Dani, I have to ask, where are you from?
Brazil.

NO WAI. I'm Brazilian too! (although living in the US for 4 years now) Judging by the number of members at the orkut communities I know that The Sims is pretty big in Brazil, but it never occurred to me to wonder what they make of this whole paysite thing. I figure most are pro-pirate though  Grin
Completely off topic, but oi meninas! Que bom saber que há brasileiras a bordo do navio pirata Wink
There was a Brazilian site back on The Sims 1 days which had some of the prettiest furniture I've ever seen... they're not around for TS2 although I wish they were. If I recall correctly they were free, but they might have had some donation sets. I can't be sure about it, maybe I just ignored the donation sets as I couldn't pay for them. Also, isn't one of the creators in SimGuys Brazilian?

Oh, man, I've tried Gaia online and I really don't see what the hype's about. It's icky. 'Gaia Online Must Be Destroyed' sounds like a good idea. Smiley

Gaia was fun a couple years ago, before I gave up on it. I was a major addict. Then prices started to inflate like crazy and they started releasing dozens of crappy items that are really just advertising to upcoming movies and such and everybody got pissy and elitist. Even storyline developments and holiday events are downgrading! I remember that first Halloween when we had to fight a zombie apocalypse and everybody was being infected...
I can see why newbies in Gaia don't get it anymore: back in my day we could get a couple of cool items for cheap on our first week of playing, a few rares if we were posting regularly and people in the forums were actually nice. Now... I miss Gaia.

ED: Selling pixels? Back when I was in Gaia the only currency there was was virtual. Sure, you could donate for some special items, but you could equally buy those at the Marketplace for "gold" you earned posting, lurking, etc. I don't recall ever existing an option of buying "gold" for real money (a la IMVU), either.

Ha! I laugh at your general direction. Properly purged and without most of the build items I previously had from dowloading lots my dowloads folder has 18,602 files. Playing the game directly out of the box is, as you see, not an option.

I should look into this Compressorizer, though.

I've never heard of a Peeps before.
Ive never been to America or Canada, so I don't know all of the food stuff from there lol.
I LOVE Hershys, them peanut butter chocolate bar things, Lucky charms(cereal) goobers.
When I lived in Germany, we had an American PX on the camp I lived in, so it sold only american products in $, it was fantastic, I loved it lol.

OMG. My best friend is Azorean and for the first time I went to visit her at home, this Summer. In Azores there are many people who lived long periods of time in the States or in Canada and by the time some of them come back they're so used to American products that they're willing to pay good money for them. Some of them open little shops where they're sold; one of the things they have is peanut butter chocolate, which is not something we're used to see in the shelves of normal stores. I tried it for the first time this Summer... I don't know how I ever lived without it.

Ugh. The first post. That's reflexsims, right? When I first discovered this site, I was under the delusion that paystuff was superior. No basis for that belief, other than the assumption that money makes everything magically better.

So I go into a shitstorm of downloading, and can't wait to get all the stuff in game. Imagine how perplexed-- perplexed I was when I saw how shitty it was in game.

I had to delete almost everything. I was the MOST let down by the reflexsims stuff. OH, that stuff is beautiful---- ON THE REFLEX SITE ONLY.

Same here. Before I knew about the booty I used to promise myself that when I got a credit card the first thing I'd do was to raid ReflexSims and download every set (although it might have sounded a bit like "baaaaaa"). Theirs was also the first objects that I ARRed from the booty (the Pearl set and the Art Studio, if I'm not mistaken) just to find out that it bled through walls/had weird grid schemes (like a three tile desk or a wall mirror that would hang 1 grid away from the wall at all occasions)/looked generally shitty in game.
This thread is a wonderful idea. We should spread the word around in the community: if you absolutely MUST buy CC it's always good to know what are you really going to pay for.

Oh, I know. I have a sister too; I could be holding the ultimate Truth in my hands and she still wouldn't listen.

Souvenirs - you're right, and not just in clothing: younger and younger teens are beinge encouraged to act like adults more and more often. My sister has friends who wear commitment rings at the age of 14/15, have virginity-loss pacts for their 16th birthday and so on. Some of them get designer bags for their birthdays (whereas I, at 24, have never owned one), even when their parents are not stinkin'rich. Makes me feel really old that I used a backpack for school until I was like, 18.

LadyDea, your sister is 15, she's starting to be self-conscious about the way she looks. I started wearing make-up (nothing too fancy, foundation and lip gloss mainly) when I was 14; in fact, my mother bought me my first make-up kit. I was not trying to cast off any kind of sexual innuendo, I was just trying to look "prettier". The way I see it there is a big difference between a set of jeans aimed for 10-year-olds with "Bootylicious" written on the ass with glitter and a teenager wearing make up.
Of course, if you mean teenagers that wear heavy eye make up and black lipliner to school, that's slightly different. I guess.

Well, it helps that Scientology isn't a religion, fhat cat. Wink

Okay, I have suffered many atrocities from Chaz in silence but what is up with those eyes? Could they be any more cardboard-like? If cardboard was able to eat souls, I mean. They are seriously frightening.

It's official, I'm clueless. I'm so sorry, Herman. Cheesy Anouk, thanks for stopping me before I committed the second faux-pas of the evening.

...ugh, now I feel stupid. xD it'd be easier if my celebs went by one name only though. My brain capacity is limited that way. Thanks!
it's dudette btw. Grin

Herman, what's your name in MTS2? I'd really like to check out the rest of your stuff while waiting for the new awesome shirts.
43  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: New paysites: Habitat43 on: 2008 April 04, 22:51:20
Holy crap, 60 euros??? For that??? *sticks head in toilet and flushes. Looks back at PC screen. Sacrilegious info is still there.*
Not to mention that naming your website Habitat43 makes it sound like there were 42 Habitat sites and they just had to cope. Kind of like getting a new YouTube account.
I honestly hope they're not getting any subs. Apart from the fact that the furniture is ugly - taking a stab at being minimalistic-modern and missing the target - and that they're pilfering for extra euros in the vilest way possible, they run a paysite and stuff. And pay sites must die.
