31  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Ea makes statement March 2 making paysites ok? on: 2009 March 03, 02:04:25
The situation's pretty simple as far as I'm concerned.

There has been no change to the one document that matters in all of this: The EULA.

A badly-worded statement full of "should"s and plzes do not alter the fact the original EULA still stands, TSR are breaking the terms of the EULA, and we are not doing a damned thing wrong.

We have an expression in the UK, about pissups and breweries, and EA cannot organise a pissup in a brewery. It's that simple.

Yep, it was Sherrie. Another one who's vanished from the phorum in recent times Sad

I can't wait to see Coconut's take on this!

"The Sims Team" could be anyone. Even a figment of MaxoidDrea's imagination.

Double-posting but relevent:

Littletoes mentioned this before the thread was split:

http://bbs.thesims2.ea.com/community/bbs/messages.php?threadID=17989d983b8aa06886b13273b94f2387&directoryID=2&startRow=1&openItemID=item.2,item.43,item.61,item.104,item.41,item.127,item.23

Basically, the EULA remains unchanged, but we should respect the wishes of paysites... And they have to respect our wishes too!

Is it me, or is that lamp not giving off any light? It looks like one of those Sims 2 Store bork jobs.

From what I've observed, the Goslings aren't entirely big on being mean.  They actually seem to think that the Pirates and MATYians are a pack of tosspots because of how we carry on (the whole lurk moar and ripping into any and all n00b meanness thing).  The T$R gang are million times meaner.  So where that silly little turkey got the idea that Goslings were being mean to her I have no idea.

Yeah, I lasted about a day in there before switching back into lurk mode. The Sim Secret thread over there was a bit of an eye-opener though. Sometimes (speaking personally here), we can be too insular and trapped in our own bubble, and not realise we're actually scaring potential members away with the infighting and our tendancy to jump on anyone who steps slightly out of line.

I don't know if IE7 allows you to specify a minimum font size in preferences (don't use IE7 myself), but Firefox allows you to, and it's proven useful for tackling GoS's small fonts, and those posts here when people switch to a small font size mid-sentence. I've got mine set to 9.

LDG can go cry a river and take a long swim in it.

Maybe he's eying up a move to TSR?

Wow, can't wait to see how long it takes to take that down.

EDIT:
Ok, we all know EA Games CEO is an idiot, but he has just done something even worse. IN a recent article he says that it is a blessing the rescission came into the gaming industry in 2008. His reason, "The riffraff" will go bankrupt. That's a positive event in his eyes because it's difficult to compete with shelves choked by substandard games." Look who is talking, look at what EA Games has don't to The Sims, it is a substandard game, and he wants other companies with games like that to go out of business.

If you want to read the article, here is the link. http://www.gamespot.com/news/6204915.html?part=rss&tag=gs_news&subj=6204915

I read the same thing on Eurogamer. That bloke's a AAA arsehole.

Not to worry though. Let's see how EA rides out the recession after they've been slammed with those five lawsuits.

Yes, but the daft thing about the movie-making tools is that the machinima artists had a hard time using them, largely because they had no control over their sims or their free will. I reckon the movie-making tools will only be of any real use to the sixes who seem to think that getting raped, abused or "pregnat/pregnet/pegnet/pegnit" (only four of the spellings for "pregnant" I came across on the Exchange in the past) is something to aspire to on the Exchange. In fact, I predict a flood of these types of videos hitting the Exchange on release day.

Ah, bugger. And to think I've just gone out of my way to update my BBS sig to give tsr.mustbedestroyed.org even more prominence!  Tongue

Mind you, I don't post there much, so no-one will see it...

I'm pretty sure that when that one braincell kicks in... Izazu could be pretty dangerous - to herself.
