Look at her "gifts" area. You can find a "recolored" version of this hair there... I wouldn't call it recolored but alpha-edited, the longer parts are just cut away. But who'd need to get the special gift if you can do the alpha-edit yourself - or use the free hair that's so similar to the alpha-edited pay-hair.

The letter is too small to be really readable, but some things are ok to read:

D...... Deppe, Spendenverwaltung

The rest is not readable.

This is mostly juristical German, so that I won't be able to translate it properly, but as far as I can understand Dennis Kehr donated 15 €. I didn't find a hint about membership things, it rather looks like a one-time-donation, but it might be just not readable, or because I don't understand these juristic things. I bolded the number, because if you are going to find out if there was a real donation, this is the way to find out.

If someone else is able to translate this, please do so.

Oh, and about the window frame thing: There is a German word "Sims" which means the window sill, but can be used for the frame as well. There was a kind of discussion about this at SFV a long time ago already

She's back, people, making good on her threat to post meshes...she expects PAYSITES to GIVE her meshes so SHE could sell them.

With the exception that she doesn't want them to post their own meshes, she wants that every paysiteowner posts creations by other, free creators there, so that she can sell them. The meshes she has on her site right now are by Pas at SFV...

Wow, so much hatred and flame...

Magenta, I don't understand why you came here in the first place. We don't hurt any free site creator. If you look through all the threads, there is just respect for creators of free sites. Ok, every now and then there's someone who doesn't understand that we want to help free sites, but he will be taught soon...

Yes, PMBD is about sharing the payfiles, and JUST the payfiles. As soon as a site goes free, the former payfiles will be removed. If they are unavailable then, they'll find their way to the graveyard... If the paysite creaturs feel insultet...well, there's no reason, because where's the insult? They should be ashamed that they created pay content in the first place. The creators are always credited, nobody claimes to be the creator here.
If other people are doing the same, sharing a (pay) mesh with their own recolors etc, this is a good thing to do, because everyone can use every creation then (read Nouk's and Hysterical Paroxysm's letters, there you can find that EA just wants that, that every creation is available for everyone).
In my opinion sharing a free mesh could be ok on some occasions. When SAU was down longer than online, it would have been better to include the meshes. If you have to register, for example at Raonsims, but registering does not work for a large number of people. When the item you need is badly named so that you don't have a chance to find it. When you need to download a whole, large set and only need one small item etc. But credit is always needed.

Using items uncredited, claiming items to be their own creations, stealing parts of creations is no way tolerated here, and if you have a look around, you can find see that yourself, even in this thread.
So I cannot understand why you are complaining... We didn't do anything to you nor did we "steal" your work nor do we flame free sites.

When it comes to paysites, we are the bad guys, that's true. But when you are searching for the people who complain about free content, who leave comments like "your creation is shit" or want to force you to update, you have to look somewhere else.

so wait... is http://www.lueppiline.de/indexeng.html a freesite like they say they are, and used to be a paysite, and now all their paystuff is free, or are they rotating out paystuff to free stuff, and they'll be making a new pay creation soon?  (This is the website I pulled up for my example.  I have no strong feelings one way or the other about the download's quality.)

They say they're 100% free now, but I've seen many a paysite say they're free.   :?  :?

i'm using them as an example also cause their little linky tag thingees on the side go to places like (dun dun dun...) TSR.

Yes, Lueppi is now 100% free. Si(m) la Lueppi was a paysite, but Lueppi said she got a lot less than 20 euro through her one and only payset in more than half a year,so she pulled it and used google adds instead to finance her site (well, the booty helped a little bit with the decision...)

Her little linky tag on the right side links to linksites, not to the content on the respective sites, and so the tsr-fansite index is linked, too. And I don't think that a fansite index can harm, even if it was made by a paysites and paysites are included in the index.

At her linkpage only free sites are linked.

Yes, I know this post might sound defending. This is because Lueppi is a friend of mine, and we talked a lot about her site, her payset, the decision to pull it and how much help the adds would be.

Endbenutzer-Lizenzverträge werden meist zu Beginn der Installation der Software angezeigt und müssen vom Benutzer akzeptiert werden, um die Installation fortzuführen. EULAs are mostly shown at the beginning of the installation and have to be accepted by the user to proceed with the installation. These EULAs should bind the users not only to the usual clauses about the copyrightlaw but to more, too: Certain producers try e.g. to avoid that customers, who use this product, spread negative things about them.

