The reason that the threads have been deleted were because that news article was posted and it contains Delphy's real full name.  I think you're fine so long as we don't get to that again Smiley

You would not have access to read PMs, Discord Smiley

There are a couple ways to do it...You can pull up a PM off the database, so only thoes with database access can do it this way.  It is also possible to alter and delete them, though I have never done this.

Also, on VB (The software that both my site and MTS2 and S2C uses, there is a plug in available that makes PMs easily readable in the admin CP to anyone who has an admin account.  I know we like to think that we have our privacy, but privacy on the net really doesn't exist.

My feelings on the matter?  I don't believe it is an admins or moderators privilege to read through members private messages at will. although I understand why the capability can be useful because there have been times when, as a staff member, users have come to me with a complaint about PM harassment.  At this time I do think it is justified to look at the offending message or messages to help decide what action should be taken.

As a staff member I can say with 100% certainty that I have never heard any mention of such an act - not that it was done, not about what was said in PM's, not about actions being taken against users due to stuff said in PM's - nothing at all. If it is happening, there's only one person doing it and no one else is involved, period. I've sent PM's myself that would be very frowned upon but nothing has ever happened to me.

People who know me can attest I'm the first person to speak up when something seems wrong, I don't try to bury shit or sweep it under the rug. If it was going on, I wouldn't approve of it and I would be very vocal about it.

So like I said, if it is going on (which I do not for a moment believe - present me with factual evidence and not "oh but it said it was there and it wasn't" stuff that anyone could say, true or not - and I might change my tune) it's one person, no one else knows (because if anyone did, they would say something and it would get around - believe me) and it's not being shared. I have to agree that noone would have any interest in reading BlackKat's PM's anyway. No one on staff bothers to mention her.

And as for how people know, the majority of the posters/registered users here are using fake names - no one can be sure who is behind any of the unknown names and they might very well know for a fact.

As for your first comment:  I had the same experience as a staff member...I heard people talk about it and I would have the same response...I knew it was *possible* to read PMs on a VB forum how ever if anyone had made any accusations of it (Which neear the end of my time on staff, some of my friends *did* make accusations of vanishing PMs and   privacy in their PMs being invaded)...I would and did say that although I knew it was possible I'd never heard anything of it...Members PMs were not discussed in staff areas, and no staff member ever admitted to having read any PM-at least in my presence.

Then, a few months after I left the site for good I got myself a new e-mail address.  I occasionally checked my mail at my old address and on two separate occasions I received e-mail notifications of PMs at MTS2...the first time I signed in and saw that there was no new PM, and one of the old PMs I thought was still there was gone (However I'd not signed in for a while so I cannot be certain of this) the second time there was no new PM just like the last time.  I've now signed out for good...and it has been months since my last e-mail notification-but my account has been inactive for some time so I am not at all suprised.

And as for you DiscordKitty...I have friends who are still active at S2C and from what I hear you're a good moderator.  Shame I never got to know you Smiley

It doesn't matter what you send to the girl, PM it or not. Chances are she won't get it. Maybe if you can get her email address off her profile...

How do I know? MTS2 will read whatever PM they feel like reading. I know because I have sent PMs via MTS2 then sent PMs on another site about the MTS2 message and lo and behold, that person never got the MTS2 PM.....

JM can attest to lack of privacy on MTS2 since he had a private chatroom talk evedropped on long ago.

Privacy is not to be had at MTS2, or even here or I would guess anywhere.....

Huh, interesting. I'll email her then.

That's totally untrue, I've never had any of my "bad" PM's go missing or anything out of the ordinary

So it's "tottally untrue" because it's never happened to you, although it has happened to others?  mmhhmm

I have gotten PM notification e-mails from MTS2...and then...no PM.  I am banned from S2C but not MTS2...but now I have stopped signing in.  Why was I banned?  I could tell you if they told me.  Oh, and it's entirely (easily) possible to read PMs on a forum on VB software...my forum runs off it too.

I am so laughing at that second post...

Illegal?  So it is illegal for EA to have a download of an item on their site which they own the copyright of?...um...yeah...

And to the girl in the second post (As this is how it usually works)  I suppose her way of making herself feel better about downloading these items is by riding around on a moral high horse and bitching at everyone else for it?

Glad someone finally spelled it out for them

Now apparently InSim is also censored:

http://www.forums.sims2community.com/showthread.php?t=28548

Type in the web addy at S2C and all you get is a bunch of astericks
23  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / nice message on: 2006 November 07, 02:25:56
Filesharing has been around since the days of the original sims 1 as well.  EA has never done a thing about it, so shall we assume they condone it?

Delphy did his own...it's been edited 5 times.  Lyric's was done by someone else.  (Superfly)

No, it's because it's a private site, and Delphy's word is law...So if according to Delphy, these things are Intellectual Property, than they are.

At least he's more honorable than Lyric

As a former staff member over there, I can argue that *cough*

Though on the forums themselves...he appears more honorable.

Why do Lyric and Delphy get their own pages but daysies doesn't?  She's an admin too.

I dunno why Lizard thinks his IP matches Lyric's. It doesn't. Not at all.

The same reason he thinks Lyric lives in Holland?

What is message you giving ?
When you can't buy it , you steal it .

That's not it at all...We buy our clothes, we buy our food, we bought the computers we're on right now, and the very expensive games and expansions...

We just don't think that paysite owners have a legal right to charge for something that EA legally owns.
29  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / nice message on: 2006 November 07, 01:11:06
You don't have the same IP address as LyricLee...also, LyricLee lives the USA...

As far as the banning?  Many members of this site have been banned simply for *mentioning* this site elsewhere, or for having accounts here.

It might not be such a good idea for people to click a link from this site directly to that site.  I'm just sayin.

I copy-paste them into a new tab.  No referrals Smiley
