Buntah is retired.

Ah, ok. I remembered seeing her in the rotation at some point, but her name isn't in the retired section. Hence, confusion.

Is her stuff entirely gone? I suppose it could be in the TSR Archive, but that's a trainwreck.

Maybe half these dogs aren't scary, or evil, it's just the way they look that's the frightening part?

It has nothing to do with scary or evil. That would be more convenient, actually.
And there will always be exceptions, because each has its own personality.

Let's put it another way- would you try to keep an Irish Wolfhound in a tiny apartment as an indoor lap-dog?
He might be the soppiest lovey in the world, but he needs to run, needs to chase and romp. He wouldn't mean to destroy your house, but he would.
He's just not intended for that life, because he was bred to hunt wolves.

In the exact same way, Pitbulls (and similar) were bred for fighting. They can be nice, and sometimes they don't even mean to hurt- they just play too hard. But their instincts compel them to dominate.

Perhaps it's Carl's mother, sick of being charged such high prices.

Quote from: "Tchân de Bouley"
Lessor: I like those names...it makes me sad that they choose such nice names.

Well, it's like I said- the name leads directly to a costume or look, and they don't want to use their real names.
Simple names are more memorable, and that means more money. Tongue

I hope nobody defiles the good name of Jade though...

Green eyes and/or Asian. Sorry.

I've heard that Koalas are actually quite nasty of temperment.

You would be too if you were smaller than most predators and easy to catch.

Quote from: "Doursim"
I've also heard that they are so lazy that they always use the same hand for eating...  Something about conserving brain energy or something.

I've never heard of that (too lazy to look it up Shocked ), but I do know that they and Pandas (also nasty bastards when riled, same giant bark-stripping teeth) don't get much nutrition out of their respective leaves and shoots. That's why when you see them they're usually either eating or sleeping.

Quote from: "Soup Parrot"
Its like these dummies that have exotic animals for pets.

Some people never learn that just because something is pretty or cute doesn't mean it lives that way. They think "Domesticated" means "Lives in a house", when it's thousands of years of intentional breeding programs that got our domesticated species to stop trying to eat us on a regular basis.

I'm actually a bit peeved at EA for including wolves as tamable pets (not letter-writing furious, just...unhappy.) Wolves and wolf-crosses are incredibly dangerous, and so many people have romantic notions of them.
Take all the dog problems you've ever heard of, combined, and then include "can snap your bones like a twig", "thinks you're food", "unearthly stench", and "even if you can get them to like you, will always wait for your guard to go down so it can challenge you for leadership."

Of course, I know this sounds silly when you're talking about a game that lets you burn people to death, but the consequences there are well-represented. :?

Quote from: "Doursim"
I'm going to have to defend pitbulls and say:  Any dog can be a killer.

While I agree with you to the extent that it's not the animal's fault for what it is, calling it dangerous is justified. All dogs are hunters, but pitbulls were intended as fighters. They were intentionally bred to attack, hold on, and never let go.
Given a level playing field- all dogs yes, but pitbulls more often.

Fun fact: The majority of dog breeds are totally unsuited to living with children or other animals. One of the worst offenders? The oh-so-lovable Dalmatian.

If EA is going to take up a lawsuit with them it could become a class action

That's not how class action suits work. There's also not much customer protection for buying stolen/bootlegged goods. The little that exists applies to unknowingly purchasing them, which is knocked out via everyone having signed the EULA.
Not to mention you'd be trying to get money out of TSR after EA was through getting their money back. Stones only bleed so much.

Those uploading or downloading from TSR wouldn't be sued, by the way- EA would have to be criminally insane / the RIAA to do that.
The FAs are a separate issue, and would depend entirely on EA's mercy if they ignored the Cease and Desist.

Quote from: "jesserocket"
I've always had my doubts about the FA system though, ever since Buntah was made one...it seemed to me that if you spammed enough and regularly, you were a dead cert to become an FA...

I don't see her on the lists- was she demoted?

