The template I use, the only editing it needed to make it look simmy, was just change the top picture, heheh  However the inner workings, to make it more like a CMS, took ages of searching and finding scripts, hacks, plugins, etc. Poo-eee :cry: Even the side navigation bar did not unfold, needed some css for that. And I don't even know css. I still don't. It works though. Heck, I would use a CMS if I could find some decent themes. You did a great job on that navigation, Nouk. Good work. |

SparklePlenty, may I ask which WordPress Plugins you use on your site? I love how it's organized. All I have is All in one SEO, which I hardly ever use. The template accepts widgits, but I don't even think I have any of those. My categories were all done by hand. I half the time forget to categorize my posts. Trying to do better. I am thinking about changing the template anyway. :lol: Okay, thanks, I was hoping you had found some nifty plugin that did all that categorizing. I haven't upgraded to 2.3x yet so I'm not using widgets either (Can you use widgets with 2.2? I don't know). I always check to see if a theme is widgit-ready and I prefer those that are. What I like about Nouk's site is that it is so beautifully personalized. I haven't shopped for a new theme recently, and I would love to find one that was easy for me to simify! |

Well I'd certainly love to hunt down some good freebies for the endeavor. I haven't been on the BBS in ages though (2004ish?). I had a snafu with Pogo/EA regarding my user name back when EA first took them over and it's never been resolved (in fact they haven't bothered to answer any of the 20 emails I've sent them about it since 2002). It bugs me to not be "millahnna" somewhere other than TWoP (TV site).
I didn't know those mirrors used to be free. I think for me, that somehow makes it worse. Hey! I frequent the forums at TWop! Especially Amazing Race. Anyway, those mirrors DID used to be free, but thank goodness they are on the booty. |

i've had an idea
i'm in the process of making a (probably monthly, gives me time to scour for new content) catalogue of sorts (the kind you might recieve from a furniture store/department store etc) of beautiful free/maxis content.
there is such a huge amount of free custom content available and so much of it is gorgeous, and people just don't get to see it or dismiss it as being rubbish (because it's free!).
i had this idea in the shower (lol) to make something that was visually great to show people that FREE content doesn't have to mean SHIT content. (because i know that a lot of people think this way)
it'd be designed beautifully, and displayed on a website and/or like a downloadable pdf. it would obviously have all the links to everything in the pictures, so the freesites get a looot of love from us all.
does this sound like a good idea or a shit one??? That aint a bad idea. Great for your first post. I think the best place to advertise this would be in general discussion on the bbs, (I wouldn't normally advocate using the bbs but in this case, it is where most of the paysite sheep hang out). Something like, 'Out now, edition one, free site catalogue, get the best content here'. That does sound like fun. It would be great if it was slick and elegant and regularly updated. Sounds like a full time job, actually. I would be available to help on an occassional basis. |

It's my new nickname, in accordance to 'fanmails' I got... what's wrong with it :lol: Nouk/Anouk/Jan: I really like your new Wordpress blog. Glad to see others using a blog for their site designs. It really makes thing easy, I have always thought. That's why I use one.  (Plus you can change "clothes" daily, if you like.) |

You're right, it would be a massive project, and it is hard to care enough right now to tackle something like what you describe.
I have always thought that a site where people could bring a pay item to you and you could tell them where to get a similar free item instead. But then I thought, some people will use the site to locate pay items so they could buy them. How would you know which pay items are sought-after? There are always cons to any pro you come up with. Besides, the Booty serves a similar purpose...providing a place to actually get the pay items for free. And besides, there are plenty of sites offering lists and directories of free content. So no need to invent the wheel again.

Aww.. <3 TY all.
I'm not THAT good yet.. for Maxis I don't think. lol
At least, I need more meshing practice. I graduated from Sheridan Tech classical animation program though. So it's not like I have no art training. Although my problem is I never got the 3D animation in my college program.. so I am trying hard to learn that myself. ^^ I quit drawing for so long.. so I'm using sims to get back into it. But it's really helping with my 3D knowledge and my digital painting.
I actually am looking to get a career in the gaming or animation industry (as I've got a diploma that says I should....) But I've been very nervous about it though, so all this modding is helping my confidence a little. Well, you are going to have an awesome portfolio to show when you hit the pavement. "I shall follow your future career with interest." (In the words of many an elderly mentor. :wink: ) |
