Title: The power of PMBD compells me!
Post by: MGSwartwout on 2007 November 11, 01:14:28
I feel compelled to write you awesome people a thank you!
For a VERY long time I have been hoping to find someone, (or a group) who share a common belief; we shouldn't have to pay for all this really neat stuff out there, that's just not very nice to say the least. (I would even go as far as to describe paysites as mangy mongrel bastard as*-clowns, but I digress...)  I was more than excited when I stumbled on to PMBD, here is the answer I have searched for! Thank you so much for helping those of us who have no spare cash for B.S. paysites aquire some very nice things for our sims! My friends and I greatly appreciate what you are doing for us, we hope you will be able to continue your terrific efforts for a long time to come!

Thanks again so much!
MGSwartwout & Friends :D

Yea that's cute but if you would have lurked more you would have seen that we already have a intro  thread (http://phorum.mustnotbenamed.com/viewtopic.php?t=1302) that you could have posted this on. There is also a "How did you find out about this place" and "Thank you thread" around here somewhere if you would use search. You might also want to become friends with the FAQ  (http://phorum.mustnotbenamed.com/viewtopic.php?t=1104)

Trying to save you from the pirates ;) We haven't had a n00b is some days.

Just trying to be polite, I have a tremendous amount of respect for those who stand up to paysites and tell them to stick it so far up their behind that their brains come popping out of their eyesockets. :D

Thanks for the Rum!

I'm so glad I've taken the time to lurk about the forum tonight. Truely I've discovered a good-humored, drama hating, (I just finished reading about this psycho jan person - sorry for mentioning it) decent people who care only to bash those who deserve it - oozing with sarcasm, and served with a side of screw you. Not to mention that the only people in the sims2 community I have found with any kind of mental stability seem to post here... What an interesting coincidence!

Beautiful!

I followed that thread all the way through because the woman reminded me of my former boss.  I might have thought it was my boss except that she was too busy thinking the world revolved around her to bother with alternate identities - that and the woman is so computer illiterate that she made me put attachments on her e-mail for her because she wasn't interested in learning Eudora. (She even forced me to learn how to do a little bit of hacking in Eudora so it would display things like she wanted.   )

 Edited to fix sloppy sentence.

How is it that people like that keep their jobs???

It's employers (and co-workers) like that which nudged me into being content as a stay-at-home mom and part time basement business person. Answering to costume/corsetry clients is a lot less stressful in most cases than a demanding, self-centered, egocentric, technologically impared, mentally challenged boss that expects everyone else to keep them employed... :D

Well, in the case of my looney ex-boss, it was because she had all the $$$.  If I hadn't needed that regular paycheck I sure as hell would not have put up with her BS.

I still can't figure out why her biker-man boyfriend wanted to live (and work - he was incredibly annoying too, just not insane) and work with her.  Well, I can speculate but the reasons I'd think of are not very nice.

LOL, a few choice comments come to mind...
Anyone that lazy/pushy/pissy/bitchy/stuck up is lucky to be in any kind of relationship - dyfunctional or otherwise. She must've been darned good in the sack, 'cause it sure doesn't sound like she was good at anything else.

Well, I figured it must be that or her megabucks.  She bought herself a new luxury car every 2  years while making us use old computers.

Title: The power of PMBD compells me!
Post by: Arnina on 2007 November 17, 23:42:15
Meh, I don't see the point in whining about old computers.  If the computers served the business needs appropriately, there is no reason for her to cut into her profit margin to purchase new ones.  If you could demonstrate to her how new computers would increase productivity and, therefore, revenue you might be able to justify the purchase.  As for the new cars, she is spending her personal income and it is not an employee's place to judge her personal spending habits.

Title: The power of PMBD compells me!
Post by: Paden on 2007 November 17, 23:58:43
The mega bucks were in her account from the business. One thing about business I learned from my mother, who had her own business, you take the profits and plow them back into the firm before you spend a penny on yourself and your lifestyle.

Title: The power of PMBD compells me!
Post by: Arnina on 2007 November 18, 00:12:08
We don't have enough information about the business to know whether this owner was putting some of her profits back into it.  This owner could very well be sinking some of the profits into other areas.  My point is that in most cases business expenditures should not be made unless these expenses will generate more revenue.  Buying new computer systems would be frivolous if the owner just wanted shiny new systems or wanted to impress the employees.  In addition, an employee complaining that s/h/it wants a new computer and using the owner's personal spending habits as the only justification doesn't warrant the expenditure.

