And Lizard, you're completely ignoring the whole reason that the files are hosted here in the first place (as was mentioned by Nouk): Sims 2 files aren't permitted to be sold at all under any circumstance. Breaking the law is still breaking the law, regardless if you try to "compromise" with people or not.

It's nice that you're at least trying to be civil this time around, but I'm afraid that there's really no middle ground in this issue that I can see.

Somewhere around the fourth page he mentions that it wasn't just him who wrote it though. Wink

Let's hope he didn't have to pay someone to embellish it a bit. Wink

Not that there would be anything wrong with that.

To all the TSR supporters that have recently arrived, I would like to sum up my position on this matter that has (in my view) been needlessly complicated by some: *ahem*

Why should I respect the wishes of paysite creaters/owners that their items are not distributed (or recolored, whathaveyou) when they themselves cannot hold themselves to that very same standard (refusing to honor EA Games' EULA that their items are distributed noncommercially)? If, as some of you state, EULAs are not legally binding, it can at the very least be considered an official request from the company that actually created the game in question from scratch to not profit off of their creation. You want to talk about moral standards? I personally refuse to heed anything unrepentant hypocrites choose to preach about.

And incidentally, on the issue of the EULA, choosing to disregard/disrespect it simply because it doesn't support your profiteering off of someone else's copyrighted creation is rather petty and childish (and not at all a valid strategy).

The people that really irritate me to no end are those that choose to try to use the 'moral superiority' card to act like they're "above" people who disagree with them, which was why Dr. Pixel's attitude was such a let-down (why does being a parent mean that you're automatically right anyways? That's what his attitude appeared to be to me). Posturing and moralizing with no actual logic and facts to back you up does nothing to add to a debate (and yes, file-sharing Sims 2 custom content is a debate, not a ''OMG WHAT YOU'RE DOING IS WRONG!' hysterical reaction).

I smell bullshit too - but it's not coming from Delphi.

Since when did Delphy become a Greek town?  :?

You shouldn't expect much from TSR people.. They're either getting heavily paid by TSR or complete gimps for giving all their creator rights to TSR to be heavily profited on.  In both cases the idea of free stuff either threatens their profits or make them look like idiots.  Theres no grand crusade against paysites here, just some people that want to take a shot at the scum of the community.

The odd thing about Dr. Pixel is that some of the stuff he offers on TSR as pay items he actually has on his own site for free. I'm not quite sure what that says about him and his viewpoint, but I'm still going to disagree with him not only about his position on this issue, but also the way he went about expressing it.

And one more time for your benefit, Dr. Pixel, a lot of the people frequenting this site are choosing not to subscribe at these sites and never had any intention to in any case. Why are you getting so upset?

A quick point:

Quote from: "tIIsuggas"
Some people give money to paysites because they know no different.  They don't know about the EULA terms, they don't know paysites are possible breaking EA's terms.

They aren't "possibly" breaking the terms, they are breaking them.

I agree, BlueSoup. It really disrupts the flow of things.

Does anyone have a problem with subtly blinking avatars (such as mine)? If enough people complain, I'll just remove it.

Almost everyone here is not paying them; that's why they're pissed off.

I heared somewhere that the point of EULAs is not about the mechanical installation itself on more than one pc, but about the simultaneous use of the software.

I mean: if I have the same game/OS/whatever installed on more than one computer, BUT I can use only one of them at the time, it's legal: if you have the game on a desktop pc and on a laptop, but you play only one of them, it's ok. If another person plays on desktop pc while you are playing on laptop, is illegal.

I'd imagine that the reason that would be illegal is that one of them would require a No-CD Crack to operate (unless I'm mistaken), so I think you might be correct there.

I saw this exact same question asked and answered on MATY, so I am pretty sure SnugglySim has her answer.

Well, let that be a lesson to all of us: don't try to help anyone here.

SnugglySim, with all due respect, if you don't want to take the time to do what you're asking properly, then don't bother asking at all. I can help you to do what you want, but you are going to have to use SimPE. The instructions are simple and easy to understand (I've even included pictures in my tutorial that I'm going to link you to).

First of all, PirateBooty has posted some fairly straightforward instructions on how to change the genetics of features (hair, eyes, etc.) in the game as a whole (as in, making the eyes/hair/skins genetically dominant/recessive for everyone and not just your one Sim), so if you want to change the dominincy/receccivity of the hairs in the game in general (and not just for the one Sim), go ahead and do that first.

Secondly, I have written up a tutorial for changing the genetics of NPCs which might help you out (it's found here). However, to simplify things, here's what you can do:

1. Clone the Sim (since you mention this, I assume you know how to do this).
2. Create the Sim in CAS (making certain to give her the custom hair so that it'll be considered dominant when you create her), leave her in the SimBin in the appropriate neighborhood and then exit the game.
3. Start on step 5 in my tutorial that I've linked you to (and end at Step 14). This will allow you to keep everything the same and will give you the means to make her custom hair the genetic property for her.*

The nice part is that in your case, you won't have to use SimSurgery, since she already looks the way you want her to look.

Good luck.

*In fact, I think you'll only need to copy/paste the one line, as the Hair's the only genetic property you want to change, yes?

The Sims 2 community (in general; not necessarily the forum by that name) seems to harbor a disproportionate number of attention whores and whiners. I can think of at least one other forum (named Shoo Flee) that made a big dramatic exit, citing personal reasons for shutting the place down, which is all well and good (they soaked up the adulation from the masses and basked in the glow of the plaintive wails to remain open); however, in their final three weeks or so, the moderators there caused (and incited) so much drama there that arguments would break out over the most innocent comments. Insults were made; bans were levied. It wasn't pretty. However, apparently not even a month after they "closed down for good," they're back up and running again. So much for their 'pressing personal issues.'

No wonder Sims 2 players have such a piss-poor reputation in the gaming community at large and some are ashamed to be seen buying the game. Yeesh.
