16  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Ahoy! New guy, new idea. on: 2008 March 19, 03:24:07
If you are being serious: Don't be terrified.  Not all of us are scary.  Thus spake the Cute One (tm).

If you are being facetious: We make a living scaring people.  Haven't you seen Monsters Inc?  Except we are better-looking than them and we don't have magic doors.  Or do we?  We have rum and juice.

I admit I did not read the OP, but it seemed uninteresting and judging by the following posts, I did not miss much.  The idea of the commission in general does not bother me, but not if it is dependent on a video game or similar.  I would not pay anyone to write me Final Fantasy fan fiction or fan art, and I would not pay anyone to make me Sims 2 content.

If these people are talented, and some Sims 2 creators are very talented without needing the game to create works of art, they can make money selling original art instead of Sims 2 content.  I don't see why more people don't do this.  Is it because they think Simmers are stupid or something?  I'm not dumb!  Sad

I think the point is that the phorum isn't meant to be used for every single update at a site--that is, people know how to check out other places like MTS2 and people's personal Sims sites for updates, so they don't need to be reminded over here every single time that the site has been updated.  Nouk doesn't have to post in this thread to tell us that her site has been updated--I check it regularly well enough on my own.  I don't come to this thread to see if a site has updated--I go to the site itself.

Same thing happened with Te--for a while he was posting everything he made in this thread, and eventually he was asked to stop.  I personally don't mind a wee bit of advertising (and I don't think most people do), but I think I'd rather it go something like, "Hey, I made this awesome dress.  You can get it, and some other goodies I updated with it, here [insert link]."  There's an element of surprise, you know?  Wink

And besides, Cala has mentioned lots of times the fact that people do click links in signatures (I click them!  And I download way too much Wink), so they don't really need their own thread to advertise their stuff--at most, they just need to post an item or two in this thread, have a link in their signature, and then carry about the phorum as they normally would.

Those dresses are gorgeous, Saraswati!  I'll be taking those now.  Grin

Except some paysites aren't even bothering to write sequels, they just take the original novel and change one character's name to Frank, or make the monster a pencil sharpener but fail to remove or rewrite all references to the original lampshade monster.  Wink

Well, depends on their fetishes, I suppose.

I've seen a lot of shock pictures/sites like hai2u, lemon party, goatse, blah blah blah, so I'm not too horrified when I see them any more (well, most of the "mild" ones, anyway, like goatse and tub girl--I know there's worse stuff and I do not want to see it or hear about it), but I still am disgusted by stuff like the OHJ nonsense because I'm not really seeing it as something that's meant to shock people, just some guy sharing too much information about his personal life.  I dunno.

I miss Motoki.  Sad

My school has made no mention of it, but the only social studies class I am in is psychology.  They might be talking about it in other classes that I am not taking.  I mostly attribute the lack of discussion to the fact that there is, perhaps, all of five or six black people in my school the city town.  And all of four or five Asians.  Two of whom are my brother and I, though technically we're only half.  (But there was no "mixed" option and I hate the "other" option since I am not an alien.)  I'm not sure if the exchange students from Asia are still around (I don't think they are).  I can't wait to move again after I graduate.  Tongue  (Only lived here for about two years.)

Kids out of school and all (no offense to our younger members who are obviously better than that).
I had a four-day week-end (Friday to today).  Smiley  Granted, I spent most of it doing homework.  I would have had less homework if my physics partner didn't flake--had a few weeks to do a project and I thought we were going to work on it over the week-end, but he never called.  I had to come up with my own design for the entire project in two days, since I patiently waited for him to call on Sunday, on the off-chance he was working on it Friday and Saturday.

If he shows up to school tomorrow with nothing, guess he's failing because I'm not putting his name on my project.  If he shows up with something, he'll just have to take my name off it.  I probably should have listened to my dad, since he said earlier that the kid wasn't planning on doing the project anyway, considering he never brought anything to work with during class.  I figured it was just senioritis (I know I have a bit of it myself) and didn't want to be a bitch for no reason, but that's fine.  Group projects suck anyway.  Partners usually ride in on my coattails, but there's the rare occasion where they don't.  Besides, can't be stretching my clothes!  Grin

Anyway, I've seen plenty of stupidity on week-days, in school and on fora.  Wink

Okay, I'm going to stop lurking so much and just post this. I looked in the thread and saw no one posted it so uh...

S/he/it updated... and is that a new model? *Vomits*
I thought this was already talked about.  It's based on Sunair's work.

Please don't revive threads that are over a year old.

Actually, I feel like doing some more paintings. Does anybody have specific wishes in terms of size, format, frame/no frame, multiple/single panes? What's missing in your games?

More centred paintings!  (I'm not sure if this is clear so--two tiles, but has only one pane and sits in the middle of the two tiles.)  I dislike having to put a painting right up against a door, or having to turn off snaptogrid.  Plus, I like variety.  Cheesy

Hm, I'm not sure if I was more annoyed by Suzy or by crocobaura.

Suzy is hilarious.

But you felt strongly enough to start a site of your own?

"Yet, I also feel strongly enough that CC should be free that I started a Free Site back in 2005."

Which one is the truth?

Huh, so the fact that it's old doesn't even matter.

"Yet, I also feel strongly enough that CC should be free that I started a Free Site back in 2005."

Site started in '05, comment made in '06... Strong feelings seemed to have changed...

Quoting myself.  I almost wish the threads were left open, but I suppose people were going in circles.  But if for every sixty pages there was a revelation like that, I think it'd be worth it.

Either that or she is a little girl.

They aren't really anywhere, partly because I'm always tweaking them and partly because I am lazy.  And partly because they're "avatars" of my NaNo characters from last year.

I'll set them on my 4shared, though.  Even though a week from now they'll be different.  =P

(Accessory meshes don't tag along, and I'm kind of lazy about taking out the accessories.  Hope you don't mind.  They come attached with all their custom content, but I can fix them up with Maxis stuff if need be.)

Hi, just to add to the pile of beauties here.

I was working with some Sims of mine and I started to get frustrated with their stupid faces.  Then I remembered, duh, I needed to set my standards a little higher.  I needed to be good enough for Carla Niven!

So here we have beauty number one.

And a side view.
(The original, if you're curious.)

I gave up on that one, so I started dealing with another Sim.  Once again I got frustrated.

Side view.
(And an original.)

Am I good enough for Niven or what?!  (I apologise for the make-up.  I felt too lazy to actually go and find something trashier.  I mean, classier.)