Title: The power of PMBD compells me!
Post by: SavageArtistry on 2007 November 18, 02:52:40
Arnina, don't argue this with me. I worked for the woman for 5 years. I think I know how she treated me better than you do. Doing graphic design on a computer that was so slow it would err out on saving files and cause me to lose an hour of work is not smart business practice.

The woman is one of those people who think the world revolves around her, whether you think so or not - or maybe the years of washing her dishes, cleaning out the back of her car, or tripping over her dogs that she brought to work with her didn't count.  As for where she got her money - of course it was from the business.  She was the only owner.  I'm sure she got to write off the luxury cars as a tax deduction or something. That was up to her, but it was a pain in the ass to be working in a tiny hole in the wall place with basic equipment that could have been a lot better.  That's all I'm saying.

And I only commented on her before because someone mentioned Jan/Charlotte.  It wasn't an invitation for you to critique my life.

Edited to add:  Did I mention that said old computer had Windows 98 on it until around the end of 2005???

Title: The power of PMBD compells me!
Post by: Arnina on 2007 November 18, 03:03:19
The fact that you think my opinion is a critique on your life says more about you than it does me.  Good luck with trying to tell me what I can and cannot say on a public forum.

I've heard many employees complain about the way the business is run and feel entitled to perks.  You framed your critique of your boss in such a way that criticized her personal life.  Based on the info you've provided in both posts her car buying habits are irrelevant.  Nobody forced you to work there.

Say what you want about other things, but I don't appreciate personal jabs.  Is that the reason you have made three of your 5 posts on this thread? Just to be irritating?

Quote from: "Arnina"

That's because she brought too much of her personal life to work.

Quote from: "Arnina"
Nobody forced you to work there.

Nobody but the competitive job market where I live.  I was in the process of looking for another job already, but got laid off before finding one. (And no, I was not fired unless having surgery is a major offense.)

Do me a favor - please drop this. I don't want to start another unemployment thread.  And doesn't everybody vent about their jobs from time to time?  Geez.

Title: The power of PMBD compells me!
Post by: Arnina on 2007 November 18, 03:37:01
I don't plan to continue arguing with you.  You put your personal life on a pubic forum for anybody to read.  Don't be surprised if not everybody agrees with your complaint.  To be fair, after you posted more info, I agree that you probably did need new equipment.  The fact that your job relied heavily on your computer and the fact that it lost data hindered your productivity.  That is a valid reason for purchasing new equipment.

To be honest, I replied to your post because I've been on the other side of the fence.  I've had certain employees that criticized every move I made.  They were not in possession of the information I had and did not always understand the decisions.  Your post, although limited in info, reminded me of the irritation I used to have towards those employees.

Regardless, I don't mind if you call me irritating or laugh at my post count.  It's all part of being on the intrawebz and there's no point in making this into a drawn out argument.

Title: The power of PMBD compells me!

I can understand from the other side - believe me I can.  I was annoyed that other employees took so much time off when I was there every day busting my butt, even if I understood their reasons.  And a lot of people don't have good work ethic. I understand that - the only thing I thought I was entitled to was payment for my work.  I didn't even get health benefits.

The problem is being treated like dirt when you do show up every day like you're supposed to and aren't goofing off.  The problem is when the boss brings her personal life to work and shoves it in your face.  Believe me I'd rather not know details about what her dogs were doing the night before and what color her sheets are and what side of the bed she sleeps on with her boyfriend.  That was stuff I didn't want or need to know... so yes I am irritated and I gripe.

I was just aggravated with you because you took one little half-hearted jab I made at the boss (oh she reminds me of Jan) and made a discussion about it.  And yes, I'm partially to blame for participating.

Now.. I say let's forget this and let this thread either die or go back to its original topic.

Edit:  Have fun, Hec. I've had enough drama for the night.

Sorry, Hec.  I know a good drama fest is a riot to watch but I guess we've spoiled the fun.

Assburgers in the MATY term for Asperger's Syndrome. We resently has a user, Dunbrine (AKA Dumbrine AKA brown piss) who blamed his Asperger's Syndrome for his constant bad spelling. He was taunted for not using Spell Check, dubbed Dumbrine/brown piss and now Aspergers is called Assburgers.

