Title: We STOPPED a site going pay!!! HooRah! Post by: dahvyd on 2007 January 06, 11:16:25 Quote ... although this update includes outfits which I skinned several months ago for the donation collection. I've decided to make these files free as it seems like the right thing to do and after all I did create them, so I think I deserve the credit more than the file sharers out there. But that's another story... I'll try update pretty soon with the rest of the donation collection and more outfits that I've created within the past couple of days/weeks ... I think we all deserve a drink :D :D :D :D From http://www.curioussims.com/indexxx.htm Title: We STOPPED a site going pay!!! HooRah! Title: We STOPPED a site going pay!!! HooRah! Post by: ... on 2007 January 06, 12:08:46 I'm confused as to why this person thinks that filesharers take credit for anyone else's content. Yes, that's why it's all clearly labelled as to where it came from and this site even includes a text file in the directory with the site URL. We're totally taking credit for their hard work.

Post by: ... on 2007 January 06, 12:21:59 Hm, point - but if it isn't meant like that, the statement needs to be reworded to be more clear. Perhaps 'spotlight' or 'attention' instead of 'credit', or clarification of what credit. Usually the term credit, in this community, is used to refer to who made a thing.
Title: We STOPPED a site going pay!!! HooRah! Post by: Chris on 2007 January 06, 12:26:44 your point being?
Title: We STOPPED a site going pay!!! HooRah! Post by: Tchannie on 2007 January 06, 13:04:47 Well, I'm proud of you, Niccy, for at least not making people pay for this set! It's a step in the right direction.

Post by: BlueSoup on 2007 January 06, 17:39:36 Well, Niccy, wording aside, I'm glad you're releasing your donation set onto your site for free. :) When it's all up there, I'll remove your file here.
In the future, if you do need to gather funds to pay for your site or something, do a donation drive. I'm sure you will get donators that don't care if they get something in return other than a simple thank you. :) Title: We STOPPED a site going pay!!! HooRah! Anyhow, my stupid nitpicking about wording aside (it's a mental tic I have, don't mind me haha), thanks for doing the right thing, Niccy. Title: We STOPPED a site going pay!!! HooRah! Stupid nitpicking, nothing. It was worded in a way that made it unclear and subject to your sort of reaction. It's hardly your fault someone used a very flexible word that could be taken one way or another, then failed to use a couple more words to clarify. [/actual nitpicking] Anyway, congratulations, Niccy. Hopefully more creators follow your example. Hopefully... Dammit, they won't. Oh well. Here, have a coo--no, wait. Have a bottle of rum! |
