Thanks for all the nice comments!

Unfortunately GoS is being very difficult and refuses to let me post at the moment. Bloody annoying as I have a contest to run as well. Argh! Anyway, I haven't forgotten and he'll be up eventually. I promise to update you guys. (:

We should totally start a 'Diagnose a pirate' self help thread.

Heh, diagnosing others and self-diagnose FTW. I call Dissociative Identity Disorder. Imagine a better excuse for stupid behaviour? 'It wasn't me! It was me!'

Thanks elpemmy!
I think I'll upload him to GoS. MTS2 scares me and InSIM too. Now all I need is some pretty pics. I'll post a link when he's up.

Hurm... what I think he's trying to say, is that while there is no contest between free vs pay, its in the creators point of view whether their sim (e.g. Chaz's Amy Winehouse Sim) is beautiful or not. He/she won't download anything that makes him puke, and he considered paying Peggy etc. cause they consider their creations good or something (got cunfused at that bit lol) and then he/she said why should anyone pay when we all paid the same amount for the sims game.

I think. I might be completely wrong in this... it was kind of crazy...

Other than what you said, elpemmy, I thought that he/she/it meant that the fight against paysites were lost because they'll always be jerks around to take advantage of others. So we should just let them get away with it until 'karma' gets them. Am I the only one who got that? I'm confused.

Deelink might be right, joints are probably needed for us to comprehend the underlying meaning.

There are many reasons why more people are being diagnosed with mental illness in my opinion. We know more about the diseases (and what qualifies as a disease) through research and people are more aware and more educated on them - that's not all the reasons obviously, but both very vital when it comes to recognising a sick person from a healthy person. Then there's the thing about the media. When there's a lot of focus on an illness, more people people will be diagnosed (and I'm not talking self-diagnosed here) with that illness. Why? Because the increased focus will make the doctors more aware of it and therefore be more likely to notice it - even in the beginning stages. If it's a "new" disease, like when depression was first defined, it explains the mental state of a whole range of people, therefore causing more people to be diagnosed with it. The thing about depression is that's it been redefined to include some symptoms that were earlier just discarded as 'teenage angst', so now of course, more people are being diagnosed with depression.

I won't really go into the whole thing about depression being a trend. It sickens me. However, people do have a tendency to self-diagnose and if depression and suicidal behaviour is all you see on the news, well, then that's the thing you know about, right? Again, there'll be more people at least claiming they have a depression. I remember a few years back when everybody had schizophrenia, now it's just trendy to depressed.

That being said, I don't honestly think that the FAs are mentally ill nor am I in a position to diagnose them as such after reading a few posts by them. Disturbingly greedy and self-absorbed, yes, but not really anything more severe. Well, in Atwat's case perhaps more. Sleeping with a man and then calling him your son is just plain perverse. Ew.

And sorry for the long post, heh. TL;DR, yep.

I have a mentally ill family member, so I know what it's like to be around mentally ill people. However, I had once a classmate who suffered from hysteria and she acted very much like Atwat.

Maybe the nice young men in the clean white coats ought to come and take her away? It would certainly make life less complicated and disturbing for the ones she stalks.

I think that if said nice young men were ever to find their way into TSR they'd be working overtime for quite a while.

I think it's funny that they say other sites are so hard...Downloads-Kitchen...duh?
TSR, on the other hand, has the most confusing and god-awful layout I've ever seen on a site. Any site.
Even without the sifting through layers of fug, it's impossible to do a search and find what you're searching for. I've searched for candles and gotten links to clothing and rugs.

That's exactly what I meant - and it's nearly impossible to do a search for something, anything really, without having some completely inappropriate content show up.

Thank you all for the kind comments!

I have a straight-on pic from BodyShop (ignore the fact that he seems to have lost his freckles) and the best I could achieve in game to show his face a little better.

Beth, those rugs are quite nice, even if they are a bit too modern for my usual taste, heh. I really like the textures.

oolongteadrinker, the octopus is simply brilliant! Such a cute necklace!

Once again, they completely missed the point.  All the stuff the GoSlings posted wasn't about hating on TSR, it was because they loved LDG's stuff and wanted her to stay free.  It wouldn't have mattered if they announced her being a FA or not--someone on GoS would've been looking at her stuff, seen she went pay, and the same thing would've happened.

I think TSR lost a lot of traffic when Gelydh went pay, again when aikea and Gelydh left and yet again after LDG left as well. Many GoSlings have said that the only reason they still checked back after aikea and Gelydh left was to see if LDG had updated, now that's she's gone I don't know how many are actually still going back. Granted, there are still a few talented creators, but I believe most people only go back when they're linked in the 'worst finds' thread.

I can't believe that the FAs keep saying that TSR is easy to navigate and that every other major site is horribly difficult. I've hardly ever been able to locate anything under the heaps of fug - unless I knew exactly was I was looking for and had the name of the creator. And even then it can still be hard to locate what you're looking for.

Thanks crunk! His jaw isn't as narrow as the pictures make it look, I'll try and see if I can get a straight-on picture next time I load my game. And his being emo is probably due to the hair and falling on his arse after trying out the rollercoaster. Or maybe I've just been at GoS for too long to notice anymore.

dragonarts, the windows look brilliant! I much prefer single sets. It's easier to download, organise and if the files are clearly labelled you can always toss the items you don't want.

I figured it'd be okay for me to post pics of a sim I made and who I'm considering uploading, but I'm not sure if he would have any appeal to anyone outside of GoS, so opinions please? Apologies for the large pics, PhotoBucket is uncooperative.

Valid point, Devilfish. That thread is good news to anyone but TSR. Most fora have restricted areas where moderation and the like is discussed, but I doubt you'd find anything so completely rotten locked away in most other places. Don't they realise how much they are hurting themselves and their already battered image? Pirates need just share files - nothing more. The FAs are well on their way to put an definitive end to subscribers themselves.

/lurking.

Just read Coconut's journal. I must say I'm not surprised that DOT is comfortable with her stuff being pay, the girl is obviously not entirely normal. As mentioned above the parts of the thread Coconut posted just reeks of a certain cult-mentality. What happened to innocent until proven guilty? DOT just made everybody on TSR who are not pay look like "traitors", people who can not be trusted until they've been thoroughly brainwashed. What a nice way to welcome people! Not that I think a pre-FA forum would change anything anyway, eventually the new FAs would be able to enter the secret treehouse forum and discover the true nature of their new colleagues.

I sincerely hope that Coconut's journal reaches some of the free artists on TSR, who are currently considering going pay. The statements made by DOT would make me get the hell out of there - fast - and I can only assume it has that effect on others as well.

Edit: DOT also said that LDG leaving TSR made her even more pro-TSR, well I can honestly say that reading her comments makes me proud to be anti-pay! I feel sorry for all of those associated with that unbalanced person.
