1  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / why do people hate paysites? COMPLETELY DERAILED NOW on: 2006 December 17, 16:29:09

...in the male definition it states Delphi is a ancient city  on the slopes of Mount Parnassus in Greece.  So I would say Delphi has both gender properties. but then again all baby name books and name meanings vary.  And they do have Delphine listed under Greek female name, but not in the male section.. who knows.

Dragon

.

Delphi, the ancient greek city known for it's oracle, is in plural form (written Delfoi in greek). Since plural form for both male and female in greek is the same, we can't be sure if it derives from male or female. It has nothing to do, however, with the aquatic mammal, the dolphin, which is Delfini in greek and is neither male nor female. Now, if I had paid a little more attention to the Ancient Greek we're taught in High School, I might have known a bit more. I'm still struggling with the use of Modern Greek though! Tongue
2  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / How much do we know about Pescado? on: 2006 December 12, 13:27:50
To sum things up:

He has a long beard with a life on its own.
He's bald, short and stocky.
He's grumpy and mean.
He likes to hoard shineys.
He lives under a mountain and delights in opening new passageways and tunnels and designing traps and pitfalls.
He's a fierce fighter, preferring axes over all other weapons.
He hates trees and "pansy tree-huggers".

Ergo, he's a dwarf. Regular or duergar, I'm not sure yet, though his aversion for sunlight points rather to the latter.

I have to ask...how do those...whatever they ares, stay on her legs? They're neither pants, nor socks. They don't seem to have any means of staying in place. They look like they'd quickly fall down and trip you.

Behold the adhesive powers of...chloroform! (Useless info of the day: chloroform is a VERY potent adhesive when used on plastics). Also very handy if you want to drug yourself to sleep from seeing the atrocities on that site...

This reminds me of when I go to concerts.  The band finishes playing, says "goodnight" or "thanks" and then they leave.  The crowd cheers with applause.  You know the band is going to come back and play an encore.  They always do.  I've been to over a hundred concerts and never once can I recall a time a band did not.

Heh...this reminds me of a Manowar concert (I think the last time they played here in Greece?), where their guitarist was stuck on a wheelchair during the whole show because of a broken leg...so they play their setlist, say their goodnights and good byes, the lights fade, they leave the scene...and the guitarist is left on stage! Guess he thought "Why bother? We still have an encore to play!"
