But comparing Tomass to Jim Jones seems over the top to me.

It's also inaccurate. Thomass is NOT charismatic.

Tell that to Atwa.

Obviously Thomass does have a certain level of charisma, the amount of a small-time con artist. It doesn't take a lot, but it does take some, to get even dumb people to believe your lies at first. Of course, once you've got people hooked, most of them will do your job for you. They believe in you because if they stopped, they feel they would have to stop believing in themselves.

Darqstar, I'm sorry, but you're wrong. Just because your company is hiring that doesn't mean other companies throughout the country are hiring. 2-4 people a month doesn't put much of a hole in the unemployment problem anyway. There are tons of applicants for every position, and skilled people can't get jobs at places like McDonald's because they're rejected for being overqualified. That's when the local McDonald's is hiring in the first place, which around here, they aren't. And it's not like McDonald's would pay the bills for people with houses and families anyway; they're better off on unemployment and looking for work than working for minimum wage.

Just how low are people supposed to stoop for a job, anyway? I could go dance at a topless bar and get paid well, but I am not going to do that.

Free creators update all the time. There's always something interesting just at MTS2. It's not like people only download from ONE creator.

She's also pretending downloaders don't create. And that modifying meshes to plop into a game is sooo haaarrrdd. She's not working in a salt mine. If it's soooo haaaarrrrdd, she needs to stop. She needs to get a real job anyway.

It's really ludicrous how the FAs all cluster around Thomas to defend him when he's constantly thinking of new ways to screw them sideways.

Nice bit of schadenfreude for you pirates via coconut. FAs have taken a huge cut in their pay - over half of their pay in all of the cases, and over three quarters in some of the cases depending on the age of the item.  Thomass decided that it was a sheer outrage to have them earning money for older items, when they could be earning a great deal less. So he keeps it forever, still selling it at the same price, but FAs get less money than they ever did before! That's what I call an effective employee retention technique. Cheesy

How are FAs reacting to this? Is there any protest at all, or is it just "thank you sir may I have another?"

82  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: New License agreement, what do you think? on: 2009 June 10, 18:33:28
While I think this belongs in the Sharkbait area, I'll respond because it is a valid discussion, at least in my opinion.

I've always had a problem with eulas that are not printed on the outside of the box.  They take your money then have all these conditions and the like and it pisses me off.  If I buy something, its mine.  I do not have a bunch of conditions when I buy a music cd, a purse, yarn, needles and the like - and if I buy a gun, the conditions are up front at time of purchase.  It bothers me that the makers of computer software seem to think they are above this and that charging us 50$ for a computer program is a rental and an excuse for them to slip spyware into our machines.

I keep waiting for some lawsuit to come along and have the eulas deemed illegal or unconstitutional on some level.

Makes more sense to have them when you install the game than on the box! I don't have any issues with the way things are done except that the paysites get to still make money. I think they should just make it right or make it wrong.

It's wrong. No EULA in the world will change that.

It makes more sense for it to be on the box. Once you open the game you usually can't take it back; it's absurd that consumers have to commit their money before reading the contract. I don't understand why there hasn't been a lawsuit about it either, unless it's because EULAs arent worth much anyway.

Just wondering; what sort of qualifications must you have to become worthy of a cult?

A bunch of crazy people who like the things you make for a game and therefore want to worship you because you are capable of modding and have a bit of artistic talent, apparently.

Have I mentioned lately how much I despise the whole "zomg I LOOOVVVEEE YOU" crap in the Sims community?

Someone made a mod for Oblivion that allows people to move the sliders more. Perhaps someone will do that with Sims 3 too. All the Sims look exactly the same, even the best ones that people are proud of. They have the same bone structure. Edit: Someone's already started with fixing the sliders. http://linna.modthesims.info/download.php?t=344369

Yes, it would have hurt them to put in more sliders: it would have made the game harder to port to consoles.

All Sims 3 Sims seem to have exactly the same cheekbones.

It looks like Sarah Palin mated with ET and the devil. I hate the woman, but I'm not sure even she deserves this.

The first one is also ugly, but in an incredibly bland way. I think that might actually be worse -- ugliness plus laziness. Her upper lip is doing some kind of slightly interesting mutation toward the intriguing side of the hideousness scale, however.
87  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Your Ugliest Paysite Creation Find: Round Two. on: 2009 June 07, 00:02:35
Oh joy, it looks like Sims 3 is going to give TSR even more potential for fugly than Sims 2 did.

I don't know Inge enough to judge, but just hearing this it sounds like she is trying to be on both sides.

She does that. No matter how many "sides" there are, Inge will somehow end up in a pretty good spot with all of them. It's kind of an impressive thing to watch.
89  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Your Ugliest Paysite Creation Find: Round Two. on: 2009 June 03, 07:45:44
That thing is fucking hideous. I don't even know why I think it's so utterly appalling, it just is. It's all blocky and the texture is virtually nonexistent and the candles have no point and  it's symmetrical but the placement of the candles isn't and ARGH. DOT gives me immense pain.

Oh, also, there is no fucking way a bunch of candles stuck against the wall in that horrible object follows the goddamn "lamp law", which yes I looked up and read because of stupid batshit insane DOT.
90  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: TSR: In Ur Accounts, Deletin Ur Stuffs! on: 2009 June 02, 20:11:55
However, Inge has always played both sides.  She can't decide where her loyalties lie, and changes her mind due to fluctuations in barometric pressure or something.  I'm grateful to her for the mods she's created, but I don't trust her at all.

I trust Inge to put out interesting mods that work, and fix them if they don't. The only big Sims modder I trust as a human being is twojeffs.

(By the way, I love the "it was decided" part of her post. Beautiful.)
