Except for the pink reds, the green browns, the blue blacks, the massive neck gaps, and the hair that stabs you sim in various body parts when they move, she's great.

Don't forget the subpar at best animation.

What? Doesn't everyone's hair only have one moving strand when they pull it into a ponytail?

Maybe you guys just don't use enough hairspray.

Either way, I kind of like Helga's things. She has some nice hair on her site. But I don't like them enough to download them-- unless I need one for some pictures. But, I doubt that will happen, so that's that, then!
17  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / A NEW PAYSITE!!!! on: 2007 January 27, 14:02:37
There was most likely a server rollback, or something along those lines. I had to log in again, when I hadn't cleared my cookies or anything. For a few minutes, the forum seemed to be down for me, so this seems the most likely option.
(And it's marking several posts that I've read as "unread", so there's another piece for that pile.)

I'll edit this post again in a moment, and add on the links to the donation furniture sets. Is that all right? I'm just trying to get all of the relevant information together.

Edit: The furniture that requires "donation" follows.

I came here to post about the same topic.
They currently have four female "donation" hair styles:

Here's a bit from their FAQ ("guide"), transcribed, engrish and all.

-----
Regarding Donation
-Firstly, it is the electronic gateway donation utilizing Mypay.net, which can be used by the person residing in Korea only.
It is possible to use the donation item as soon as this donation is made.
-Secondly, it is the donation utilizing Paypal, which can be used by the person possessing Palpal account only.
In this case, the procedure for acceptance is required, and it is possible to use the donation item within 24 hours.
-----

So, basically, Paypal (palpal? hee hee) users have to wait for the site owner to contact them, it sounds like.
And... that's all the information I have. Maybe some of their male hair is pay, too. I'll have to check.

I like some of the things on this site. Not all, mind. Generally, the quality seems somewhat "eh", and the hair colors aren't the greatest. (I'm planning on recoloring the free ones that I like in a few minutes.) But I'm quite a sucker for hair.

Also, is it just me, or does this men's hair remind you of Seomi's "basic men's cut"? Well, she did say it was fairly common in Korea, which would certainly explain it. *nod*
But the hair I linked is a pay hair, it seems. Heh. So is this other men's cut. I don't know why anyone would pay for that one, though-- those little beads on the side look ridiculous!

Gracias senoritas!  Cheesy

Edit: Ugh didn't find anything over there. Maybe someone will do it again and I'll catch them this time xD

It's still there, under "Giving Tree - SIMS 2 ONLY". The thread is entitled "10 Male to Female Conversions of Sshodan's Hairs!!!!"
You've registered and posted a bit, right? I don't recall whether or not the giving tree shows up immediately to new users...
20  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Hooray!!! on: 2007 January 21, 10:48:04
I remember hearing about how hippos have a tendency to interrupt alligators  (or crocodiles? I'm not sure which ones would be in Africa, at the moment) that are doing their "death rolls" on their pray.

The alligator is just rolling, and trying to kill its prey, and rolling, and-- HIPPO. Just bumping into it and throwing it off.

And the alligator is all like "ARGH WTF MATE" and the hippo is like "Yeah. I did that. You wanna make somethin' of it... punk?" And the alligator goes, "Sad n--no sir..." And just has to try again.

Those hippos interrupted my death roll, once, too. It was a sad occasion!
(Is this my admitting to being an alligator or crocodile? Who knows?)
21  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Help with Hair fix - HP officially rocks. :) on: 2007 January 18, 03:46:57
I tried fiddling with that mesh, too, and experienced the same problem-- so it's not you.
To get it to open in MilkShape, I had to export it from SimPE as an OBJ file, then import it into MilkShape as an OBJ file.
But, that didn't seem to work so well when it was time to put it back in the game. (Maybe that's because I tried to be daring, and add animation. Or, more likely, it's because I forgot to put in the comments.)

So, if you try bringing it in as an OBJ, be sure to apply the proper comments!
I think I'm going to try fixing it again, too. The more the merrier, I hope.

