I'm actually less concerned about guns and gun control issues than I am about the need for personal protection. I can understand wanting to protect ones home and family. What I'm curious about is the need to carry weapons. Is it fear or prudence?

We had long guns on the farm I grew up on but that was because of the frequent rabies epidemics in the area. That was more to protect the animals than ourselves, or perhaps a little hunting.

If violent crimes are a function of poverty then we could be in for a rough ride with the economy going the way it has. I still can't fathom how that's a cultural aspect though.

I seem to be having difficulty really understanding this issue. It seems that most of you are saying that some form of protection is required. Is violent crime that prevalent? I'm not making light of the issue, I'm just shocked at what I'm hearing. The city I live in has about 400,000 people and I've never felt the need for personal weapons. My daughters 21, 19 haven't either.

I didn't know you could make a table lamp out of a toilet seat, Dot's recycling I guess.

I prefer to think of myself as slightly antique Cheesy

I don't understand the chains and rings much either, resembles a leash too much for my liking. None of that stuff is what I'd call family friendly. I'm wondering if the butterfly outfit is really moths that have eaten the rest of the material?

Midnight Special anyone? Forget "old school"...I'm just plain, old OLD  Tongue

wow...now that brings back some memories  Grin   and yeah, maybe more old than school   Grin
Could be worse young ones, I remember watching the Beatles and the Who on the Smothers Brothers. Does that make me older than school?

Thanks Snarky, you made my morning. I almost made it through the whole thing without spilling my coffee, until the sheepskin underwear!

Undecided OK, I know "put the lime in the coconut"    but WTF does "put the lime in FREE" mean? Is that a bubbleheads idea of wit? She makes no sense at all anymore (not that she ever REALLY did). It never ceases to amaze me that there are actually people who fall for her drivel  Sad
That would be a spelling error I believe, Dot "puts the lie in free"

May I make a piratical suggestion on this thread?  Include the TSR links.  I ask this because I'm in the mood to start reporting TSR as an inappropriate site and, since my signon at TSR doesn't work I'd like the URLs to cut and paste into the complaint.  And I suggest other people do it.

"Y'know if one person just one person does it they may think he's really cheap and theyll ignore him,
"If two people, two people do it--in harmony--they'll think you're just pirates and they'll ignore both of 'em.
"And if three people--can you imagine three people going in and reporting TSR?--they may think it's an organization
"And can you imagine 50 people--50 people a day--going iin and reporting TSR and walking out!
"And, friends, they may think it's a movement! And, folks, it is.  The PMBD Anit-paysite movement and all you gotta do is join it the next time sleazy underwear turns up on this page...."

Sorry, shouldn't listen to Arlo Guthrie before my caffien kicks in.  But I wasn't kidding about the posting the links part.

*sings along* Great now I'll have Alice's Restaurant in my head all day- meh, could be worse Smiley

It makes one wonder what sort of " attempts" have been thwarted. Would these be the same sort of hacking "attempts" that Buggy and MTS2 have suffered? or are they more basic "attempts" like say... thievery.

Shakeshaft is a thief and Thomass is a haxxor

As the father of two daughters, one in university, one in college I think I would say that kids don't make their parents happier or more anguish filled. If life is a roller coaster of emotions, I don't believe kids make the highs higher or the lows lower. What I do see is that there are probably more ups and downs if you are a parent. Anguish, worry and costs are there with life. If a person with kids complains of the cost of diapers, it's a given that if they had no kids the complaint would be the high cost of something else.

One thing people without kids will never need to worry about however, is coming home to a house with the tunes blaring from the windows and yelling, "turn that crap down!" then realizing, Hey that's Zeppelin...I've become my Dad Embarrassed

That's a truly horrifying story Darqstar, Your friend, her daughter, and the whole family have my deepest sympathy.

It may be that some people complained to pay pal about the supposed security breech. If Johan is in charge of billing (someone said that earlier) he would have been notified. Perhaps coming here was the only place to get answers.

Then again, he may just be checking to see how much is known.