Translation: Although these Licenses look very "officially" to the layman they most times aren't valid : the ageement for sale is the basement for the ownership of the data medium, so that the purchaser already has the right to use it as his own property; at this time the EULA isn't visible for the purchaser. Legal rights like the copyright are valid even without being mentioned in the EULA, things beyond that are invalid.

What I can see is that XM didn't release a payset in 15 months, the last was released in 03/2006.
Yes, they said they would release one or two a month... and this month they released a skinset.
For me it looks like as if they are releasing the remaining sets when they didn't have enough time to create a new update, but I might be wrong.

Yes, they still have 25 sets left, and if they go on like now they will last for 12-25 months. There are still paypal buttons so that you are able to pay for these sets. So they technically are a paysite, but since they are not releasing new ones, I think of them as rather a free than a paysite.

Take Around the Sims 2, for example: from their translations, I can guess that they actually got someone who speaks French to write them, but not a professional translator, as their French sentences cling too closely to the English grammatical structure and sometimes sound awkward and unnatural.

Well, Sandy is French. From her Contacts info:
Code:
I'm french. I tell this for the french people who begin their mails by "Excuse my english, I'm french"... (And so I am! ;)), and for all the english native locutors who use "u" instead or "you", "r" for "are", etc, etc... I'm sorry, but... when they're too many, I just don't understand anything and I don't answer. Please, please, don't forget that english is NOT my language! Thanks!
69  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Question on: 2007 June 21, 11:17:22
She had one payset that appeared in the booty, so she decided to shut her site down.
But only a short time later she was back.
And some months later she decided to go completely free because she needed her paypal button with different options for another, not sims-related site.
70  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Peggy's new pay hair on: 2007 June 20, 14:52:19
Thank you, this comes in handy because I'm just recoloring the hair.
I'll test it later today.

In bodyshop most hairs look nice. But once the sim starts moving, the animation is quite weird. This time it's the bangs that move through the head, the last ponytail was animated, but just the lower third which moves were really weird, same with some other new hair. And some pretty old hairs moved through the body as a whole.
I don't know if it is really hard to animate a hair in a nice way, but I'd prefer stiff hair over weird animation. I hoped that their animation skills developed and improved since they first tried, and some hairs have been ok when only certain parts were animated, but things like these are just a sign for bad work.
72  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / The real cost...results might suprise you on: 2007 May 24, 08:50:38
To get all of Rose's donation sets separately, you'd have to pay 145$. But since her older hairs are special gifts now, she has more than 30 gifts and less than 60 sets, you won't get all of the gifts and possibly miss some of the early hairs.
Using her donation plans, you can "save" a lot of money: you can get all hairs (including the newest one) and all gifts for only 47$!!

What's "Donna's tragic death"? Was it one of those people who makes up a fake sick child to gain sympathy? Like in the "Night Listener"? That was a good, but creepy movie and it's based on a true story...wait a minute, was the woman in that named Donna? Is that who you're talking about?

Donna was a creator at eyecandy forum. She was a person who had to suffer a lot of tragic things, her boyfriend died, she had cancer and many, many more things she freely posted about. Several times she said that she'd retire from the Sims2 community.
Then suddenly her "brother" posted that she had commited suicide.
BUT: Apparently there wasn't a "Donna" ever! People say that "she" always was a "he", the "brother" who posted about her death.

There have been several paysets that had to be taken down because of copywrite. There have been two paysets at SimsConnection (Starbucks and Barh & Bodyworks) and one payset at Retailsims (Krispy Kreme).

I used Lyran's eyesets before, and only recently I learned that some rather natural eyes look better on my sims than maxis-ish eyes, so I wanted to delete my old eyesets and let my already created sims have the new eyes, but it didn't work... Now I have skins and eyes I love, but my old sims either still have not matching eyes or the eyes that came with Louis' skins...

Thanks. This happens when I type too fast. I think you can see from this that English isn't my first language...

Yes, binning hair is to put blonde hair in the blonde bin, black in the black bin instead of custom.

I once tried to use SimPe to change my sims' eyecolor, and first it worked, but when I let my sims change appearance the next time, the eyecolor went back to original.
