When I reported the mesh, I had to laugh when I saw a message along the lines of "thanks for keeping TSR a friendly place!" Does Sweden's definition of "friendly" deviate so radically from the standard definition of the word? Or just TSR's?

I'm really more of a lurker but I've been following this since it started and I just read the TSR statement, which left me with a few questions:

1. Does anyone know what buggybooz's account name on TSR was? I've searched for both the name buggybooz and the names of her items on TSR and found nothing, which leads me to believe she used an entirely different name there. In that case,
2. How did this supposed hacker who stole the FA database connect buggybooz's account on TSR with the account on MTS2? Also,
3. AFAIK buggybooz is not an FA at TSR, so if only the FA passwords were stolen the "hacker" could not have gotten hers.
4. How did the hacker connect Thomas to the Hamilton account on MTS2?
5. Why would Thomas use his TSR password on MTS2 as well?

There's also the matter of simsecret and Sinthe's account being hacked into.
6. Does Sinthe use the same account name on TSR and LJ?
7. Was Sinthe an FA there?

Answering 6 & 7 now because I've been at work all night!

6. Yes, my display name on TSR and my username on LJ were (because my first TSR account was banned after they broke into my journal) both Sinthe. The passwords for both sites were also the same (yes, I know it's stupid!).

7. No, I was not. I'm a crappy artist... maybe I could be someday!  Grin The extent of my involvement on TSR has always been downloading free content, since I like some of the SA's there. I've never submitted any media, nor have I posted on their forums (to my recollection). My TSR password couldn't have been compromised if they had a security breach only affecting FA's or whatever the details of that particular lie are.

If anyone should want more evidence, here is the screen I took of my LJ's logins after it was hacked. The entries with blue dots next to them are not me.

Sinthe, the link isn't working.  http://pics.livejournal.com/sinthe/pic/0000pga6 <-- This one does though  Grin

Well, at least that works! I'm kinda angry right now. Thanks, Darqstar!

D has retired from major duties of day-to-day drudgery on the site - fixing accounts, setting up new forums, that kind of thing, and has me and Tig to do that, as well as a great team of staff to do the rest of the stuffs.  MTS2 isn't being phased out or discontinued at all - there probably won't be a huge amount of new major features on it, but it's sticking around, and who knows, might even get expanded to offer some sort of TS3 stuff, even though TS3 will suck.

I don't know - i have faith that the community will make it fun - even without the ability to make new neighborhoods.

That's what I'm counting on. I'm not buying it until somebody fixes those faces.

You can use Noscript to get rid of the takeover ad?!

InSim is dying. While I'm glad to see Kathy and Eric gone because they suck, I'm not sure how I feel about its effects.

I'm unlurking to share my identity theft story. Our local high school had its student db hacked a couple years ago & someone stole all my daughter's personal information. This person used her name to open utilities (gas, water, heat, ect. in 5 different cities), cell phone accounts (4), credit cards(10), bank accounts (which had $5000 + in post dated checks) ect. Since she was a minor, no one was monitoring her credit report & she definitely wasn't opening credit cards, so there was no clue this was going on. It all blew up when she tried to get a college loan.

I will say that Visa/Mastercard/Discover have been very helpful in clearing up the accounts opened in her name. It's the collection agencies for all the utilities/bank accounts that have made life hell. I've been fighting with them for almost 8 months with no resolution and my daughter's credit rating is about as bad as it can get. The people that did the hacking didn't just run up credit card debts, they really did take on the identities of the people whose personal information they were able to steal. It's been a living nightmare for my daughter.

So on that note, I hope TSR goes straight down for sharing personal information. It's a very selfish, very childish, very dangerous way to get "revenge".

I've also heard of dishonest parents stealing their children's identities to do the same thing.  Angry I'm saying you are one, but anyone who would do that to their own child....

I hope TSR rots for what they have done.

Heh, my aunt did that to her daughter.

There was some dingbat over on LJ trying to make it seem like this info-sharing thing isn't a big deal, and that TSR isn't in the wrong. Apparently, this person has never heard of identity theft.

The problem with sites like Livejournal is that their TOS allows them to circumvent the first amendment (and any equivalent laws guaranteeing the right to free speech). And yes, there is something in there saying that they can suspend/ban for whatever reason. It really sucks. I hope they do the right thing.
Yeah, I know. It just pisses me off when someone who, to me, is obviously in the wrong gets their way.

Of course. It pisses me off, too. Look on the bright side: something stoopid like Twatty clearly isn't going to stop Coconut.

Oh, wouldn't we all?

I hope they do the right thing.

Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Yeah, because major corporations are usually run by such nice folks.

Nah, they're just preventing potential butthurt. After all, what do they care about this here community. It's time to start looking for a new place to host the journal.

Hey, a girl can hope! Besides, I'd hate to have a valid reason to boycott LJ.

Considering the new company's (some loser in Russia) penchant for censorship, my hope is probably misplaced.

I have issues with understanding why LJ is caving like that. It's not slander or libel. These are unedited screencaptures of a forum that Coconut or source had legitimate access to.

Is everyone who posts accurate information that might be unfavorable to someone now censored? Is LJ not based in the US? Oh wait, they are. Dudes. Freedom of Speech. First Amendment of the US Constitution. Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UN).

From what I've heard, LJ abuse is, erm... special. I'm not sure what we can expect from them. Being a pessimist, I'm leaning toward them going "SLANDER AND LIES B&!!!!!"

I'm pretty sure that LJ's TOS forbids slander, or whatever Twatty told them Coconut did. Anyone with two brain cells to rub together knows that there's nothing violating LJ's TOS. Unfortunately, Twatty appears to have empty space in her skull.

I was pretty disappointed (in LJ) when I noticed that Coconut had been suspended. I hope it goes back up. If not, I'll happily do what I can to help. What Coconut is doing is soooo important. Someone submitted a secret... last week or something saying that they had canceled their sub after reading his/hr LJ. That made me pretty happy.

Yes... in all her "I've been smoking pot all weekend" glory.

Her upper lip looks like mustache stubble.

She doesn't need to be any more fucked up than she already is! Bleeech. Looking at Winohouse is bad enough when it's a "real" photo.
