1  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / S2CHost (Free Sims 2 Hosting) Implements Organized Plans! on: 2008 January 27, 13:52:59
Okay Pescado, I won't put the MySQL databases in there. I put them in because a lot of other hosts put them in and sometimes people compare between what they offer and what I offer.

And Ren, I also decided I'll lower bandwidth. This is what I come up with now:

Child
5 GB Disc Space
100 GB Bandwidth/Month
Ad-Free

Teen
10 GB Disc Space
200 GB Bandwidth/Month
Must Apply

Adult
20 GB Disc Space
500 GB Bandwidth/Month
Must Apply

Given that you are not charging for these plans, what is the point in dividing them up into different-sized packages? It seems to be that the logical outcome is that people will just take the largest available whether or not they use it all.

The reason is that I have to expect that whoever is using that account is going to use all the space I give them. If someone doesn't use the space I will downgrade them to a lower plan until they need a larger one. I had around 100 people on S2CHost. But what I could do is a plan like this:

Child
5 GB Disc Space
200 GB Bandwidth/Month
2 MySQL Databases
Ad-Free

Teen
10 GB Disc Space
400 GB Bandwidth/Month
4 MySQL Databases
Must Apply

Adult
20 GB Disc Space
1,000 GB Bandwidth/Month
10 MySQL Databases
Must Apply

------

So basically, the basic plan is the basic plan. If your site needs a larger plan there will be an application box? If that would work then I can get started tonight and finish editing the site and everything hopefully by the end of the weekend.

Thank you so much for the statistics, Jess! I'll use them to create new plans to replace these.

Also, this is bandwidth per month, for whoever asked.

I've heard of them all except Sims2VIPS, Kamikitten, Pixel Dolly, and Stefan.

Sims 2 sites need much more bandwidth than they need space, usually.
Not sure how much our sites usually use... the more medium sites use about 100 gigs. The smaller ones around 50 or less. The giant ones use the number of the devil.

So would a Child = 2 GB Space, 25 GB Bandwidth;Teen = 5 GB Space, 7 GB Bandwidth;Adult = 10 GB Space, 200 GB Bandwidth;Elder = 25 GB Space, 500 GB Bandwidth; system work?

I can change it if need be...I have around 400 GB Space and 400,000 GB Bandwidth I'm willing to give out.

I have no idea - I just know that I wouldn't have fit any of those plans when I started out - and that I wouldn't have known anyway.  Cheesy

If there is any chance you can get the usage stats from Jessica or Nouk I can use them to create a new plan for everyone with a medium-sized site.

ws-jessica is jessica.  I'm good for hosting (thanks to my beloved Sublime - who rock  Cheesy ) But mine would be too big for that *even* a month after I started.  I wouldn't class it as a "large" site now - it's a little corner out in the middle of nowhere - it's not large though.

How much would be good for a medium site? I have 600 GB of space and 6,000 GB of bandwidth..just trying to share it evenly.

Is 20 GB of space and 250 GB of bandwidth a good size? I can add an Elder plan if that works.

I've been told numerous times that people reject S2CHost (A free Sims 2 webhost) as their host because there are no official plans. I've decided to implement official plans.

These are the three new plans:

Quote
Child
Disk Space: 2 GB
Bandwidth: 20 GB
MySQL Databases: 2
(Ad-free)
-Subdomain Only-

Child is the default subdomain hosting plan. Child plans get 2 GB of space and 20 GB of transfer, more than enough to get a site started. There is no advertisement.
---

Teen
Disk Space: 5 GB
Bandwidth: 50 GB
MySQL Databases: 5
(88x31 button link to S2CHost - Homepage Only)

Teen is the default domain plan. All domains use Teen as their default. Teen plans require an 88x31 button linking to S2CHost on the homepage only.
---

Adult

Disk Space: 10 GB
Bandwidth: 100 GB
MySQL Databases: 10
(Ad-free, must apply separately to join.)

Adult is the exclusive plan. You must apply for Adult hosting and you must meet the guidelines:
1) You must have been hosting with S2CHost for one month with a complete Sims 2 site (No "under construction" areas).
2) You must get at least 25 unique visitors a day.
No ads are required with Adult hosting.

I also host custom plans for large sites.

Need free hosting for your new Sims-related site? S2CHost is where it's at!

P.S. What's Jessica's new username? When I went on it was wickedone but now she changed it...please post it if you know!

Hey, I'm not a whore. You're just rude for insulting me.

Anyways, I'm the host of S2CHost, and I suspended Noavanno's site alike a week ago after getting this e-mail:

Quote
Hey,
I must tell you that this Simpage http://nikkolaisims.s2chost.info/ steals items from my page,
and the layout is stolen by http://www.muranomobilia.com/

So here can you see that She stolen my Texture :

My Donation(!) Item: http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/4391/0x5f6241c3bodystdmatbasvh0.png
"Her" Item: http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/7536/0x5f8d5e98bodystdmatbasek5.png

She steals the dress, and the shoes, and some details from the belt.