Probably something along the lines of public_html, html, public... that tends to be the name of the folders that are on the main website, anyway.

she is one of many creators who specifically say that they don't like female sims or want their things used on female sims (some even specify no fat sims and refuse to make the "fat morph" on their meshes)....and I think all of them would throw the same "hissyfit" if something happened to one of their precious male meshes.
i dont have the ability to test my theory though since i dont know how to convert meshes lol

For what it's worth, some people say "don't use the fat morph" because... well... there is no fat morph (or the fat morph is broken-- I recall seeing a notice to that effect on All About Style). It's more difficult to put one in there, and some people just don't take the trouble.
Maybe there are some people who mean it differently, but generally, it's because they just didn't add it to their mesh.
It doesn't add the transformation automatically-- you have to go in there and move everything out a little by hand. It's not too bad, most of the time, but, as I said, not everyone can take the time to do that (and sometimes, the meshes can be a bit complex, which makes it understandable that they wouldn't want to).

Either way, I liked Sshodan's things (I have a few too many prettyboy Sims in my game for my tastes, but it's not reaching epidemic levels yet), and I'm a bit sad that she's "retiring".
But I still think she's being way too melodramatic. I found her "why am I not featured yet" post to be a bad idea, as well. After all, it's one thing to think "why am I not featured yet", it's another thing entirely to say it.
But this thing? Sure, she's allowed to be upset. The person was rather rude. But, man. It's kind or ridiculous.
Well, that's the way it goes.

To be honest, I have that set of female-to-male conversions. I haven't installed more than one... yet. I may install them for the next time I take pictures, heh.
And I converted her "Guilty" mesh myself, for a Sim. My Sim was supposed to be an alien, trying to make herself look like she blended in. Her source of "normal human clothing"? Magazines from the 80's! Cheesy That "Guilty" hairstyle was perfect for it. Too perfect.
24  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Have the paysite debates changed your mind? on: 2006 December 29, 13:11:26
At first, paysites just bothered me because... well, there was stuff. Nice stuff. And I could not have it.
So, I just looked longingly at pictures people took when they did have it, and left it at that.
The sites themselves didn't bug me. I had kind of a blasé attitude about it. "Sure, let 'em make their money, whatever."
I even considered opening a paysite of my own. (Not, you understand, to be rolling in the BIG MONEY, or anything. It was going to take the profits, and use them to get subscriptions to paysites I really wanted items from. After I had one subscription's worth, I planned on just making things free again.)

When I found this site, though, I was pretty happy. I never thought about something like this, or Sims File Vault. Sure, I figured people shared files with their friends, but sites where the things were just posted? Or you could request and share them with others? I was so pleasantly surprised.
I felt a little uncertain about it, at first, but after reading the EULA bit, most of my apprehension was gone.

I'm not sure what option I'd go under, though. I guess it'd be "paysite supporter turned anti-paysite".
25  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / this makes a lot of sense... on: 2006 December 27, 13:55:29
If she was set as a "retired artist" as Stitches said, it must have changed in the last day or so: GS Emilie at TSR is currently an "Awarded Artist". All of her stuff requires a subscription to download, as well.
Oh, no-- wait. It does require a subscription to download, but she's under "Retired Artist" on the "Retired Artists" page. I guess having "Select Artist" and "Retired Artist" is just another way of saying "they don't make stuff anymore, but people like them too much for us to make them free-- I mean, goodness, man, what would that do to our profits?!"

Either way, it's too bad- I was hoping to get some of it.

I had no idea the owner of Boutique Emilie was also the owner of Get Skintight., though. I missed that site, and had no idea where it had disappeared to.
Guess I didn't care that much, otherwise I would have found it out by now.

I liked Boutique Emilie pretty well, but I'm not so disappointed by its closing.

As for the "I do not want my donation sets to be shared, even though the site is closing" thing, I would guess it was because it might be seen as unfair by the subscribers. "I paid for this, and now they're getting it for free? Outrage!"
Then again, of course, I have my suspicions of her moving to TSR. But, they're just that: suspicions. Basically unfounded! And if I turn out to be wrong, everyone can point and laugh at me.
I'm quite okay with that.
