The point isn't about whether the information is available or not. The point is that regardless of who's information you're sharing this should NOT be done an a phorum where every 12 year old with a grudge can harass someone.
Furthermore, this whole topic was just an idiotic attempt by the morons at TSR to "feed" us someone they thought we would damage. We do have moral standards and we destroy paysites not people. And by the way giving someone's personal info (even their damned phonenumber!) over the intrawebs makes you less than scum.
Gotta a grudge? Find a mature way to bite back. Better yet, got a grudge about pixels someone is "stealing" from you? Don't shout too loud incase the sheep find out you're stealing from them.

What I find particularly offensive about it is not just that the information was shared (although that's offensive enough). The part that really turned my stomach was that ulkhsn didn't act like any normal, sane, mature person would and request that the phone numbers be edited out of the thread. Instead of behaving like a rational human being, they canvassed the idea of harassing phone calls.

Sadly, it's been proven over time that those who hold the FA positions at T$R aren't as smart as the average bear, they're more greedy than Scrooge, and have the morals of most politicians in an election year. There is nothing sane or rational left within these people, as shown by some of their creations that they expect the masses to pay for.
Outing someone because you suspect them of working against you is just wrong. Discussing the act of calling them to harass them is just sick. Sending them something in the mail is just rotten. But, these are all things that I wouldn't doubt they'd thought about at one time at another. Greed is truly one of the most corrosive of the Deadly Sins.

And just because info is public doesnt mean it should be shared (especially for strictly malicious reasons as in the TSR case). We have never condoned it here and as an example some of you might remember during the huge Batshit Crazy Jan thread when someone (I think it may have been Sparkle Plenty) posted Jan's whois info and was promptly ripped for it. We all demanded that it be removed and even though we couldn't stand Jan we knew that ostng the info was wrong. IIRC, that was when the FAQ had that part added.
(I lurk alot and post a little but I remember way too much).
