On the other hand, you did have something with the tarting up children for beauty shows being a bad idea.  Yes, a child molester likes children and making children look older is often a turn off.  On the other hand, there have been child molesters who have commented that those little girls in the beauty shows are "asking for it."  Is it justifying something that should never be justified?  Yes it is.  On the other hand, a parent who does put their child into the whole baby beauty show game should keep a careful eye on their child and be doubly sure of anyone the child comes in contact with who isn't a parent or someone well known and trusted.  And even then, you can't always be sure.

All I can think of right now is Jon Bennet Ramsey and how awful it was that poor child had to die. I'm sorry, but I think it was her parents who did her in. I wouldn't be surprised if the father abused her and the mother knew, but kept silent. And children should be allowed to be children, not a miniature adult.

As for me, I love art, music, literature, archeology, and history. My husband's and mine weekend hobby involves history. We are part of a group that recreates the Middle Ages.

Thing is, Anne Rice is not the first, nor the last to put the hammer down on fanfics....Anne McCaffery was really bad about it too - I suspect its not the authors themselves either, but their agents.

I was a member of a FanFiction writing group for Anne McCaffery's "Dragonrider" series. We did have official sanction from Anne herself. The groups she mainly "stomped" on were the 12's who wanted "pink or purple" dragons. And yes, it came from her agents and legal staff.

Also, I recently read that Anne Rice is now writing Christian fiction as she has recently turned back to her past upbringing. I found one time on MTS2 a really nice set of pictures that were done as original art by someone of Lastat and Louis. They were based on the "Lady in Red" picture. I downloaded them, but have never put them in my game. It was lovely original art.

And as for those bathing suits.... what are they wearing? Chain mail?

CJane's Edward has a much more realistic face.

I'd rather have her's in my game any day.

And no, have not read the book nor seen the movie. I prefer Lastat in the books.

Ah, now there's a touchy subject...

Personally (and this may sound strange) I can't categorise 'naked' as smutty because nudity isn't always sexual. Some of the outfits in this thread are obviously meant to arouse, even if they fail at it. Nudity isn't always sexual, it can be about comfort for example, while pimp-outfits and ho-boots on stockings definitely are meant to provoke sexual thoughts. I remember the shitstorm that erupted when someone posted a penis for toddlers (or was it babies?) at MTS2 and it left me with a bad taste. I hope this doesn't explode.

I agree, but if they tried to dress the baby in those awful Evi hose/tights or put of those "adult" looking clothes on the baby, then I'd draw the line. But I think it is a matter of personal taste overall and yes, no matter what some people are pervs.

WTF??? Donny Osmand and Michael Jackson?Huh?

Evi crawl back under your rock please.

Yes, it was the '70s.

One thing I have learned lurking as I have recently on this site is that while we may disagree among ourselves, the arguments are well reasoned and it doesn't sound like two 12's shouting at it each other. Also the Pirates here are a fun bunch to hang out with and when the need arises, we help each other out. BUT the Pirates do not advocate doing anything illegal (like hacking another website or sharing someone's RL information for "revenge").

Yes, TSR should be destroyed. Thankfully the people I do like who post there, post their stuff for free and have also posted it elsewhere on the web or I can contact them and they will forward me a copy since they have backups. The only section I read there is the Mac Discussion and I have made several friends there because of those discussions.

The Pirates are a cutthroat crew, lead by a man with an iron fist, but they will fight for right and always take the high ground.

And just because info is public doesnt mean it should be shared (especially for strictly malicious reasons as in the TSR case).  We have never condoned it here and as an example some of you might remember during the huge Batshit Crazy Jan thread when someone (I think it may have been Sparkle Plenty) posted Jan's whois info and was promptly ripped for it.  We all demanded that it be removed and even though we couldn't stand Jan we knew that ostng the info was wrong.  IIRC, that was when the FAQ had that part added.

I read that thread and that was my first exposure to this group. And yes, sharing that kind of unedited information is not smart. Thankfully the pirates have morals.

I personally do not have any tattoos, but I think that they should have a personal meaning associated with them. I bet those are both really cool looking Chaos and I think you did the right thing, both in waiting to have the tattoos done and in your start at a new life.
132  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: TSR Sharing your infomation! on: 2008 December 05, 16:54:29
Yes it is public - but we don't publish that sort of thing here - because people could be compromised.  The only reason they chose this as the first person to post is because they think our reaction will be *meh - thieves deserve it* - they just want us to compromise to their level.  And later they can say "oh but you pirates didn't care when we shared blah blah's name" - and justify sharing private information.

I agree with Calalily on this. Granted if you know a person's real name you could be underhanded like TSR and display it for all the world to see. I'm just worried about Black Dwarf. I don't trust TSR to be honest as far as I can throw them.

And at least the Pirates have morals. We won't sink to the level of subprimordial ooze.
133  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Insim under new management! on: 2008 December 05, 14:31:53
Okay, a single person -can- own an LLC - a friend of mine has one that is going to be the parent 'corp' for our computer building company, once we're all in the same state - which should be after Christmas, since that's when his lease is up.

So, affectively, its quite possible that DCA is Walt.

Sorry this is several pages later, I was reading up on the latest. Most small businesses if they are smart create an LLC (Limited Liability Corporation) to prevent their personal assets from being seized if something were to happen (say bankruptcy). That way only the "business" assets can be seized.
134  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Insim under new management! on: 2008 December 04, 14:09:11
On to greener pastures (this may have been asked before, but I've seriously lost focus), has anyone got screenshots of that very first post Walt made? Only I'm writing something for fandom_wank and while there's many screens of the burnination, I can't find any of that original shitstorm.

Again, sorry if they're right under my nose, but this is getting pretty huge.

I think somewhere in the first few pages of this thread there is a screen shot of Paden's original email and then the first page of Insim. I remember reading it.
135  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Re: Insim under new management! on: 2008 December 02, 20:02:56
I only went to Insim to get the obvious, the Insiminator itself. But what I'd like to see is a) a clone of the site put up so that any data can be gathered that was not gathered during the Great Pillage of '08, b) Pescado and Delphy setting up the new home of (insert new name here), c) the two Great Minds get the site set up and running and hand over control to the InSim mods for pretty much doing what the did at Insim before Walt, and d) everyone going back to business as usual at the new site.

That's just my $0.02.
