Same here! We've had attempted break-ins. It takes the cops a good bit to get here & I'm not going to wait for them to show up if someone breaks into my house. If they are breaking in it is sure that they are up to no good. Maybe they ARE just there to steal something. But the 2 guys that beat a fellow to death not far from us were just there to steal too. He didn't have a gun.
We could argue this point all year. We are probably going to have to just agree to disagree. The right to bear arms is one constitutional right that I hold dear. My opinion on that will never change. But I know that other people have the right to their own opinions. Hey, that is what makes life interesting & debate is always good. For myself bmyall, it is prudence. My dog would probably scare someone off before they ever got in, but I figure if they aren't afraid of  him then I would have little chance against them unarmed. So I choose to be armed!

Same here! I am always making new walls or looking for them. And the perfect wood flooring often eludes me. I've made tons of carpets.
My problem is that I don't like a lot of pattern. I lean towards painted walls with white trim or very subdued wallpapers. I know...I'm weird 

I live in the boonies, where my nearest neighbor wouldn't even hear my screams...so I am pretty much on my own.
We have had trespassers/thieves come to our farm. It took the county sheriff almost an hour to get here the quickest response time.
I should add that my guns are not just for home defense but also for hunting.
And I just like to shoot them sometimes.

I'm pretty level-headed. I own several guns. I know how to use those guns. I have enough sense not to shoot at anyone or anything indiscriminately. I know other people might not be the same way. I don't really care. Someone breaks into my house, I won't hesitate to point my gun & calmly tell them to get the hell out. And if they don't...I will not hesitate to shoot them. And with my guns, they are pretty much gonna be dead. While I really don't WANT to kill someone...they should have stayed out of my house. It's mine! I don't carry a gun because I don't have a concealed carry permit yet, tho our county recently passed a law that we can. I do have a weapon tho...sometimes the best defense is a good offense.

Which is why you teach people how to use a gun & promote gun safety. There are always going to be idiots with guns, just like there also will be idiots with other forms of weapons...the world is full of idiots. The biggest problem with kids getting guns is that their parents need to keep the guns locked up. I know this sounds like I am simplifying things a lot, but I think we need to take more accountability for our own actions. I know how to use a gun & highly doubt I would shoot myself.
As far as women 'avoiding' rape by avoiding being in a situation where it could occur...sounds like you are talking more about date rape. And yeah, while I think women should be more careful about getting themselves in a potentially bad situation, I also don't think you can tell by looking at a guy whether he is a rapist. The most approachable, seemingly nice guy could be the worst, while a scroungy-looking dude could actually be the nicest. It is also laying the blame of rape at the woman's door...something society is all too ready to do!

I recently weeded a bunch of eyes out of my downloads & managed to get it down to 50 eyes + my defaults (bruno's Olivia eyes). I love bruno's eyes & my other favorites have to be Shady, Anva & Tabatha. ShojoAngel has some nice ones too. It all depends on the look I want my sim to have.

SapphireSims2 has a pirate theme going on right now with some nice stuff. Ya gotta register to dl I think but it is all free (of course!) These 3 are my favorite so far:

Not taking sides here (and also late to the party d/t being without internet last couple of days) but I like ellipses...use them all the time  
I think I use them a lot for where I would pause if I were talking instead of typing cause I kinda write like I speak much of the time & I hate starting new sentences for some reason.
I also hate starting sentences with "I" so usually just start a sentence without it. for example. when expressing my opinion (tend to speak that way too).
Part of that, I think, also comes from being a nurse & having to write a lot in a few words. Especially since I am quite "talky" as my niece says

We have lots of birds around our little farm (mostly barn swallows, which I love cause they eat nasty mosquitoes) none of which I raise or anything.
I like the cardinals & robins, love the hummingbirds enough that I actually feed them, and tolerate the field sparrows.
We also get a lot of little wrens & finches. I have a birdbath which they love to flop around in. We generally get about a dozen hummingbirds a year,
all fighting over the same little feeder. My mom has 2 big feeders & only about 6 regular hummingbirds, but she gets lots of other birds because she feeds them.
She lives just across the field, has tons of trees around. While we have one lonely tree!
Birds are, apparently, very territorial. I've had bluejays swoop at me when I get near their nests & hummingbirds get real pissy when you take their feeders down to clean/fill.
But they eat bugs (hummingbirds kill bumblebees & wasps too) so I really don't mind them.

We also have a fox nearby this year...very pretty little critters!

And yeah, hate possums...just big rats in my book & dumber than cows.

ETA: no inside/caged birds for me! I had a bad experience in college ... a stupid roommate bought lovebirds for her boyfriend but he couldn't keep pets, so we had the joy of them in our apartment. It wouldn't have been so bad, except the stupid twit let them out of their cages daily (so they could feel 'free'  ) and they would fly around & shit on everything. I finally told her that if she did not cease this activity that the birds would be 'really free'. The next day she took them to her boyfriends.