That skintone at her page are too not from her, thats from TSR.

So I hope you tell her that, and I would that she delete that Stolen Items (Clothes, Layout, Skintone)
And I will that you tell her that she doesn't may to use my sim for the pictures.

I become happy about a write-back

www.glamorouslounge.net (soon back)
All the best

10  The Pirate Ship / ARR! / Free Sims 2 Site-Only Affiliate Program! ARR! on: 2007 November 12, 16:54:21
Quote from: "ws-jessica"
this is posted on most of those javascript sites, not all that amazing...i think its called banner ad rotation or something like that :?: they also have scrolling affiliates areas and slideshow ones

Your site is still missing info on the specs of what you're offering for hosting, so that when people are directed to your site, they can figure out what you're offering them....the other pages of your site are needing to be filled out...and my site is not an affiliate as we discussed (you said you were going to do fix all of these things months ago and still havent)

also, my site is listed on several big sims2 sites on a page full of links/buttons and we still get decent traffic from them. I think people have discussed the idea of a free sims2 site webring before (which is what youre suggesting sort of?) and no one really liked the idea?

1) I'm aware they are on most sites, but I made one specifically for The Sims 2. Also, most of those ones that are online don't support links and just show images. It is easy to add links but most don't have them.

2) I said in my post that I was busy with life. I'll make the changes later today.

3) I don't care whether people like my ideas or not or whether something already exists. I'm proud of my idea and I'm proud of what I did from it. My opinion. If you don't like it, please try not to be negative and rude to me about my idea.  It's not a webring...It's an affiliate program. Web rings show to links, one to the site before it and one to the site after. This shows links to all member sites.

At your request, I just updated the site. If you look in the 'How To Add Images' section, you will see that I added a section. I also included the added section here. I assumed it was a navigation frame (A frame for the  navigation):

Quote
Adding Ads Into A Navigation Frame
Added at the request of Nouk.

To add advertisements into a navigation frame, you need to add this code in between the <head> and </head> portions of the navigation frame page:

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="30" />

This code will make the navigation frame refresh every 30 seconds. When the frame refreshes, so will the advertisement. The number is in seconds, so just change it around as you want, but the highest I've tested it was 60 seconds, so I wouldn't try to go any higher.

Arr! I was really busy with life and now I bring you a Sims 2 affiliate program.

http://affprogram.s2chost.info/ and http://www.s2chost.info/affprog/ are both URLs for the program.

Quote

The S2CHost affilate program was created for one simple purpose. Many Sims 2 websites are unable to get visitors because their buttons aren't being seen. They may be on the Links page of every single popular Sims 2 site, but due to the fact that the Links page is usually hundreds of sites where the visitor only goes to the first few seen, they are out of luck. Some sites fix this problem by putting buttons on every page. Sadly, this way you can only have a few buttons. The S2CHost affilate program fixes both of these problems by randomly showing buttons every time your page refreshes. That way, there is no need for a buttons page and you do not have to select only the best sites to show as affilates, because it automatically changes!

Just go to the site and take a quick read. If you're a lazy pirate...it's a link program so that you can have one button ad that changes every time. It's got three sizes. Go to the links below to see examples of each size:

Button (88x31): http://www.s2chost.info/affprog/scripts/button/test.html
Large Button (250x100): http://www.s2chost.info/affprog/scripts/l-button/test.html
Banner (728x90): http://www.s2chost.info/affprog/scripts/banner/test.html

Souless and I did the JavaScript, so I thank Souless for his help.

It is a small step, but it will greatly help all free Sims 2 sites unite. The smaller sites will grow because of the traffic the big sites bring them, making the pirate movement just a tad bit stronger.

What I'm worried about, is that he doesn't actually own the server, so his host could boot him over the sites using too much resources, mainly CPU.

Quite honestly, I'm not worried. The host is the nicest host I've been with. It's not a large company, it's just Rickie (The owner of the small business), his staff, and his set of 5 or 6 servers. I met him on a forum (The forum is down due to a DDoS right now, but it's at http://freewebspace.net/ ) and using that forum I can talk to Rickie directly, and he usually tabs it (FIREFOX FTW! XD) and checks it for new PMs every 10 to 20 minutes.

No more 24 hour god damn support lines. So awesome. 10 minutes support directly from the owner FTW!

To take a look at Web-Spot, go to S2CHost and click the button.

What exactly are you considering high traffic?

Hell, we do good hosting 20ish medium sized sites on a server...and you're seriously considering doing this with a reseller account?!

 Tongue

I consider high traffic to be about Simply Sims 2 size, basically. As it is now, one would work, but when I upgrade, I can do two or three.
