aussie TopEnders overwrote it but I can't be sure of that. I deleted the oleanders I got from there then managed to find a free house on TSR that showed original oleanders in the yard so I downloaded it and now I have my regular oleanders back and the big ones are gone. *shrugs* Can't give ATE a bad rap if their giants didn't do it so I must say I can't be sure.
Now, next overwrite... my upright piano is gone. *groans* I don't usually give my Sims pianos..... they paint but this house theme requires an upright piano (old style). I have a feeling the culprit is one of the pianos I recently downloaded... either a grand piano from Simsnobs or one from Simplan-x or one of the electric keyboards I got from 11dots. I would really love to blame this on Maxis since they had a grand piano and were too lazy to give it to us in Sims2. I'll be testing to see who the culprit is on this one then keep the one that survives my sledgehammer. Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: IceBlu on 2007 May 07, 16:49:34 Quote from: "IceBlu" Now, next overwrite... my upright piano is gone. *groans* I don't usually give my Sims pianos..... they paint but this house theme requires an upright piano (old style). Both seem to have some adverse effect on my game so both were tossed out. The others from Blacky, ATE, Simenapule and MTS2 seem to be fine and do not interfere with the Maxis upright piano. The functions of the originals will not be affected and they donīt have to be deleted. The originals will not be overwritten and will appear again, when the files are taken out of the downloads folder. Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: wishful on 2007 June 08, 10:59:33 Well i guess I didn't see that as I only downloaded from the booty, didn't go to check it on the website like I normally do

Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: skweecat on 2008 January 12, 05:05:06 Just curious, since I haven't been arsed to check in my game since I got it in the booty, does the Simgedheons entrace set burglar alarm override the Maxis one too?
I deleted the mailbox, trashcans and phone booth. That was good to know, thanks. Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: SAM on 2008 February 06, 15:31:27 Hi,
This file gives me an error while trying to open the game: http://paysites.mustbedestroyed.org/booty/tsr/steffor/underthestair.zip Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: calalily on 2008 February 06, 16:12:41 Delete it. It's crap.
Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: millahnna on 2008 February 07, 01:52:16 I'm with calalily on this one. I spent an inordinate amount of time trying to make that stair work right in my game (because the idea of it is dope). It never has, never will, and crashes the game when compressed (the only file of the 16,000 in my downloads to do so) but even that not with any regularity. It's not even good at being bad. Heh.
Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: calalily on 2008 February 07, 06:10:12 Quote from: "millahnna" I'm with calalily on this one. I haven't had it in my game, and don't know if there's a problem. :D I didn't download it or even go look, or know what it is. But, no matter how many times you tell people payfiles are crap, that we are not support for the booty, they don't listen, and they tell us anyway. So I decided to just give the simplest answer that won't do any damage, because really, the files are just provided, and anyone who asks will be told "Delete it. It's crap" - at least by me. :D Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: millahnna on 2008 February 07, 21:36:12 It is a shame about that one because it's a neat idea; a stair with open space underneath that can actually be used. But it's garbage and full of problems.
Title: Problem Files/Overwriting Maxis Post by: AW on 2008 February 07, 23:01:31 Moune has a really cool staircase with shelves. You should check it out. Be sure and get the invisible shelves so you can place items. Just a suggestion.