Regardless, it's to TSR's advantage to promote people who are popular, but will take very low FA pay. Good CCC usually know what they're worth, and fight harder to get it.
Sure, hey may have crap quality, but it encourages the little people to work harder and not complain as much when one of the headhunted goes directly to FA. It also gives the illusion that there's more bang for your subscription buck...even though you were already getting their content for free.

Lessor: So a pornstar name...Goldie, Crystal, Ginger, Bunny, um...Thong???

Yep. Though probably the worst ones are Angel, Candy, Lacey, and Kitty/Kat.
And Amber (though I like that name Sad ) seems to be really popular. I wonder if it's because of the exotic/gem connection, or if there have just been so many strippers named Amber that it's a tradition now.

Hot pink with purple was my third choice, you are SOOOO in touch with what downloaders want!! Cheesy

It is because I am so in tune with fashon and decoration from all those clothing lines I did in Mattel Paris.

There's also the factor of pride. How humiliating would it be to be demoted unless you're retiring? Especially if you're someone who closed down your own site and/or thought this would be a money tree.

I feel sorry for the ones who became FAs because it meant something to them, because they wanted to make nice things for the community.
The ones who went over out of greed are getting exactly what they deserve.
It's just a shame that they're all lining TSR's pockets in the meantime.

OMG DO IT IN WHITE, IT LOOKS CLASSY.

srry srry, you took too long, I did it in hot pink with purple. Maybe that can be special commisionary works.

$15 too cheap for that Lessor go for $100.

Shh, I don't want anyone to think it's above bandwidth!

It's not just whatever static requirement. In order to keep making money, they need to keep racking up downloads every month. There's only so many members, and the turnover can't be that high.
The FAs with a large library of files can get away with just the required minimum, but the others will need to keep pumping out content. If you divy up their current download counts, most of them never see the maximum per month.

Or have I misunderstood - are you banning all links in sigs or just paysite ones?

Sigs are banned only on download posts. It should encourage people to put that information in their profile.

But isn't EVERY name a porn-stripper name? Like Crystal. And Annabelle.

There's a difference between "Name one stripper uses" and "Every strip joint has at least one".

Crystal - Stripper name.
Annabelle - Not a stripper name.

Let's put it this way- if the name tells you what the stripper will (briefly) be wearing, well...

That's so awesome, Lesser. SELL IT FOR LOTS. Also, sell the meshes on TurboSquid for lots. Yus.

You are not telling me which colors, my chilluns will starve.

Pls choose one or more than one:

Therefore, it's, um, like you wouldn't buy a lamp and repaint it and sell it on!! It's MINE I TELL YOU!!
Actually, that's a good analogy. *thinks* Even though I hate paysites. That may actually be their attitude to it.

While that is what they think (other than "I worked so hard you should pay me!), the rights and permissions are very different between physical objects and program files.

But if you want a physical objects analogy, say Jane pastes over the labels on a case of Pepsi and tries to sell it as "Jane's Cola Soda".
Why should Pepsi have a problem with this? After all, stores sell cases of Pepsi all the time! She paid for the soft drinks, didn't she? Jane worked very hard on the label! She might even have redesigned the bottle!

Problem is, those stores have an agreement with Pepsi to sell their product (part of why restaurants usually have Coke or Pepsi, not both.)
Jane didn't do the research that led to the formula for Pepsi. Even though she paid for the case of Pepsi, she didn't pay for the right to sell it as her own drink. If another company wanted to sell Pepsi under their own brand, they'd have to pay for the privilege.
Jane didn't bother.

People think of individuals differently than they think of companies. If a company tried to sell sims files without permission, few people would argue that company had The Right because they worked so hard.

You know mateys, we should just be HAPPY that Carla is doing the world a favour and showing her talent in skinning ONLY. I mean, we are lucky that she has NOT taken up meshing, too. Can you imagine what it'd be like then?

Besides being a pornstar/stripper name, it's a character name in lots of sci-fi/fantasy/romance novels, and at least one video game.
Probably all of them think they're the first to come up with it.

People don't even read the EULAs they click on, much less something in a separate text doc.

If your files are named properly, users can go back and find you if there's a problem. The text files are just a nag, and they fail at even that.
