Pardon me if someone has already posted this, but I saw this and just got so fucking pissed.
I was at Pandora Sims 2, and I looked at the "Super Mod" and it is all hacks from MATY.  They even kept the name and description, just took out all of the MATY stuff.  Here's the link if anyone is interested in checking it out.

The thing that pisses me off most?  They are charging for this.  That's right, it's a payfile.  I hate these assholes.  I was looking at their site, and it has a Job Opportunities section, and it describes one of the animation jobs as "high paying".  i thought these sites were only charging to help with bandwidth.
I am going to send these idiots a message about the "Super Mod" and see if they deny it.  This bothers me a lot because some poor schmuck could get conned into paying for this, not knowing they can get the same thing free from the people who ACTUALLY MADE IT.  Not only that, but they'll be able to get any necessary fixes, etc.  I highly doubt that this site offers any type of support...
After I write the message, i will post a copy of it, and I will let you know if I get a reply.

Towards the bottom of the page someone asks why the MATY stuff is in the booty, next page says it may be a poke at Pandora's.

Meh, okay, either way, I sent them an email, if you're interested.  I just was really surprised at this, but I don't know why I am getting surprised at the greed of a paysite.
Oh well, maybe I'll get an interesting reply.  Sorry for posting on this when someone already had posted...I just was pretty sure I hadn't seen anything on it.  I guess that's what I get for thinking I had found something new and shocking!  :D  :lol:

    I think that it would be a nice gesture of goodwill if you were to give a link to MATY, and let your site visitors know that they can get these mods for free over at MATY if they choose to.  I hope you will consider doing this, or taking the Super Mod down and telling your visitors to go to MATY for this.

Fat chance of that. Blade just steals whatever he likes and charges for it. Pescado and MATY aren't the only ones he's done this to, and he pretty much told Numenor to shove it when he asked that his creations be removed from a pay site.

Yep, it was discussed. I saw it over on Pandora Sims site and it made me wonder if it was the same set of hacks. Off to MATY I went to find out that it is the same set of hacks, they already knew about it, and were laughing at it. Shortly thereafter the MATY stuff popped up in the booty. There wasn't a loud to-do made of it so that's probably why it was new to you.

Should I write back, because I know s/h/it's saying that PMBD stole their shit, but they aren't using PMBD's hacks, they're using MATY's hacks.  Then again, they probably see it as being interchangeable, and I guess it sort of is.  Wow, I am bummed out though, I at least thought they would be, well, I don't know, different about this.

And yet we haven't stolen one single thing from PandoraSims. It's all been paid for.

There was a thread in S2C where numenor posted his exchange with him, making the guy look like a total ass. However, he was threatened because he told him that he'd take them down as long as he didn't post the conversation on MTS2. (and he didn't  :lol:)

One could go to EA as did the creators who had left TSR. Just thinking. You've got a paysite stealing free files, selling them, and of course they are EA's package format.

I know from when it was discussed at MATY recently that Pes didn't truly really care...they don't keep the things updated like he does on the site. Let them deal with the whining when stuff conflicts.

Well, to be honest I don't think that as pirates, we can really complain too much if someone hosts our files on other sites. After all, isn't the basis of our argument that EA has given us permission to freely share all files as we wish? In that case, Blade has every right to host MATY hacks on his site, just as we have every right to host pay files here. BUT as pirates, we still agree that credit should in every case be given to the original creator. Every creator, every time. It isn't stated in the EULA, but it's common courtesy, right? And it doesn't need to be said that we don't agree whatsoever with free files being posted in a pay section.

So I can only conclude one thing, Blade is a douchebag who thinks that by hosting Pescado's hacks, refusing to credit him and charging for it that he will piss people off. It is working, I guess, except not on the intended target. Pescado probably doesn't give a rats ass, and if people are dumb enough to pay for them elsewhere then I guess we can't save everyone.

Also Blade, if you do read this, I just want you to know that your files are in the booty for the sake of completeness. No one really wants em, they're right on par with the Carla Niven stuff. Pandora Sims peaked in TS1 days, since then it's just another ugly stepchild with subpar downloads.

Pes has, I believe, stated that he honestly doesn't care.

I suspect that, if he ever thinks much about it at all, he's not thrilled that this stuff is being sold, but pretty much seems to think that if anyone is dumb enough to pay for outdated custom content that is available for free and supported / updated elsewhere, then that is on the dumb person's head.