Well, I have Asperger's and my spelling is just fine.  I don't know what's wrong with that guy but it's obviously not just that. ;p  I'm not surprised at all that MATY's juvenile humor found a way to make fun of Asperger's but I don't like it at all spreading over to here.. but then I guess lolcats and moar fight came over too so it's inevitable.  Knowing this won't make me not want to punch people who say "Assburgers" any less though.

That is on account of silly dumbfucks that forget to hold down that nifty little key marked "shift" that makes up part of the whole keyboard. Really makes you wonder if they're taking typing classes or computer reliant classes at all in the damn schools we pay so much of our tax money for.

As for the insults and such from MATY folk, it isn't for us to say who can and who cannot drift over, Pescado is the master of both boards, and he is also the Lord of the Caturday and such. Don't like it, don't look at it, I guess. Me, I don't mind Caturday so much but then again I have a life that revolves pretty much around my home and family believe it or not, and a break in the daily such and such is always a relief to me.

As for the spaces between my paragraphs on this post, it was brought to my attention that one of my longer rants was difficult to read due to the fact that the motherfucking indents and paragraphs didn't translate over from my word processing program worth a ditch digger's spooge, so I'm trying this out to see if it makes a whit's worth of change for ya'll. If it does, I'll try to keep it. If not, oh well, it's up to me because I'm the one typing it out.

Last but not least, take things with a grain or block of salt. Be willing to pass the blame, the guilt and most importantly, the buck. Joke 'em if they can't take a fuck and carry a heavy shield at all times, because certain folks around this place carry weapons within their words. If you can't find the humour, don't read them. Simple to me. Don't attack unless you're willing to defend. Apologize when you're wrong and don't keep yanking your dick long after the excitement is over, you're just gonna get chafed if you do. Have a nice night and don't forget to trim the claws on your teddy bear, he could be something else in disguise.

The world ain't all sweetness and light, sometimes it's terror in the night. Or waking up to a cat horking a honkin hairball onto your pillow.

Basically, it's where the emotional understanding is at a lower level than the intellectual understanding.  Kids with Aspergers will often not understand other social cues from other kids, and will interpret it wrongly - and react badly.  I say kids, because people with Aspergers can usually, after a lot of hard work, rectify most of the misunderstandings, or learn to err on the side of caution.

People with Aspergers are often focussed on one subject, or one thing - for some it's bird watching, for some it's robotics, for some it's some other thing.  They're great lateral thinkers and will see things from a different viewpoint because their imagination isn't bound in the same way others is.  They're also usually pretty damn good at understanding intellectual stuff, and in particular their favourite subject (birdwatching, types of dirt, robotics etc.).

Some people with Aspergers like to invent things, and there's a woman with Aspergers who, due to being obsessed with horses, revolutionised some sort of feeding trough for them.

I will assume you are speaking to everyone but for my part, I understand and agree with what you are saying.  This "assburger" business is now added to things that irk me but I will tolerate to a point.  I keep my list of pet peeves largely to myself these days and that's fine.  I can be shaking my fist at the screen and you wouldn't even know.  ;p

Even as an adult, for me the finer emotions are difficult to read in the face and body language.  I still can't read my sister when she calls me a bitch if she's joking or not.  It's really easy to fall into being really cynical or being too gullible (trusting)..  it can get better with practice, thankfully, but it's still not the same as those that don't have it.

Holy shit, my faux teenage rant even hurts my eyes.  I had to use a translator for that incomprehensible mess.  Out of curiosity, does anybody know why so many 1's are used in netspeak?

I know how bad it hurts just trying to type that crap let alone reading it.

And if I'm not mistaken, the 1s orginally came from trying to type !s and in the excitement of the moment releasing the shift key too soon. It then got deliberately exaggerated into the 1s and eventually "one one etc" as a form of making fun of those who used the !!! too much and then eventually it made its way into the juvenile "leet" speak

or something like that.

Pretty much. It just continued the "!!11oneone" that so many started doing.

Those people don't have "Assburgers". There is nothing wrong with them, they are simply destined to be geeks, dorks, and nerds. "Assburgers" is simply a made up label to stigmatize people who have nothing wrong with them, and quickly becomes yet another label to be bandied about, like all the other made-up mental "illnesses" that didn't exist a hundred years ago. Genetic mutation simply does not work fast enough to spontaneously create a endemic condition in totally unrelated people in only two generations. It does not work this way. Therefore, this condition does not really exist and is simply made up.

