1  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Insim under new management! on: 2008 November 28, 01:55:16
In case it goes off the site:

Insim information according to http://www.dealasite.com. Have Kathy and Eric been lying about needing donation this whole time?

$3200 in $500 going out.  $2700 income a month /  $32k a year.  So are Eric and Kathy a couple (do they live together with that shared income), or are they splitting that, and did they have any other jobs?  Again if people think they ran Insim fulltime without getting a paycheck....its a little naive. You can't pay for a house and food with Simoleons.

hmmm what a weird development.  I can't blame Kathy and Eric for wanting to sell the forum

I can. I do. And I hope people slash and burn, rather than sitting around being screwed by some jackass and "hoping" everything will somehow turn out right.

Couldn't someone from the site set up a refuge site for the people who left, and bring the things they liked about Insim to it?

No shit Sherlock, as we said in 5th grade. I don't think anyone here thinks we're talking about nuclear war. That doesn't mean it's not a big deal.

lol. Kathy and Eric saw the ending credits on the site and sold it to an interested party who was willing to pay for what he likely thought was a still thriving site.  No doubt that Insim contributions and ads went to the roofs above their heads as well. Sounds like they got the better part of the deal and a nice severance check.

I'm sure Insim refugees can put together a good competition for it and put together a thriving forum.  Can they do so completely free and how long will people want to spend on Sims 2 mods, content, and discussion after Sims 3 comes out?

PS I don't consider slash & burning taking the content you made and uploaded to the site and leaving with it or even yelling at the new mgmt and quitting.  I do if people want to lock others accounts or access out, delete other's content, or do similar destructive acts. That's quite a bit more unethical and unwarranted.  Might as well hack or do DOS attacks on paysites if you live by those standards.

hmmm what a weird development.  I can't blame Kathy and Eric for wanting to sell the forum as it had likely run its course and yet was worth something to sell to someone who thought he could make it reasonably profitable.  While its strange not to aid in the transition but sell and run they may have wanted to avoid the drama (as has obviously occurred). Still its a weird time to buy a site for a game that's basically dying.  Sounds like they may have gotten the better side of the deal.

Whether Insim become TSR with better creators or even runs a paid subscription will be interesting to see (doubtful). Of course with all the server issues on MTS and difficulties paying for Insim I can't blame any party for wanting to improve the site performance / make it financially sustainable at the same time.  I know that might mean its a paysite in many people's eyes here but on the other hand even charities have paid employees.  If people think their donations to Red Cross don't go to employee wages, building improvements, events as much as the charities themselves they'd be kiddign themselves. If this guy's not a Sims fan then he clearly want to be getting enough from his investment to live off it (as I'm sure Kathy and Eric wanted the same at one point) so he'll be the one paid employee.  Whether mods will continue to work for free (why they do in the first place is always what surprises me) or even stick around should be interesting.

Just hope people don't take a slash & burn technique to leaving as it would be even a ruder move to piss on the community right before leaving.  I can certainly understand if people took their sections and left or gave up their moderating with new mgmt.  Still life will go on as it always does.
4  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / What's your view on 'filesharing' on the Exchange. on: 2007 August 05, 01:06:39
were your skins "Detailed"?  I think that's a deal breaker for them.  then again I don't now how much they pick uploads apart?
5  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / What's your view on 'filesharing' on the Exchange. on: 2007 August 04, 23:49:25
I guess I need to find people on the exchange that have Pets or Seasons (that have patched too).  I downloaded about 15 sims i saw (just registered there about 2 weeks ago for the hell of it) and only about 2 showed up as they were missing meshes i guess.

Again as stated lots of entries said "no meshes" but they needed them of course.  Lots of pay hair (but no meshes). Maybe if you get them from Pets or Seasons users then it could possibly be worth it.

If I don't have Pets or Seasons (I have Nightlife and Univ) will i bork my game if import them in?  It will if its a Lot but how about a Sim??

I have no idea if they receive payment at TSR based on downloads or if its a flat fee.  Either way TSR is set up for a single subscription price so maybe getting a flat rate payment and having same items for free works out for them and dosen't make them feel like such a jerk....  :?

Hang in there Delphy we love you.      Smiley

I don't think we'll see Neptune Suzy anymore, the few odd people stopped complimenting her "pleasant" demeanor and she still won't answer the obvious questions.  What a loss.

They're still pulling that crap? TSR=No shame.

Here's her response:
ModTheSims has hacks which allow teen sims to become pregnant with alien babies and also have adult wants and wants to woohoo. ModTheSims also hosts anatomically correct skintones. TSR does not support the use of anatomically correct skintones or the use of mods allowing teens to woohoo or become pregnant.

Dear god I can't believe how lame those TSR forums are!  Only a step above in knowledge above the Ea forums but more retentive.  I answered a few posts for people who were looking for Bodyshop skinning help and a replacement for the hacked clothes rack and all my links to Mod the Sims were deleted due to it being a link to an adult site.

Frickin ridiculous!!!!

I did see a few CC designers who i want to check out who do appear to have decent free content.
11  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / I'm sharing a pay site thought and some history... on: 2007 July 13, 19:12:07
LOLZ

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Lunaris.  As a fellow hentai fan and pron collector its nice to hear about others in the Sim community. I'm currently running a month old blog site at merging the two interests, bookmarking my own searches for content and sites, and trying to attract interest in the Sims 2 from these "outside communities" due to its wide appeal and modding ability.

http://sims2unlimited.blogspot.com/index.html in case you are interested.

Sorry to here you got interested through Sims CC thru paysites first.  I didn't run into the same situation but I can see how others have, that's the biggest danger with paysites.   Cheesy
12  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: OFFICIAL THANK YOU THREAD on: 2007 July 12, 21:48:29
So glad to finally run into a place that shares the pay stuff for free. I just knew there had to be people out there who were sharing this for the love of the game and I'm glad to have finally found you guys.

Keep fighting the war and we'll keep supporting you.
