Title: New email from WFS (wood for sims) Post by: Skadi on 2007 November 14, 20:42:55 Quote we have more than 8000 members of the free WoodClub, we have the highest visitor counts ever, but the support for WfS is lower than ever, just for some single users the objects are worth for a small amount. Perhaps because the real life becomes harder, perhaps because I lost the right feeling for your wishes, perhaps because the bad dollar exchange rate – but I have to accept it. Therefore at the moment two steps: I have reduced the prices for the WoodClub membership and I removed the possibility to sign up for more than 2 month, because I'm not sure if I will be able to keep the site alive for a longer time, sorry. Many thanks for your understanding. May not be open for more than 2 months? Is it a case that she can't keep feeding her starvin' chilluns or is it bandwidth? Either way we may be seeing a killmark soon... Title: New email from WFS (wood for sims) Post by: alia on 2007 November 14, 21:16:41 It's not a killmark, unless she blames PMBD for it.
I feel kinda bad for her, WFS things are high quality and I like them a lot. At least she is informing people that she might be closing in a few months, so she's not trying to scam anyone. Title: New email from WFS (wood for sims) Post by: SamanthaS on 2007 November 14, 21:47:14 Or she's just doing it to get people to feel sorry for her and give her moar monee.
If your bandwidth bill is so much that you're struggling, then you have the wrong host. Title: New email from WFS (wood for sims) Post by: Hecubus on 2007 November 14, 23:29:50 I read that email twice hoping for a hint of blame against us. Alas. No killmark...just dead. In the meantime, she's playing the guilt card. How much you wanna bet she's the enemy's next conquest?
Title: New email from WFS (wood for sims) Post by: Requip on 2007 November 15, 00:17:48 Hasn't she sent out emails like this before? Yea, I found the one she sent out on June 26th -
http://phorum.mustnotbenamed.com/viewtopic.php?t=956&highlight=wfs There's a post in that thread by Duckie regarding another email where she DOES blame us. :D I'm a bit tired – for more than five years I try to make a good job, to make a good website, to offer good things for a low price, some things for free also, to reply all emails, to help for every problem and what is the result more and more? The peoples sent us bad emails, talk bad about us, there are pirate sites who offers our stuff and there are respectable peoples they think this theft is the right way. Title: New email from WFS (wood for sims) Post by: Hecubus on 2007 November 15, 00:50:40 Heh...that's right.
Maybe we'll get blamed after all. LOL Title: New email from WFS (wood for sims) Post by: Ry on 2007 November 15, 01:23:58 Well she could easily solve all of her bandwidth troubles by getting a free host.
Seems to me it has to be that her chilluns ain't gettin' enuff ta eats. Of perhaps she's lost her summer home in The Hamptons? Bah. Stay-go....whatever....but I have to admit I'll miss her stuff! Title: New email from WFS (wood for sims) Post by: Sherry on 2007 November 15, 01:33:40 Shame on you all! Don't you know that life is hard for some people? Our lives are full of energy and wealth we forgot there a few people out there that experience hardships we ourselves do not endure. Take pity on this woman and don't think twice about handing her your money, as you are probably just rolling around it in anyway. Be thankful that you go out to work everyday so you can rake in the cash while all this poor woman can do is sit at home, broke with only her hobby to console her.

It's atrocious a grown woman is acting like this.. spamming this huge guilt trip to pay for her hobby. This is not new. How many times has she sent similar emails like this one? People should start reporting her emails as a phishing scam because that is exactly what it is.
Quote we have more than 8000 members of the free WoodClub, we have the highest visitor counts ever, but the support for WfS is lower than ever What she means is, "8,000 of you were gullible enough to give me your email address so I can spam you relentlessly about not giving me money. Where is my money for these gifts I'm making you pay for? Isn't my lowered-but-still-overpriced-items-because-you-shouldn't-be-paying-for-them-anyway objects good enough for you? I'm going to take all my toys home and go home if you don't pay!! WHERE IS MY MONEY, BITCHES?!" Perversely, I'd rather have her keep enough paying customers to stay an independent pay site than go over to TSR. Of course the best thing would be if she went free, but she's been in this game a long time. The bigger TSR gets, the harder it will be for EA to shut them down. They're already in bed together, although it's hard to tell who's on top. Title: New email from WFS (wood for sims) Post by: Pescado on 2007 November 15, 13:09:34 She already blamed us in an oblique, roundabout way, complaining about her lost revenue. But just wait and see. Her little guilt trip will probably make a bunch of those 8000 WoodClub members feel terrible enough to take up a sub. And then Nofrena will be happy and rich again. Unless Hec is right (and she usually is) and she's on her way you know where. Title: New email from WFS (wood for sims) Post by: Tetsuo on 2007 November 15, 19:30:18 In her own way, Nofrena is a bit of a drama queen too.

She even used the same catch, "The support for WfS goes lower and lower." If you notice in that email she also starts making people give their email addresses for the free stuff so she can start spamming more people! Also to note from that thread.. Quote from: "Duckie" All that aside I have gotten emails from her in the past saying things similar to the typical paysite owner excuse for charging for content. She wrote: Quote For many years I searched for the right hosting: this moment I have the best for me. The WoodClub don't need so much hardware power of course. Then I could downgrade my expensive hosting. I find it very disappointing, because if she closed her free section, then I'd not download anything anymore. I refuse to ever pay for custom content ever again. And she makes such *nice* things, too. I love wooden surfaces. :( Title: New email from WFS (wood for sims) Post by: calalily on 2007 November 21, 07:20:04 Surely if she closed her free section, there would be no inducement to buy without trying. They don't keep it open out of kindness - but to lure customers to get the rest of the set. More fool her if she closes it - she'll substantially reduce customers and be the only total paysite (hope I'm right) in existence. :?

The WoodClub don't need so much hardware power of course. Then I could downgrade my expensive hosting. Or, she could ask to be hosted by WickedNouk or elsewhere for FREE - providing she closes the PAY section. I think that excuse she gave is such bullshit: if it's not a space or traffic issue, why on earth would the free section need to be closed? If she's all about finding cheaper hosting so she doesn't have to beg customers to "donate" (read: buy) her other shit, then it would make sense to close her "donation" section (paysite-area) and join up with a freehost. But, of course, this would defeat her whole purpose on trying to suck money out of the Sims 2 community. Whatever amount of money she gets out of her pity-cry-filled donation scam is more money than she'd get from being part of a free site group. Also, Calalily is 100% right - paysites need that free section, however crappy it might be, so people can see if they like their crap enough to buy it (so how does Peggy get customers?). If I ever saw a 100% paysite, I'd never go there again and not even download their junk from the booty. It could be totally borked or have a million polys for all anyone knows. Don't go all zombie on me But I just wanted to ask a question (through gritted teeth arr!) I just went over to her site.. and instead of subscribing once to get all her stuff like I thought you always did (like ATS2) you have to pay for each separate set Now.. I am POSITIVE you didn't have to do this before... correct me if I am wrong. So if she is doing this, it's because more people are sharing and she can't afford her 45th ivory back scratcher this year. I am so mad! I have ALWAYS hated the pay per set donation bullshit! It's evil! mean! hurtful to the community! Server bills my ass!