Aspergers exists, despite what you say Pescado - there may indeed be overdiagnosis, but that doesn't mean that the condition fails to exist.  There is no stigma attached to people with Aspergers at all - they don't need to disclose it, and can easily deal with the world by going under the guise of the geek.  They are also far more obsessed than your average geek.

Genetic mutation doesn't work that fast - but you are suggesting that history was full of proper diagnoses of diseases.  It wasn't - the medical profession has only just had the resources to fully research these things, and society has only just stopped beating the hell out of people to make them conform.

There was no historical CAT scans, yet brain tumours still occurred - they were diagnosed with "demons in the head" and they tried to drill/scoop the demons out with stones.  Left handed people were also trained out of being left handed - this is hardly a society with the resources and will to study the population as is.

So, your grandfather's father may have had Aspergers, but no one diagnosed him and he had three types of hell beaten out of him until he seemed "more normal" - and so it is not recorded - cause no one was looking, they were beating the shit out of him to make him conform.

Asperger's is more than a personality quirk or an artifact of medical overreaching, Pescado.  Try explaining to my 11 year old why he 's bullied at school for not understanding the social cues the other kids give off.  Or why he can memorize facts with amazing speed but can't process them into a meaningful synthesis.

I'm so tired of these Thomas Szazoid paranoid theories about mental illness that should have died out in the '70's.  This stuff is real, evidenced by the facts that it has correlates in the brain, and can be chemically modified.  Or don't you do science, Pes?

Sorry, but this kind of shit infuriates me.  You try dealing with my kids, one of whom has Asperger's and the other who is severely hampered by ADHD, and tell me it isn't real.

No, it didn't just suddenly exist in two generations.  The brain is so amazingly complex that we still don't understand it fully.  You may find this interesting (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Changeling#Neurological_differences).  Read that section then read the article from the beginning.

Oooo. Brains. My favorite.
*does zombie moan*

Mentall illness is blamed for the stupidest shit. Honestly, people who are truly mentally distrurbed are less likely to announce it to the world than you'd think.
Those who do tell everyone how messed up their minds are are generally attention seekers. Generally, I say! Not everyone.
Our brains are the least known about subject in the scientific world. We use 10% or so, what's going on in the other 90%?
So, yes, mental illnesses are defintely real, but I'd have to say that the majority of the people online in the simming world who throw those illnesses out there are faking or so fucked that they should be medicated and jacketed and shoved into a padded cell.

Ry:  "Faking it or so fucked up they should be jacketed and shoved into a padded cell"?  STFU, really.  You don't know what the hell you are talking about.  It's bullshit like that that made me nervous to admit it in this phorum that I have Asperger's.  It is so integral to who I am though in how I think and why I do what I do that not saying it, it's like a big elephant in the room.  So while Calalily is right when she says I could choose to not disclose it, it doesn't help people understand it either.  It's like how the majority of people do not understand depression at all and say they're depressed when they're really just feeling sad.  It's two completely different things.

Usage of only 10% of our brains is a myth. (http://www.snopes.com/science/stats/10percent.asp)

I don't think ry was referring to you - rather to people like dunbrine, who use it as an excuse for bad behaviour/misspelling etc.  :)

He stated at MATY (from memory) that he was first diagnosed as orthpecly challenged, and then that he had his diagnosis changed to aspergers.  My only guess (and others) was that he was referring to "orthopedically" challenged - although what feet have to do with Aspergers is beyond me.  He also kept calling himself "retarted" - hence drew all kinds of shit, and provided an object lesson in why one avoids MATY.

Um, excuse me?
I specifically typed GENERALLY, as in, not meaning everyone, so YOU STFU.
I'm a psych major, I've been in college taking classes about this stuff you claim I know nothing about for 6 YEARS.
I'm also Bipolar. But I don't claim every fucking mistake I make is because of that, either.
Read fully next time, MissThang.
You seems to be a little touchy, eh?

I would think someone as a Psych major would show at least a tad more sensitivity instead of blatantly disregarding other's feelings.  I'm "touchy" because you're saying really atrocious things and you don't seem to care at all.  I don't blame all my problems on Asperger's either as you're so quick to claim.  I'm done talking to you.