If I have misinterpreted Pes's comments, that is on me. He was asked directly and his attitude was basically "Meh, whatever". :)

Someone plagiarized it, yes; as in, they downloaded it for free and then attempted to sell it. You can't really steal something that's offered for free, can you? You can, however, attempt to take credit for creating it and try to sell it in an immoral fashion (which was done).

I know I am a bit late in replying, but I wanted to reply again, since I originally posted this thread.
I agree with what Liegenschonheit said, and I didn't realize that Pescado doesn't care.  Although he is not required to credit Pescado, he should.
Having said that, I think that he should at least give credit where credit is due, since we do that here, and we are seen as being the scum of the sims community by many (wrongfully, but it's true) so shouldn't he at least try to live up to the standards of a bunch of "Pirates"?  I suppose he doesn't have to, so he won't.  He is a scumbag, and as Liegenschonheit said, a douchebag.
He seems like a scummy loser, and usually there is no talking to such people, which is why I didn't reply to his reply.
While EA does allow for sharing, they don't allow for profitting off of CC or hacks.  And if this was a free site doing this, I wouldn't have mentioned it, but it is a pay site selling free items without credit, and as has been mentioned by me and someone else in this thread, he is selling people unsupported versions of hacks that he does not update, and I think that behavior is unconscionable.
All in the name of the almighty dollar, though, I suppose.

Calalily, I don't think you came off as mean, I think you came off as being right, and when you're right, you're right.  I saw the smily you put in, and saw it as you teasing me for bringing up something again just to state my opinion on it, that I had already stated, without really saying anything other than saying I wouldn't email him again.

Just confirming, but I would be completely insane to go to a suburban Chicago bookstore tonight to wait for the midnight distribution, wouldn't I? The PotterPotter thing was hilarious, for the few seconds I watched it. I could believe a little kid watching it for hours. If it was later at night I probably have listened to it until I blanked out and exited it. I'm not getting it right away, I probably won't get it until Christmas. I'll probably read it before that though.

I've had enough cookies in the last two weeks to last for awhile.

All deaths by evil are senseless Aikane - I finished it 5 hours ago, and had a bit of a re-read of the bit on Hollows and Horcruxes and the Battle - don't want to say too much.  No one likes an unexpected spoiler.

I cried at least 5 times, and cried when the enormity hit me at the end of what had happened - mainly the names bit.

I know that, but there was no follow up or anything on them like there was with the deaths in previous books...it was just splat, dead and then nothing, straight into the epilouge. I would have liked a funeral or some sort of closing scene about the deaths.

(I howled continually through the book  :oops: Specially when *that* pair was killed - also trying to be ambiguous here - they were my favourites)

Yeah - me too - that the both of them - so so sad.  The real wrench for me was the apparation silver one - oh I cried a lot for that - still brings tears to my eyes.  And the realisation of fate scene - oh that was terrible - I went right along for that ride. *Trying desperately not to spoil here*

But all those Harry/Hermione shippers must be crying themselves to sleep - as any sane person knew.  I actually saw one of them argue that Ron giving Hermione a bottle of perfume meant less than Harry giving her a book -  :shock: yeah - cause my husband wouldn't smash someone in the face if they were a friend and gave me perfume - books - no smashing  :lol:

I think maybe there was nothing that could be said at a funeral that we didn't already feel.  I think the continuation meant a lot - and the place they'd gone.  More than weeping - which we know they'll do.

Sorry to disappoint, but I did not cry myself to sleep. I kind of rather shrugged about it and went on. ;)
And from the harry/hermione communities I drop in on, no one there has been crying either. Disappointed yes, but most have also been somewhat happy that it didn't happen after all.

Yeah - those ones.  I spent the night before DH reading their alchemy theories on Leaky - I have a good friend who is into alchemy and we were pming away on the subject, while laughing at the delusional shippers.  They had essays and everything  :lol:

That was the one that made me cry non-stop and have to take a break. I still can't think about it (the seaside). With the two, I suspect it was part of her love of creating symmetry between the generations.

Loving the very very end with the comment made at the station. Trying to get away from the Snape-like predisposition, I take it.

I just finished the book. It was good, all except the epilogue. The epilogue was too goody-goody for me. It about made me cry, probably because it was the last one. I did have a good time shouting "OMG" during some parts.

Calalily, I have seen that Ron and Hermione were an item since the Order of the Phoenix movie...she was all over Ron, worrying about his Feelings, and yelling at Harry for letting Ron get hurt....it was quite obvious after that. (I'm not spoiling anything, am I? My son is reading the book and won't tell me anything.)

You're certainly not spoiling anything - it's been obvious since about book 2 that there is something more between the two of them.  

There's just confirmation of what's been obvious before that's all.