Alright, atleast Cala here understands that I WAS NOT TALKING ABOUT YOU.
But now I will, whether you're done talking to me or not.

I never claimed you were blaming fuck ups on any kind of mental illness.
I never said word fucking one about you, Angelica. I was in no way referring to you.
I am 4 classes from a degree. I also am NOT insenstive, I am sick to death of people blaming their own stupid behavior on mental disease. And if you can't understand then OH FUCKING WELL.

Honestly, you really have an emo drama queen bone in your ass. I have never in my life had anyone jump on a generalization as fast as that and ASSume it was about them.

Um, guilty conscience?

So yeah, I want you to know that I was not in any way reffering to you. And the fact that you jumped so fast is almost proving my point, eh?
Pfft.

For the record, I was not specifically mocking all people with this syndrome.  I was imitating Dunbrine.

The PC level is tuned up unexpectedly high for one of Pescado's forums.  However, as I'm new it is not for me to attempt to change the tone of an entire forum and I will play by the unofficial rules.  With that being said, a quick search of the offended parties posts quickly revealed that she's been guilty of mocking people for things they cannot help:

"Different personalities are for RPers and those with mental disorders. (One and the same? ;p)" http://phorum.mustnotbenamed.com/viewtopic.php?p=22592&highlight=#22592

Pot and kettle.

it was straight after Angelica and others had been talking about Asperger's, so one could take it the way that you were accusing of people with Asperger's of being dramawhores and attention seekers. I actually read your post that way. Not because you meant it that way (since you say you didn't), but because of the context.

I understand that Angelica, who has Asperger's feels sensitive about this, so I can understand her reaction.

I like you both, so I'd hate to see you two fight. Now, it was just a misunderstanding, so be good girls and kiss and make up, so you can make me happy. :D

Bah!

Okay, let me see if I can explain what I was trying to say better.
Look at it this way, people feel the same way Pescado does for a reason.
It's because people use all kinds of mental illnesses as excuses for stupidity.
People claim mental illness to get Social Security and then work under the table for more money.
People say they hurt/maimed/killed this person or that one because they're insane or stricken with this disorder or that one.
When you scream it at the top of your lungs that you have a mental illness it is less likely to be taken seriously. I wholeheartedly believe that. If you say I fucked up because I'm Bipolar, that's why that post was rotten or rude...it's an excuse. Period. And then it becomes not an illness, but the reason you're an asshole and everything else in your life.

I wasn't talking about Angelica. Period. I don't know why you guys seem to think that, but since Alia has said so I believe it may have been taken out of context. *alia is my voice of reason*
What I was talking about was a *YOU* in general and an illness in general.
Sometimes my mind works faster than my fingers.
At any rate, I won't apologize for insulting or fighting with someone I never intended to insult or fight with. She should have questioned instead of accused and that's MissThang's bad, not mine. If she felt offended by my post she could have simply asked if that was what I had meant to say.
Oh well.
And that beautiful person who posted that link to Angelica's lovely post, thanks. Pot Kettle indeed.

I reserve the right to MOAR FIGHT with you over that.  That is so deeply offensive to people like me - who don't get it.  I am so fucking angry with you right now - not to mention you talk of flogging!  Flogging off is masturbation - and Pescado doesn't allow that here!

You know, I spent some time last night posting something hoping to head shit like that off. Did any of you fucking bother to read it? I know some of you read it and it sank in. Others may have just said, "oh its another piece of shit by that bitch Paden so I'll just ignore it." I write to make people think and such, but if you can't bother to read the words I provide, then fuck you. And the horse you rode in on. And all of the other good crap.

Sensitivity isn't a matter of great importance on this board and if you think it is, maybe you'd best take another look. And think about it while you sit on your hands. Do you get offended by my words? Good! But they pull your brains out of your ass and get them in gear, don't they! When someone is saying "you", don't fucking think they mean the actual literal YOU! It;s called generalizing. Human beings do that. Take this for what you will, I don't care. Have a whatever day.

And don't bitch that pwecious widdle feewings got hurt. This is a Pescado board and as such, you knew that you could have experienced some butthurt coming in the door. If you didn't know that, please read the sign that says, "Leave your tender emotions in the locker area for your own protection, not responsible for lost or stolen items, children left unattended will be eaten."
